  • This paper proposes a model predictive control based on the discrete Lyapunov function to improve the performance of power electronic converters. The proposed control technique, based on the finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC), defines a cost function for the control law which is determined under the Lyapunov stability theorem with a control error compensation. The steady state and dynamic performance of the proposed control strategy has been tested under a single phase AC/DC voltage source rectifier (S-VSR). Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed control strategy not only offers global stability and good robustness but also leads to a high quality sinusoidal current with a reasonably low total harmonic distortion (THD) and a fast dynamic response under linear loads.

  • Here, in this research we have studied a two dimensional problem in a homogeneous orthotropic magneto-thermoelastic medium with higher order dual-phase-lag heat transfer with combined effects of rotation and hall current in generalized thermoelasticity due to time harmonic sources. As an application the bounding surface is subjected to uniformly distributed and concentrated loads (mechanical and thermal source). Fourier transform technique is used to solve the problem. The expressions for displacement components, stress components and temperature change are derived in frequency domain. Numerical inversion technique has been used to obtain the results in physical domain. The effect of frequency has been depicted with the help of graphs.

  • The objective of this paper is to study the effect of frequency in a two-dimensional orthotropic thermoelastic rotating solid with fractional order heat transfer in generalized thermoelasticity with two-temperature due to inclined load. As an application the bounding surface is subjected to uniformly and linearly distributed loads (mechanical and thermal source). The problem is solved with the help of Fourier transform. Assuming the disturbances to be harmonically time dependent, the expressions for displacement components, stress components, conductive temperature and temperature change are derived in frequency domain. Numerical inversion technique has been used to determine the results in physical domain. The results are depicted graphically to show the effect of frequency on various components. Some particular cases are also discussed in the present research.

  • In order to achieve the high quality output voltage of single-phase voltage source inverters, in this paper an Adaptive Complementary Sliding Mode Control (ACSMC) is proposed. Firstly, the dynamics model of the single-phase inverter with lumped uncertainty including parameter variations and external disturbances is derived. Then, the conventional Sliding Mode Control (SMC) and Complementary Sliding Mode Control (CSMC) are introduced separately. However, when system parameters vary or external disturbance occurs, the controlling performance such as tracking error, response speed et al. always could not satisfy the requirements based on the SMC and CSMC methods. Consequently, an ACSMC is developed. The ACSMC is composed of a CSMC term, a compensating control term and a filter parameters estimator. The compensating control term is applied to compensate for the system uncertainties, the filter parameters estimator is used for on-line LC parameter estimation by the proposed adaptive law. The adaptive law is derived using the Lyapunov theorem to guarantee the closed-loop stability. In order to decrease the control system cost, an inductor current estimator is developed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed controller is validated through Matlab/Simulink and experiments on a prototype single-phase inverter test bed with a TMS320LF28335 DSP. The simulation and experimental results show that compared to the conventional SMC and CSMC, the proposed ACSMC control strategy achieves more excellent performance such as fast transient response, small steady-state error, and low total harmonic distortion no matter under load step change, nonlinear load with inductor parameter variation or external disturbance.

  • This paper proposes a practical sliding-mode controller design for shaping the impedances of cascaded boost-converter power decoupling circuits for reducing the second order harmonic ripple in photovoltaic (PV) current. The cascaded double-boost converter, when used as power decoupling circuit, has some advantages in terms of a high step-up voltage-ratio, a small number of switches and a better efficiency when compared to conventional topologies. From these features, it can be seen that this topology is suitable for residential (PV) rooftop systems. However, a robust controller design capable of rejecting double frequency inverter ripple from passing to the (PV) source is a challenge. The design constraints are related to the principle of the impedance-shaping technique to maximize the output impedance of the input-side boost converter, to block the double frequency PV current ripple component, and to prevent it from passing to the source without degrading the system dynamic responses. The design has a small recovery time in the presence of transients with a low overshoot or undershoot. Moreover, the proposed controller ensures that the ripple component swings freely within a voltage-gap between the (PV) and the DC-link voltages by the small capacitance of the auxiliary DC-link for electrolytic-capacitor elimination. The second boost controls the main DC-link voltage tightly within a satisfactory ripple range. The inverter controller performs maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for the input voltage source using ripple correlation control (RCC). The robustness of the proposed control was verified by varying system parameters under different load conditions. Finally, the proposed controller was verified by simulation and experimental results.

  • At the most recent years, laser medical instruments, laser applications and laser nuclear fusion need strong visible light and ultraviolet rays. Nonlinear optical devices, such as harmonic generators and parametric oscillators, provide a means of extending the frequency range of available laser sources. Frequency conversion is a useful technique for extending the utility of high-power lasers. It utilizes the nonlinear optical response of an optical medium in intense radiation fields to generate new frequencies. These progresses have been used to generate high-power radiation in all spectral regions, from the ultraviolet to the far infrared. Optical parametric oscillators and amplifiers generate two waves of lower frequency They are capable of generating a range of wavelengths from a single frequency source, in some cases spanning the entire visible and near infrared regions. Consequently, in order to obtain the green light, the pulsed Nd:YAG laser using multiple-mesh PFN(Pulsed Forming Network) method with Nonlinear optical device was adopted. We compared the current pulseshapes with the laser output energy, and conversion efficiency.

  • This paper describes a switching-level operation analysis of BTB(Back-To-Back) converter for HVDC(high voltage DC) application based on MMC(modular multi-level converter). A switching-level operation analysis for BTB converter is very important to understand the converter operation in detail and check the voltage and current transients in each components. However, the development of switching-level simulation model for the actual size BTB Converter is very difficult because the MMC normally has more than 150 sub-modules for each arm. So, a switching level simulation model for the 11-level MMC-based BTB converter was developed with PSCAD/EMTDC software, which has 12 sub-modules for the positive arm and another 12 sub-modules for the negative arm. The DC-voltage balance algorithm, the circulating-current reduction algorithm, the harmonic reduction algorithm, and the redundancy operation algorithm were included in this simulation model. The developed simulation model can be utilized to analyze the MMC-based BTB converter for HVDC application in switching level and to develop the protection scheme for the MMC-based BTB converter for HVDC application.

  • In this study, normal wind load and blast wind load are modeled mathematical. And the periodical torque and bending moments transmitted to the main shaft of wind turbine are investigated. A normal wind model assumed, of which the wind velocity is increased according to the height from ground. The average values and the harmonic terms of the transmitted moments are studied on the wind direction of range $-45^{\circ}{\sim}45^{\circ}$ and the bending moment characteristics are examined, which is regarded as the main source of the misalignment of gear train. In normal wind load case, excitation frequency is 3X (X : Rotor speed). When the wind direction is $+22.5^{\circ}$, the horizontal axis of bending moment occur the 50% of main torque. This result leads to edge contact of gear teeth by shaft elastic deformation. In blast wind load case, excitation frequency are 3X,6X,9X. Additional, in the (+) direction of wind load, relative harmonic percentage is increase.
