  • For small capacity rectifier circuits such as these for consumer electronics and appliances, capacitor input type rectifier circuits are generally used. Consequently, various harmonics generated within the power system become a serious problem. Various studies of this effect have been presented previously. The absence of switching devices makes systems more tolerant to over-load, and brings low radio noise benefits. We propose a power factor correction scheme using a LC resonant in commercial frequency without switching devices. In this method, It makes a sinusoidal wave by widening conduction period using the current resonance in commercial frequency, Hence, the harmonic characteristics can be significantly improved, where the lower order harmonics, such as the fifth and seventh orders are much reduced. The result are confirmed by the theoretical and expermental implementations

  • A series of towing tank tests were carried out for 18 full ship models of high block coefficients. The resistance coefficients and wake distribution at the propeller plane were measured and carefully examined. Regression analysis was employed to find out the relationships with the hull form parameters. Equations for wave resistance coefficient, form factor, and nominal wake are given. A harmonic analysis of measured wake was performed to look into the influence of the local stern shape on the magnitude of fluctuating wake components at three different radii. The amplitude of wake harmonics was also expressed by regression quations. It was found that the regression formulas were very useful in estimating resistance and circumferential wake characteristics of full ship models. It was also considered that the formulas presented in this paper could be utilized in the hull form improvement in a preliminary design.

  • This paper presents a hybrid pulse width modulation (PWM) method under low switching frequency conditions based on space vector PWM (SVPWM) and selective harmonic eliminated PWM (SHEPWM), which use asynchronous carrier modulation SVPWM at low frequency, and SHEPWM at high frequency, a square wave after rated conditions. A transitive strategy is proposed to realize a smooth transition of individual modes including SVPWM, SHEPWM and square waves. Experimental results confirm this hybrid modulation method and their transition are reasonable and proper.

  • In this study, a numerical analysis for soil-pile interaction systems in multi-layered half planes under a forced vibration is presented. The soil-pile interaction system is divided into two parts, so called near field and far field. The near field soil using finite elements and piles using beam elements are modeled. The far field soil media is implemented using boundary elements those can automatically satisfy the condition of wave radiation. These two fields are numerically coupled by imposing displacement compatibility condition at the interface between the near field and the far field. For the verification, the forced vibration test was simulated and the response under horizontal and vertical harmonic loads at the pile cap in the layered half plane was determined. The results are compared to the theoretical and experimental results of the literatures to verify the proposed soil-pile interaction analysis formulation.

  • Telecom supplies need to conform to low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and high Power Factor (PF) as per IEC 61000-3-2 and IEEE 519-1992 standards. These high rating power supplies use a three phase utility in which low THD and high PF are realized via various passive and active wave shaping schemes. In this paper, a new design for three phase telecom power supplies is presented with circuit parameter values optimized for high performance in terms of a low THD, high PF, low ripple and high line and load regulation using a suitable combination of various strategies. The performance of the power supply is validated by extensive simulations.

  • The performances of millimeter wave Power amplifier have been improved by using PBG (photonic bandgap structure) in this paper. The PBG structure has been optimized to obtain the lowpass characteristics in Ka band and employed at output port of Ka band power amplifier. The harmonics of the power amplifier have been suppressed by the PBG of output port and the proposed PBG has suppressed the second harmonic to 40dBc around 50 GHz. The improvements of IMD and PAE of the amplifier employing the PBG structure are obtained $15\%$ and $25\%$, compared with those of the conventional Ka band power amplifier, respectively.

  • In this paper, an incoherent imaging of a high-contrast cylindrical cavity illuminated by the time-harmonic cylindrical wave is obtained ia the back-projections of he incoherent intensity patterns, which si acquired by averaging out the multi-frequency intensities of the total electric field scattered from this object in the cross-borehole measurement configuration. Multi-freuqncy effect is shown numerically and is intepreted analytically by the mutual coherence function defined in the is frequency domain. This imaging method is validated by imaging high-contrast cylindrical cavidities and the conditions to get better image are investigated.

  • The laser induced forward transfer(LIFT) technique employs a pulsed laser to transfer parts of a thin metal film from an optically transparent target onto an arbitrary substrate in close proximity to the metal film on the target. In this work, a two-step method, the combination of LIFT process, in which a Au film deposited on the $Al_2$O$_3$ substrate by Nd:YAG laser and subsequent Au electroless metal plating on the by LIFT process generated Au seed, was presented. The influence of laser parameters, wavelength, laser power, film thickness and overlap ratio of pulse tracks, on the shapes of deposit and conductor line after electroless plating is experimentally studied. As a results, the threshold power densities for ablation, deposition and metallization were determined and comparison of threshold value between the wave length 1064nm and the second harmonic generated 532nm. In odor to determine a possible application in the electronic industry, a smallest conduct spot size, line width and isolated line space were generated.

  • The ESPI (Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry) algorithm has been simulated to calculate vibrational modes of a thin right-angled STS304 plate. The phase transformation of the reference wave of the ESPI is carried out only one time during vibration in order to clarify ESPI speckle patterns. Two dimensional vibrational modes are calculated from one ESPI pattern before vibration onset and two ESPI patterns during vibrations but with and without the phase transformation. The ESPI harmonic results are compared with those derived from the finite element method (FEM), and they agree very well. Additionally a phase unwrapping algorithm has been newly developed to derive a displacement map from an ESPI phase map.

  • To predict vibrational energy density and intensity of partitioned complex system structures in medium-to-high frequency ranges, Power Flow Finite Element Method(PFFEM) programs for the plate elements are developed. The flexural, longitudinal and shear waves in plates are formulated and the joint element equations for multi-couped plates are fully developed. Also the wave transmission approach has been introduced to cover the energy transmission and reflection at the joint plate elements. Using the developed PFFEM program the energy density and intensity of the submarine and automobile shape structures are predicted with a harmonic point force at a single frequency.
