  • In this paper, vibration modes and frequencies of a ring-type stacked piezoelectric actuator for a wire bonding transducer system are analyzed using FEM simulations. We implement experiments using a commercial product model of the actuator PZT module which consists of 6 layer ring-type PZT and 7 electrodes, combined bolts, nut and tinut. There are two main results: One is that FEM analysis should consider the effect the harmonic voltage input in order to meet the experimental results. The other is that the current wire bonder using exciting frequency of 136 kHz should be modified in order to improve the actuator and bonding performance because the actuator module has the main longitudinal mode of 145 kHz.

  • This paper deals with the voltage amplitude control in inverter systems which can regenerate the excessive DC power from DC bus line to AC supply in substations for traction systems. To maintain the magnitude of output fundamental voltage constant in spite of the variation of input DC voltage inverters are operated in symmetrical $\alpha$-conduction mode with the range of $120^{\circ}$<$\alpha$<$180^{\circ}$ To match the output voltage of the inverter systems with AC supply voltage harmonic reduction techniques are also investigated. Computer simulations are carried out to verify the validity of the proposed systems.

겹판스프링의 진동수해석에 관한 연구 (Study on the frequency analysis of the leaf spring)

  • In this study, the deformation and stress are analyzed through modal and harmonic response analysis at resonance on leaf spring. The displacement range of 7 to 14 mm is shown at natural frequencies as 6 kinds of resonance modes. The maximum deformation is shown as 8.8781mm at Mode 2. The maximum displacement and stress at leaf spring are shown as 0.0458 mm and 72.533 MPa respectively on 1200 Hz. The comfortability of passenger becomes better on leaf spring at suspension system by use of this design model.

대용량 유도전동기의 부하 운전 시 자기 소음 특성 해석 (Analysis of the Magnetic Noise for Large Power Induction Motors at Loading Operation)

  • When a squirrel cage induction motor is loaded, the magnetic noise can increase depending on the load current. It is due to the variation of air gap harmonic fluxes from the rotor current induced by loading. This unfavorable noise can be anticipated by analysing the radial force waves in the air gap, the mode shapes of them, and stator core natural frequencies at each mode. With the experimental tests with the different rotor slot numbers, the variation of magnetic noise depending on the load current is studied and the method to reduce the magnetic noise is suggested with the newly developed magnetic noise analysis program.

  • This paper described a dc power system, which can generate the excessive do power form do bus line to ac source in substation for traction system. The proposed regeneration inverter system for dc traction can be used as both an inverter and an active power filter(APF). As a regeneration inverter mode, it can recycle regenerative energy caused by decelerating tractions and as an active power filter mode, it can compensate for harmonic distortion produced by the rectifier substation.

  • This paper presents the single-stage high power factor AC to DC converter operated in active-clamp mode. The proposed converter is added active-clamping circuit to boost-flyback single-stage power factor corrected power supply. The active-clamping circuit limits voltage spikes, recycles the energy trapped in the leakage inductance, and provides a mechanism for achieving soft switching of the electronic switches to reduce the switching loss. The auxiliary switch of active-clamping circuit uses the same control and driver circuit as the main switch to reduce the additional cost and size. To verify the performance of the proposed converter, a 100W converter has been designed. The proposed converter gives good power factor correction, low line current harmonic distortions, and tight output voltage regulation, as used unity power factor.

Bridgeless Buck PFC Rectifier with Improved Power Factor

  • Buck power factor correction (PFC) converters, compared with conventional boost PFC converters, exhibit high efficiency performance in the entire range of universal line voltage. This feature has gotten more attention for eliminating the zero crossing dead angle of buck PFC rectifiers. Furthermore, bridgeless structures for the reduction of conduction losses have been proposed. The aim of this paper is to introduce a single-phase buck rectifier that simultaneously has unity power factor (PF) and bridgeless structure while operating in the continuous conduction mode (CCM). For this purpose, two auxiliary flyback converters without any active switches are applied to a bridgeless buck rectifier to eliminate the zero crossing dead angle and achieve unity power factor, low total harmonic distortion (THD) and high efficiency. The operation and design considerations of the proposed rectifier are verified on a 150W, 48V prototype using a conventional peak-current-mode control. The measurement results show that the proposed rectifier has nearly unity power factor, THD less than 7% and high efficiency.

Satellite data analysis of the China Coastal Waters in the Seas surrounding Jeju Island, Korea

  • China Coastal Water (CCW) usually appears in the seas surrounding Jeju Island annually (June?October) and is very pronounced in August. The power spectrum density (PSD), sea level anomalies (SLAs), and sea surface temperatures (SSTs) were found to peak annually and semiannually. The peaks at intervals of 80-, 60-, and 43-days are considered to be influenced by CCW and the Kuroshio Current. Generally, low-salinity water appears to the west of Jeju Island from June through October and gradually propagates to the east, where CCW meets the Tsushima Current. Empirical orthogonal function (EOF) analysis of SLAs and SSTs indicated that the variance in SLAs and SSTs was 55.70 and 98.09% in the first mode, respectively. The PSD for the first mode of EOF analysis of SLAs was stronger in the western than in the eastern waters because of the influence of CCW. The PSD for the EOF analysis of SSTs was similar in all areas (the Yangtze Estuary and the waters to the west and east of Jeju Island), with a period of approximately 260 days.

  • The position control accuracy of the robot arm is decreased significantly when a long arm robot is operated at high speed. In this case, the robot arm must be modeled as a flexible structure, not a rigid one, and its control system will be necessarily designed with its elastic modes taken into account. In this paper, the vibration control of a one-link flexible robot arm is presented. The robot system consists of a flexible arm manufactured with thin aluminium plate, AC servomotor with a harmonic drive for speed reduction, optical encoder and accelerometer. The system is modeled with limited number of elastic modes, and its parameters are determined from the results of the experiments. The implemented control schemes are LQ control and sliding mode control. The experiments and digital simulations are carried out to test the validity of the system modeling, controller design, and active control implementation.

The H1*-H2* Measure

  • In this paper, the H1*-H2* measure is introduced and exact procedures for obtaining the H1*-H2* value are fully specified, The H1*-H2* measure (a corrected difference in dB between the first and second harmonics) has been devised to provide an acoustic correlate of the phonation mode of a vowel following a consonant. With this measure, we can investigate the phonation mode of a vowel that is free from the F1 amplitude perturbation effect caused by the preceding consonant, which is especially salient at the voicing onset position of the vowel. For identical research purposes, on the other hand, the H1-H2 measure (the observed difference in dB between the first and second harmonic) has been employed in many previous studies. This paper compares these two measures by illustrating experimental results of exploring post-release phonation modes of vowels following the different manner classes of stop consonants in Korean $\square$i.e., the tense, lenis, and aspirated stops.
