Vibrations caused by automobile engine are absorbed mostly by a passive-type engine mount. However, user specifications for automobile vibrations require more stringent conditions and higher standard. Hence, active-type engine mounts have been developed to cope with such specifications. In this study, the active vibration absorber which can be attached to the sub-frame of automobile is used for the suppression of vibrations caused by engine. The active vibration absorbing system consists of sensor, actuator and controller where a control algorithm is implemented using DSP. The vibration caused by engine reveals harmonic disturbances varying with engine revolution. Therefore, the control algorithm should be able to cope with harmonic disturbances. In this study, the modified higher harmonic control technique which can selectively suppress harmonic disturbance is considered. Experimental results on automobile show that the proposed active vibration absorbing system is effective in suppressing vibrations caused by engine.
A direct vector control for induction machine based on determination of the spatial position of the airgap flux from the third harmonic component of the stator phase voltage is presented in this Paper. The relationship between the airgap fundamental flux component and the third harmonic flux component obtained from the stator third harmonic voltage is presented at the end of this paper.
This paper presents a control method for reducing the distortion of the grid current at a grid-connected three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) inverter. The grid current is distorted from the 5th and 7th harmonic components in the stationary frame current also the 6th harmonic component in the synchronous frame current. In this paper, the 6th harmonic component on synchronous frame is controlled by using all-pass filters (APFs) and proportional integral (PI) controllers for distortion of the grid side. When transformed the 6th harmonic component is controlled, the 5th and 7th harmonic components are reduced. The validity of the proposed control method is verified by simulation and experiment results using a 25kW three-level NPC inverter.

The application of shunt active power filters (S-APFs) is considered to be the most popular approach for harmonic compensation due to its high simplicity, ease of installation and efficient control. Its functionality mainly depends upon the rapidness and precision of its internally built control algorithms. A S-APF is generally operated in the current controlled mode (CCM) with the detection of harmonic load current. Its operation may not be appropriate for the distributed power generation system (DPGS) due to the wide dispersion of nonlinear loads. Despite the fact that the voltage detection based resistive-APF (R-APF) appears to be more appropriate for use in the DPGS, the R-APF experiences poor performance in terms of mitigating harmonics and parameter tuning. Therefore, this paper introduces a direct harmonic voltage detection based control approach for the S-APF that does not need a remote harmonic load current since it only requires a local point of common coupling (PCC) voltage for the detection of harmonics. The complete design procedure of the proposed control approach is presented. In addition, experimental results are given in detail to validate the performance and superiority of the proposed method over the conventional R-APF control. Thus, the outcomes of this study approve the predominance of the discussed strategy.
This paper suggests a control algorithm of 3-phase 3-wire series active power filter. This suggested algorithm can compensate source harmonics and reactive power in 3-phase 3-wire power distribution systems. These harmonics are generated by nonlinear loads such as diode rectifiers and thyristor converters. This control algorithm extracts a compensation voltage reference from performance function without phase transformation. Therefore, this control algorithm is simpler than any other conventional control algorithms. 3-phase 3-wire series active power filters which have a harmonic voltage source and a harmonic current source are manufactured and experiments are carried out to verify the effectiveness of suggested control algorithm.
An advanced active power filter for the compensation of instantaneous harmonic current components in nonlinear current load is presented in this paper. A novel signal processing technique using an adaptive neural network algorithm is applied for the detection of harmonic components generated by three-phase nonlinear current loads and this method can efficiently determine the instantaneous harmonic components in real time. The control strategy of the switching signals to compensate current harmonics of the three-phase inverter is also discussed and its switching signals are generated with the space voltage vector modulation scheme. The validity of this active filtering processing system to compensate current harmonics is substantiated on the basis of simulation results.
A novel control scheme compensating for source voltage unbalance and harmonic current for series active power filters is proposed, where the references for voltage unbalance and current harmonic and phase angle is derived from the positive sequence component of the source voltage obtained simply through digital all-pass filters, which makes the whole control algorithm simpler than other methods using p-q theory. In addition, the harmonic component of source current is compensated by harmonic component of load voltage and therefore fundamental component of source current is considered as separated terms for the control issue. The validity of the proposed scheme has been verified by experimental results.
This paper proposes an APF(Active Power Filter) with WRIM(Wounded Rotor Induction Motor) controlled by sliding mode which can compensate harmonic currents generated in a power system. As non-linear loads increase gradually in industry fields, harmonic current generated In the electric power network system also increases. Harmonic current makes a power network current distorted and generates heat, vibration and noise In the power machinery, Many approaches have been applied to compensate harmonic currents generated in the power system. Among various control strategy, in this paper, a sliding mode controlled systems is designed and evaluated. This is a flywheel compensator based on secondary excitation of WRIM(wounded rotor induction motor) with SMC(sliding mode controller). The proposed system uses a flywheel as an energy storage device. The designed control scheme is verified through simulation.
This paper proposes a parametric design of an LLC resonant inverter used for a microwave oven. To improve the harmonic performance of the microwave oven, a current controller with a variable PI gain is proposed. Due to the recent strengthening of harmonics regulations, inverter control technology for microwave ovens is now required to satisfy harmonic performance. In an LLC resonant inverter, the voltage gain varies remarkably depending on the magnetron voltage, output power, and input voltage. To satisfy harmonic performance, a controller that can maintain operation in the zero-voltage switching (ZVS) region and control changes in voltage gain is required. The modified design of the LLC resonant inverter ensures ZVS operation even when the magnetron is heated. Application of the variable current controller improves harmonic control according to the instantaneous gain curve change. The validity of the proposed power control with a variable current controller is verified by experiments with a 1200 W microwave oven.
This paper presents a control strategy for voltage-controlled multi-function distributed generation (DG) combined with an active power filter (APF) and a reactive power compensator. The control strategy is based on droop control. As a result of local nonlinear loads, the voltages of the point of common coupling (PCC) and the currents injecting into the grid by the DG are distorted. The power quality of the PCC voltage can be enhanced by using PCC harmonic compensation. In addition, with the PCC harmonic compensation, the DG offers a low-impedance path for harmonic currents. Therefore, the DG absorbs most of the harmonic currents generated by local loads, and the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the grid connected current is dramatically reduced. Furthermore, by regulating the reactive power of the DG, the magnitude of the PCC voltage can be maintained at its nominal value. The performance of the DG with the proposed control strategy is analyzed by bode diagrams. Finally, simulation and experimental results verify the proposed control strategy.
