Purpose: This study was conducted to provide basic data on the nursing Happiness Index and identify factors influencing nurses by describing their perception of lifestyle, health behavior, nursing professionalism, Happiness Index, and turnover intention. Methods: On July 2012, 700 nurses from 10 general hospitals were surveyed, but 23 were omitted due to missing or incomplete data. The focus of this study was the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Happiness Index, consisting of 11 OECD identified topics concerning living conditions and quality of life. Data were analyzed using $x^2$-tests, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression with SPSS/WINdow 14.0. Results: Mean score for nurses' Happiness Index was 3.03 on a scale of 5. There were significant differences on the Happiness Index for the following: age, marriage, children, education, position, work experience, wages, number of beds, medical institution, health behavior, weight, and meal patterns. There was a positive correlation between the happiness index and nursing professionalism but a negative correlation between the happiness index and turnover intention. Conclusion: Results indicate that factors influencing happiness are autonomy, sense of calling and turnover intention suggesting the need to improve nursing professionalism for a life of happiness among hospital nurses.
Purpose. This study was conducted to provide basic data on the subjective happiness index and identify factors influencing college professor and staff by describing their perception of general characteristics, health behavior, suicidal ideation, and subjective happiness index. Methods. A survey was conducted with 198 professor and staff who were working University on K city. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression with SPSS window 18.0 program. Result. The Mean scores of Subjective happiness in college professor and staff was 4.66 on a scale of 7. There were significant differences on the subjective happiness Index for the followings: age, breakfast for 2 day, blood pressure (Lt systolic), health status index (EQ-VAS). There was a negative correlation between the subjective happiness Index and suicidal ideation. Factors influencing of subjective happiness in college professor and staff were identified as age (${\beta}=.201$), breakfast for 2 day (${\beta}=-.180$), blood pressure (Lt systolic) (${\beta}=-.244$), health status index (EQ-VAS) (${\beta}=.408$). These factors explained 35.1% of variance in subjective happiness in college professor and staff. Conclusion. Results indicate that factors influencing subjective happiness are suggesting the need to establish policies of health behavior. health behavior program for a life of happiness among college professor and staff.

Purpose: This study was conducted to identify correlations in hospital nurses' work environment, emotional labor and happiness index to provide basic resources for nurses' happiness at work. Methods: Resources were gathered from 291 nurses who agreed to participate. Random sampling of nurses in nine hospitals in G-do was done between July 15 and August 14, 2014. Data were analyzed using ${\chi}^2$ tests, independent t-test, One-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple hierarchical regression with SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: Mean scores (scale of 5) were nurses' work environment, 2.81, emotional labor, 3.24, and happiness index, 2.94. There were significant differences on the happiness index for: age, marriage, children, clinical experience, position, payment, and future work plans and a negative correlation between work environment and emotional labor, emotional labor and happiness index but a positive correlation between happiness index and work environment. Happiness index was influenced by work environment, emotional labor, future work plans. Explanatory power of these variables was 26%. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, so it is necessary to improve the work environment and reduce the frequency of emotional labor in order to increase the happiness index of hospital nurses.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to provide a counseling program basis for the department satisfaction in dental hygiene department according to the subjective factors of happiness in dental hygiene students. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 197 dental hygiene students in Gwangju from April 10 to 30, 2017. From collected data, general characteristics, happiness index and department satisfaction of the subjects were investigated. Data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 18.0 program. Results: The happiness index according to general characteristics showed a significant difference in grade, character, friendship, academic achievement, pocket money satisfaction and health condition. The department satisfaction according to general characteristics showed a significant difference in grade, age, character, motivation for further study, friendship, academic achievement, pocket money satisfaction, health condition, sleep time. Happiness index showed a significant correlation with department satisfaction. The happiness index was higher as the department satisfaction was higher. Factors that affect happiness index are friendship, health condition, relationship satisfaction, perception satisfaction, school satisfaction, curriculum satisfaction and department satisfaction. Conclusions: The happiness index was higher as the department satisfaction was higher. Therefore, it is necessary to develop various programs to increase the happiness.

Purpose: The purposes of this study were to identify the effects of social support, resilience, stress and satisfaction in major on the happiness index of nursing students. Methods: Data were collected from March 16 to April 10, 2015 through a self-report questionnaire survey. Participants were 205 students in three different nursing colleges located in Busan and Yangsan. Measured variables were social support, resilience, stress, satisfaction in major and Happiness index. Results: Social support, resilience, satisfaction in major, and personal relationships had significant positive effects on the happiness index, while stress had a negative effect on the happiness index. Explained variance for the happiness index was 46% and social support was the most significant factor in the happiness index of nursing students. Conclusion: The results from this study suggest that resilience, social support, stress, satisfaction in major, and personal relationships should be considered as the main influential factors when developing intervention strategies to increase of the happiness index of nursing students.
This study explores economic and psychological factors as well as dietary, clothing, and dwelling lifestyle factors that influence the happiness of college students. For this, a survey of 570 students (222 males and 348 females) was conducted using 72 categories, including general characteristics, the happiness index, the health index, and economic, psychological, dietary, clothing, and dwelling factors. Gender differences in student characteristics were analyzed through an independent samples t-test, and relationships between variables were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficients. Variables showing significant correlations with the happiness index were classified as independent variables for the dependent variable of the happiness index and used for a regression analysis. The happiness index showed no significant gender difference, but it was higher for males than for females. Males scoring higher in the economic lifestyle and self-esteem, among others, were more likely to think practically, and their economic lifestyles were relatively rational. In both genders significant positive correlations were found between the happiness index and allowance satisfaction, the allowance level, the economic lifestyle, self-esteem, major satisfaction, and peer satisfaction. Variables more likely to influence the happiness index for males were self-esteem, peer satisfaction, the economic level, major satisfaction, and regular exercise, whereas those for females were self-esteem, peer satisfaction, and stress eating. These results indicate that emotional factors such as self-esteem and peer satisfaction were more likely to influence the happiness index of college students for both genders than economic and physical factors.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of happiness index in dental hygienists. This study can be used to improve the quality of life and the turnover intention in the dental hygienists. Methods: The subjects were 281 dental hygienists in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and Chungcheong province. A self-reported questionnaire was completed by the subjects. The questionnaire consisted of 7 questions of general characteristics of the subjects, 7 questions of dental hygiene performance, and 9 questions of happiness index. The instrument for happiness index was modified from Suh and Koo. Cronbach's alpha was 0.850 in the happiness index measure by Likert 7 scale. The instrument for professionalism was modified from Baek and consisted of 25 questions measure by Likert 5 scale. Cronbach's alpha was 0.694 in the professionalism. The instrument for turnover intention was modified from Lee and consisted of 5 questions measured by Likert 5 scale. Cronbach's alpha was 0.712 in turnover intention. Data were analyzed using SPSS 18.0. for one way ANOVA, Duncan posthoc test, Pearson correlation coefficients and hierarchical regression. Results: The means of happiness index, professionalism and turnover intention of subjects were 4.44, 3.06 and 3.05, respectively. The happiness index was higher in those who are married(4.66), those who have high income, and those who have careers in dental hygienists(4.61). There were significant differences in the happiness index by the average daily working hours, place of treatment, work intensity and off duty hours. Conclusions: This study suggests that improvement of the happiness index in clinical dental hygienists requires the continuing and systematic education program and administrative support that can reduce the turnover intention.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the levels of self-reflection, self-esteem, and empathy and identify influential factors on happiness index in nursing students. Methods: The data was collected using questionnaires from a convenience sample of 275 nursing students. The data was analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Results: Mean scores of self-esteem, empathy and happiness index were 3.55, 2.89, 3.43, and 66.76, respectively. Self-understanding, self-esteem, and economic status had significant positive effects with a 42% of explained variance of the happiness index. Conclusion: The results suggest that self-understanding, self-esteem, and economic status should be considered as factors when developing intervention strategies to increase the level of the happiness index among nursing students.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine how the dentist's servant leadership affects the happiness index of dental hygienists. Methods: The subjects were 221 dental hygienists that have been working at dental clinics or dental hospitals. The data were analyzed using SPSS Version 20.0 (IBM Co., Armonk, NY, USA). An independent t-test and one-way ANOVA analysis were conducted to examine the difference in the happiness index of dental hygienists according to general characteristics. The independent t-test was conducted to examine organizational culture and happiness index according to upper and lower group based on the mean score for servant leadership. Pearson's correlation analysis was used to examine the correlation among key factors. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to identify factors influencing the happiness index of dental hygienists. Results: According to the analysis, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between the dentist's servant leadership, the organizational culture and the happiness index of dental hygienists. However, a stewardship of the dentist's servant leadership factors was not found to have any correlation with the market culture. A multiple regression analysis was performed after including the dentist's servant leadership, the organizational culture and the happiness index of dental hygienists. Meanwhile, the stewardship and community-building effect of the dentist's servant leadership had a statistically significant effect on the happiness index of dental hygienists. Consequently, a higher servant leadership factor in dentists was correlated with a higher happiness index of dental hygienists. Conclusions:The findings show that the dentist's servant leadership affect the happiness index of dental hygienists. Therefore, effective intervention and education programs related to the dentist's servant leadership and sound organizational culture are necessary to enhance dental hygienists' happiness index. Additionally, a follow-up study will determine the causal relationship among the dentist's servant leadership, the organizational culture and the happiness index of dental hygienists, considering organizational members and the environment of the dental clinics.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of optimism on stress on happiness index. The subjects were 3 and 4 grade students who had clinical practice experience among 3 nursing students at G university, and 362 questionnaires were used as research data. The data analysis used regression analysis, SPSS macro and bootstrapping methods to examine the mediating effects of optimism on college students' stress and happiness. The results showed that stress, happiness, and optimism were significantly correlated, and stress had a direct effect on college students' happiness. In other words, the higher the level of stress, the lower the happiness index of college students. The optimism was partially mediated between stress and college students' happiness index. Therefore, in order to increase the happiness index of college students, it is necessary to develop and implement a program for happiness enhancement as one of the program strategies that can enhance stress.
