  • A fast Hankel transform (FHT) algorithm (Anderson, 1982) is applied to numerical evaluation of many Green's tensor integrals encountered in three-dimensional electromagnetic modeling using integral equations. Efficient computation of Hankel transforms is obtained by a combination of related and lagged convolutions which are available in the FHT. We express Green's tensor integrals for a layered half-space, and rewrite those to a form of related functions so that the FHT can be applied in an efficient manner. By use of the FHT, a complete or full matrix of the related Hankel transform can be rapidly and accurately calculated for about the same computation time as would be required for a single direct convolution. Computing time for a five-layer half-space shows that the FHT is about 117 and 4 times faster than conventional direct and multiple lagged convolution methods, respectively.

  • The filtering ability of $J_0$ and $J_1$ digital linear filters is compared by means of an adaptive linear filter. Any $J_0$ domain Hankel transform integral can be transformed mathematically into its corresponding $J_1$ domain integral. The apparent resistivities for any electrode configuration employed in resistivity soundings can be evaluated with a single $J_1$ filter. The $J_1$ filter usually has similar accuracy to, but shorter length than, the corresponding $J_0$ filter. The domain transformation from $J_0$ to $J_1$ enables us to use effective expressions of apparent resistivity, involving $J_1$ alone, not only for Schlumberger but also for dipole-dipole array.

  • The objective of this paper is to obtain sharp upper bound for the second Hankel functional associated with the $k^{th}$ root transform $[f(z^k)]^{\frac{1}{k}}$ of normalized analytic function f(z) when it belongs to the class of starlike and convex functions with respect to symmetric points, defined on the open unit disc in the complex plane, using Toeplitz determinants.

  • An attempt was made to compute the free surface deformation due to the impact of a water droplet. The Cauchy Poisson, i.e. the initial value problem, was solved with the kinematic and dynamic free surface boundary conditions linearized. The zero order Hankel transformation and Laplace transform were applied to the related equations. The initial condition for the free surface profile was derived from a captured video image. The effect of the surface tension was not significant with the water mass used in this investigation. The computed and observed free surface deformations were compared.

  • Radiation from a cavity-backed circular aperture surrounded by concentric corrugations is studied. An electromagnetic boundary-value problem of the cavity-backed circular aperture surrounded by concentric corrugations is solved by using the Green's function, Hankel transform, and mode matching method. The radiated fields are computed in terms of corrugation geometry to illustrate radiation behaviors and measured to validate our computation. The effects of the corrugation geometries on the radiation are discussed.

  • This paper provides a method to study the nonnegativity of certain linear operators, from other operators with similar spectral properties. If these new operators are formally self-adjoint and nonnegative, we can study the complex powers using an appropriate locally convex space. In this case, the initial operator also will be nonnegative and we will be able to study its powers. In particular, we have applied this method to Bessel-type operators.

  • In this study, the author provided a discussion on one dimensional Laplace and Fourier transforms with their applications. It is shown that the combined use of exponential operators and integral transforms provides a powerful tool to solve space fractional partial differential equation with non - constant coefficients. The object of the present article is to extend the application of the joint Fourier - Laplace transform to derive an analytical solution for a variety of time fractional non - homogeneous KdV. Numerous exercises and examples presented throughout the paper.

  • In this paper, we establish Liouville type theorems for the fractional powers of multidimensional Bessel operators extending the results given in [6]. In order to do this, we consider the distributional point of view of fractional Bessel operators studied in [12].

  • An analytical method is presented to solve the elastodynamic problem of finitely long hollow cylinder subjected to torsional impact often occurs in engineering mechanics. The analytical solution is composed of a solution of quasi-static equation satisfied with the non-homogeneous boundary condition and a solution of dynamic equation satisfied with homogeneous boundary condition. The quasi-static solution is obtained directly by solving the quasi-static equation satisfied with the non-homogeneous boundary condition. The solution of the non-homogeneous dynamic equation is obtained by means of finite Hankel transform on the radial variable, r, Laplace transform on time variable, t, and finite Fourier transform on axial variable, z. Thus, the solution for finitely long, hollow cylinder subjected to torsion impact is obtained. In the calculating examples, the response histories and distributions of shear stress in the finitely long hollow cylinder subjected to an exponential decay torsion load are obtained, and the results have been analyzed and discussed. Finally, a dynamic finite element for the same problem is carried out by using ABAQUS finite element analysis. Comparing the analytical solution with the finite element solution, it can be found that two kinds of results obtained by means of two different methods agree well. Therefore, it is further concluded that the analytical method and computing process presented in the paper are effective and accurate.
