Conventional methods of automatically recording Go game positions do not properly consider obstacles (hand or object) on a Go board during the Go game. If the Go board is blocked by obstacles, the position of a Go stone may not be correctly recognized, or the sequences of moves may be stored differently from the actual one. In the proposed algorithm, only the complete Go board image without obstacles is stored as a background image and the obstacle is recognized by comparing the background image with the current input image. To eliminate the phenomenon that the shadow is mistaken as obstacles, this paper proposes the new obstacle detection method based on the gradient image instead of the simple differential image. When there is no obstacle on the Go board, the background image is updated. Finally, the successive background images are compared to recognize the position and type of the Go stone. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has more than 95% recognition rate in general illumination environment.
In accordance with the analysis results on the questionnaires about the awareness of employees according to positions and educational backgrounds in a public health organization, this thesis suggests the basic data on the purpose of the efficient operation and improvement of working environment in a public health organization. Two answers of the questions that "there is a possibility for promotion in the organization" and "the unit section in organization which I work for has a well-designed structure of organization" showed respectively high points in the questionnaire. On the other hand, three questions like there is a resonable way to bind the organization up, completed mission and rewards are connected, and my salary is fit for the current mission showed high points among the questions about the awareness on the organization according to the positions.

In case of massive water leakage, it's crucial for field manager to quickly positioning the problematic valve and related ones. However, it's not easy for the system to find the corresponding valve and even if it's found, it can not respond quickly because it can't know the relevant information immediately. In this paper, we implement the system for identifying sluice valve positions using GPS and AR techniques. The proposed system is composed of hand held android device, remote database server and data acquisition device for DB creation. We utilize the android device's sensors including GPS, gyro, accelerometer, magnetic sensor. The system identifies the valve with matching between the position data from the remote database server, and current GPS locations of device. We use AR techniques to overlay the graphics pattern of valve positions and some additional informations on captured real scene. With this system, it will be fast and accurate for maintenance of sluice valve of municipal water system.

In order to make a virtual endoscopy system effective for exploring the interior of the 3D model of a human organ, it is necessary to generate an accurate navigation path located inside the 3D model and to obtain consistent camera position and pose estimation along the path. In this paper, we propose an approach to virtual navigation of blood vessels, which makes proper use of orthogonal contours and skeleton curves. The approach generates the orthogonal contours and the skeleton curves from the 3D mesh model and its voxel model, all of which represent the blood vessels. For a navigation zone specified by two nodes on the skeleton curves, it computes the shortest path between the two nodes, estimates the positions and poses of a virtual camera at the nodes in the navigation zone, and interpolates the positions and poses to make the camera move smoothly along the path. In addition to keyboard and mouse input, intuitive hand gestures determined by the Leap Motion SDK are used as user interface for virtual navigation of the blood vessels. The proposed approach provides easy and accurate means for the user to examine the interior of 3D blood vessels without any collisions between the camera and their surface. With a simple user study, we present illustrative examples of applying the approach to 3D mesh models of various blood vessels in order to show its quality and usefulness.

Background: Methodologies for a series of radiological consequence assessments show a distinctive difference according to the design principles of the original nuclear suppliers and their technical standards to be imposed. This is due to the uncertainties of the accidental source term, radionuclide behavior in the environment, and subsequent radiological dose. Both types of PWR and PHWR are operated in Korea. However, technical standards for evaluating atmospheric dispersion have been enacted based on the U.S. NRC's positions regardless of the reactor types. For this reason, it might cause a controversy between the licensor and licensee of a nuclear power plant. Materials and Methods: It was modelled under the framework of the NRC Regulatory Guide 1.145 for light-water reactors, reflecting the features of heavy-water reactors as specified in the Canadian National Standard and the modelling features in MACCS2, such as atmospheric diffusion coefficient, ground deposition, surface roughness, radioactive plume depletion, and exposure from ground deposition. Results and Discussion: An integrated accident consequence assessment code, ACCESS (Accident Consequence Assessment Code for Evaluating Site Suitability), was developed by taking into account the unique regulatory positions for reactor types under the framework of the current Korean technical standards. Field tracer experiments and hand calculations have been carried out for validation and verification of the models. Conclusion: The modelling approaches of ACCESS and its features are introduced, and its applicative results for a hypothetical accidental scenario are comprehensively discussed. In an applicative study, the predicted results by the light-water reactor assessment model were higher than those by other models in terms of total doses.
We investigated the effects of maternal and paternal parentage, and ovule position in a pod on seed development, weight, and progeny performance, using an annual crop commonly called cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L.). The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse. Nine maternal parents were randomly selected, and 3 individuals were chosen as paternal parents based on the male fitness components. Five types of hand-pollination were attempted on each flower of the maternal plants to evaluate the influence of paternal identify. Independent variables such as parentage and ovule position affected the pattern of seed development. Ovules in the middle position of the pod exhibited a much higher probability of seed maturation than those at the stylar and basal positions, confirming the position effect. These independent variables also appeared to exert a significant effect on seed weight, although it was not possible to evaluate the relative importance of those variables due to a significant interaction between parents. Mixed pollination tended to yield heavier seeds than other paternal parents. Ovules in the middle and basal end positions produced heavier seeds than those at the stylar end regardless of maternal and paternal parentage. Seed weight was independent of all measurements of progeny performance. At week 2 after germination significant paternal effects were found to be mediated through the ovule position in a pod. In particular, the progeny derived from self-pollination performed worse than the progeny from other paternal parentage. The progeny performance at week 4 after germination was affected by maternal parents independently of seed weight. These results show that paternal and maternal effects were quite consistent from the seed development to early growth of the progeny. Consequently, maternal and paternal effects on seed development and weight, and progeny performance may reflect, at least to some extent, genetic contribution of both parents. If so, it is possible for sexual selection on maternal and paternal function to generate the evolution of reproductive traits related to seed production.
This study aimed to investigate the effect of four common types of Qigong position (standing, sitting, supine, and horse-riding position) on the autonomic nervous system. Thirty healthy subjects participated in this study once a week for four weeks. Electroencephalogram (EEG) was measured three times (before, during, and after the position) while the subject maintained one of four positions for ten minutes. There were significant changes in HRV components compared with EEG power spectra in the standing position. Especially, the ratio of low-to-high frequency (LF/HF) which represents a state of balance of autonomic nervous system was increased. In the sitting position, $\beta$ wave which reflects a state of alert consciousness was increased and both the sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves were activated. On the other hand, in the spine position, $\theta$ wave which signifies a state of relaxation was increased and heart rate (HR) was decreased. Activation of sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves was also observed in this position. Significant increases of indices related to awakening and concentration were observed accompanied by increase of HR and a sympathetic nerve was activated in the riding-horse position. In the present study, it was shown that each Qigong position caused various and significant changes in autonomic nervous system. It would be expected that these results can be applied in the choice of appropriate Qigong position according to objective of Qigong therapy although it is remained to further evaluate the effects of long-term maintenance of Qigong positions and repeated Qigong training.

Purpose: This study examined the most efficient exercise position to activate the gluteus medius (GM) and tensor fascia latae (TFL) in hip abduction in side-lying (HA-SL), clam in side-lying (CL-SL), and sling bridging in side-lying (SB-SL), which are the most representative GM exercises. Methods: Twenty-four healthy male adults aged from 20 to 40 years, whose body mass index was under 25, participated in this experiment. While all participants conducted three different positions with a counterbalanced manner, such as in AB, CL, and BR, activation of the GM and TFL was measured using 8-channel wireless EMG. Exercise was performed for 10 seconds three times in total with a five minute-break session. Results: Significant differences in GM and TFL activation were observed among the three positions (p<0.05). The highest activation of 60.69 was observed in BR followed in order by 46.03 and 12.92 in HA-SL and CL, respectively. TFL activation in HA-SL was 42.01, followed in order by 35.98 and 14.01 in BR and CL, respectively. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in TFL muscle activation between BR and HA-SL. Conclusion: These findings suggest that both BR and HA-SL in GM can be done selectively. CL has remarkably low muscle activation in GM and TFL, which makes it less valuable in GM and TFL exercise. In conclusion, selective BR and HA-SL exercise should be applied to maximally and effectively activate the GM.

Background Fellowship training is becoming more popular in plastic surgery, with over half of residents pursuing advanced training. Here, we investigate how clinical and research fellowship training impacts career trajectory and scholastic achievement in academic plastic surgery. Methods Plastic surgery faculty members, from programs recognized by the American Council of Academic Plastic Surgeons, were identified using institutional Web sites. Data extracted included faculty demographics, training history, academic positions, and research productivity. Continuous and categorical variables were compared using t-tests and chi-square, respectively. Results In total, 949 faculty members were included, with 657 (69%) having completed fellowship training. Integrated program residents were more likely to complete a fellowship when compared with independent residents (p < 0.0001). Fellowship trained faculty were more likely to have graduated from a higher ranked residency program, in terms of both overall and research reputation (p = 0.005 and p = 0.016, respectively). When controlling for years in practice, there was no difference found in number of publications, Hirsch index (h-index), or National Institutes of Health funding between faculty between the two cohorts (p > 0.05). In a subanalysis comparing hand, craniofacial, microsurgery, and research fellowships, those who completed a research fellowship had higher h-indices and were more likely to reach full professor status (p < 0.001 and p = 0.001, respectively). Fellowship training had no effect on being promoted to Chief/Chair of departments (p = 0.16). Conclusion Fellowship training is common among academic plastic surgeons. In this study, both clinical and research fellowships were associated with various aspects of academic success. However, fellowship training alone did not affect attainment of leadership positions.
