  • As the performance of microprocessor improves, the design complexity grows exponentially. Therefor, it is very important to make the bug-free model as early as possible in a design life-cycle. This paper describes the simulation-based functional verification methodology for the RTL level description model. It is performed by multi-stage verification methods using extensive hand-generated self-checking tests supplemented with random tests. This approach is opplied to the functional verification of the GPU processor of Raptor and various bugs are detected.

  • Torques on each joint, the compression on L5/S1 disc, the force on hand of a rider are estimated using a static biomechnic model. Forces that the rider applies to the pedals, saddle and handle during starting and speeding are estimated using static mechanics. Physical stress is considered accroding to handle height and horizontal distance between handle and pedal. When handle height is higher in normal speeding, the force on handle and sum of torques on each joint decreases.

  • The texture mapping used for the low-polygon models is one of the important workflows in the graphical representation of the 3D game. Only one hand painted texture is mapped on the surface of the 3D model and represents the color of the material and visual sense of touching by itself in that process. In the 3D game graphics, it is very important to visualize the textile sensation such as protruding and denting. It can be interpreted by the Gestalt Law to recognize a plane as a 3D sense of volume. Moreover, the concept of Affordance is necessary to recognize and perceive the textile sensation. It means visual recognizing of that relationship in the learning process. In this paper, The questionnaire survey targeting 3D game graphic designers is carried out. By analyzing the survey results, we suggest the important characteristic in the process of making hand painted texture.

SVM-Based EEG Signal for Hand Gesture Classification (서포트 벡터 머신 기반 손동작 뇌전도 구분에 대한 연구)

  • An electroencephalogram (EEG) evaluates the electrical activity generated by brain cell interactions that occur during brain activity, and an EEG can evaluate the brain activity caused by hand movement. In this study, a 16-channel EEG was used to measure the EEG generated before and after hand movement. The measured data can be classified as a supervised learning model, a support vector machine (SVM). To shorten the learning time of the SVM, a feature extraction and vector dimension reduction by filtering is proposed that minimizes motion-related information loss and compresses EEG information. The classification results showed an average of 72.7% accuracy between the sitting position and the hand movement at the electrodes of the frontal lobe.

A Meta-Analysis of the Effects of Aromatherapy Hand Massge (아로마테라피 손마사지 효과에 대한 메타분석)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of nursing intervention of aromatherapy hand massage. Method: In order to conduct a meta-analysis, a total of 124 studies were retrieved. From these studies, fifteen studies met the inclusion criteria with a total of 733 participants. And these studies published from January 2004 to July 2013 were included in the journal articles published in Korea. Results: In fifteen studies, Random effect model for the aromatherapy hand massage that 95% confidence level, significant level of p-valve on less than 0.001. Standardized Mean Difference reported systolic blood pressure(d=-9.5320), diastolic pressure(d=-8.8730), pulse(d=-9.1241), anxiety(d=-0.1469), and depression(d=-0.4489) All measurement variables were significantly decreased in the negative direction. Conclusion: This study suggests that aromatherapy hand massage can reduce the level of blood pressure(systolic, diastolic), pulse, anxiety and depression.

An Implementation of Real-Time Numeral Recognizer Based on Hand Gesture Using Both Gradient and Positional Information (기울기와 위치 정보를 이용한 손동작기반 실시간 숫자 인식기 구현)

  • An implementation method of real-time numeral recognizer based on gesture is presented in this paper for various information devices. The proposed algorithm steadily captures the motion of a hand on 3D open space with the Kinect sensor. The captured hand motion is simplified with PCA, in order to preserve the trace consistency and to minimize the trace variations due to noises and size changes. In addition, we also propose a new HMM using both the gradient and the positional features of the simplified hand stroke. As the result, the proposed algorithm has robust characteristics to the variations of the size and speed of hand motion. The recognition rate is increased up to 30%, because of this combined model. Experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm gives a high recognition rate about 98%.

  • In this paper, we propose a hand gesture recognition method by modifying the textNAS used for text classification so that it can be applied to multivariate time series data. It can be applied to various fields such as behavior recognition, emotion recognition, and hand gesture recognition through multivariate time series data classification. In addition, it automatically finds a deep learning model suitable for classification through training, thereby reducing the burden on users and obtaining high-performance class classification accuracy. By applying the proposed method to the DHG-14/28 and Shrec'17 datasets, which are hand gesture recognition datasets, it was possible to obtain higher class classification accuracy than the existing models. The classification accuracy was 98.72% and 98.16% for DHG-14/28, and 97.82% and 98.39% for Shrec'17 14 class/28 class.

  • Due to a growing demand for the second-hand product, especially for the expensive one, the warranty and maintenance policies for such products have been studied to improve the product reliability of late. In this paper we study a periodic maintenance model for the second-hand product which is purchased by the customer at the age of $x$. When purchased, the dealer provides a warranty of a fixed length during which the product is maintained periodically to reduce the failure rate of the product and thus, to improve the reliability after each maintenance is served. If a failure occurs between two successive maintenances, only minimal repair is conducted. As for the warranty policy, we adopt free non-renewing repair action on each failure, in addition to the periodic maintenance service during the warranty period. Thus, under the given warranty policy, all the maintenance and repair costs incurred during the warranty period are charged to the dealer. For the proposed periodic maintenance scheme, we formulate a cost model to evaluate the expected total cost charged to the dealer during the warranty period and derive an optimal upgrade level of the failure rate at each maintenance to minimize the expected total warranty cost from the perspective of the dealer. We also present numerical results for an optimal upgrade level based on the proposed methods.

  • In mathematical modeling activity modeling process is usually an iterative process. When model can not be solved, the model needs to be simplified by treating some variables as constants, or by ignoring some variables. On the other hand, when the results from the model are not precise enough, the model needs to be refined by considering additional conditions. In this study we investigate the role of spreadsheet model in model refinement and modeling process. In detail, we observed that by using spreadsheet model students can solve model which can not be solved in paper-pencil environment. And so they need not go back to model simplification process but continue model refinement. By transforming mathematical model to spreadsheet model, the students can predict or explain the real word situations directly without passing the mathematical conclusions step in modeling process.
