  • NFT technology is mostly used to create digital drawings, characters, and items, and to simply buy and sell, but research and development to spread to various contents of NFT are somewhat marginal. Therefore, this study aims to solve the above-described problems. Depending on the exercise performance, it allows users to create and trade custom NFTs. In addition, it supports users to own customized digital works through exercise performance or to make money by trading them. Through it, the aim is to enhance users' positive interest in exercise and provide devices and methods for providing customized NFT creation and trading services that can help them develop exercise habits.

식이이행 의도증진을 위한 중재가 고지혈증 근로자의 식이이행 의도 및 식이이행도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of the Intention Promotion Program on the Diet of Workers with Hyperlipemia based on the Theory of planned Behavior)

  • Hyperlipemia is the most leading risk factor of cardiovascular disease which is the main cause of death in Korea. However, there is a tendency to neglect the prevention and treatment since it has no specific symptoms. It has been reported that the level of serum-lipid can be lowered by the improvement of eating habits. Therefore, it is highly likely that the development of programs on the improvement of eating habits through behavioral theory is required to the community nursing practice. The theory of planned behavior, which assumes that human behaviors are determined by one's intention to carry out the behavior, can be characterized by the point that behaviors are not only individual factors but also social behaviors relating to subjective norms. It is widely recognized that this theory has a high predictability on health behavior due to it's simplicity clearness, and measurability as well as high quality of being general. Thus, the theory of planned behavior could be useful in developing a model of a health promotion program to the change of behaviors of the risk group of cardiovascular disease. Consequently, based on the theory of planned behavior, the purpose of this study is to develop an intention promotion program of the diet, and then to testify the effects. The sample of this study consisted of 26 industrial workers who had proved hyperlipemia from a medical examination in 1996 (experimental group 13, control group 13). The intention promotion program, which includes education, monitoring, pressure, counselling on the level of individuals, families and organizations, was conducted for 10 weeks The purpose of this program was to promoting intention of the diet through changes of the prerequisite factors of intention such as behavioral belief, outcome evaluation, normative belief and control belief. When it came to data analysis, the ${\chi}^2$-test and Fisher's Exact test were used to compare the general characteristics between the experimental and the control group, an independent t-test for the other variables. ANOVA was used to the test hypothesis, and the Pearson correlation test for variable's correlation. The results of this study can be summarized as follows ; 1) There was a significant increase in the intention(F=18.51, p=.00) of diet in the experimental group. 2) Diets(F=32.51, p=.001) in the experimental group were better carried out than in the control group. 5) There was a moderate correlation between the intention of diet and performance (r=.587. p=.003). From the results, it can be concluded that the intention promotion program is very effective, leading to the change of health promotion behavior. Above all, it is really valuable that the intention promotion program in this study regards health promotion behavior as a social behavior and that intervention was done on the level of family and organization. Consequently, when performing a health promotion program, social approach elevating the intention should go hand in hand in order to make the program effective.

어린이의 식습관(食習慣)이 체위(體位)에 미치는 영향(影響)에 관한 연구(硏究) (The Influence of Food Habits on Body Stature of Children)

  • The Purpose of this study was to determine every possible correlation between food habits and body statures of primary school children, aged ten years old. This study was conducted from July to October of 1975. In July, prepared questionaires concerning life style, anthropometry, food preference, and food behavior were distributed through school teachers to 425 children; 219 boys and 206 girls, in the 5th grade of three elementary schools in the city of Seoul. Then, in October, when subjects had been classified into underweight/obese by statistical analysis, mothers of obese or underweight children were interviewed by the authors to determine weaning history, daily food consumption of their children, and opinions of various snacks for children. Analysis of results in terms of correlation coefficient, chisquare test and percentage calculations, are as follows: 1. Physical growth and development Boys Girls Height (cm) $134.8{\pm}5.74\;134.4{\pm}5.97$ Weight (kg) $30.0{\pm}4.27\;29.5{\pm}5.16$ Chestgirth (cm) $64.1{\pm}3.59\;63.3{\pm}3.81$ Arm circumference (cm) $18.3{\pm}1.61\;18.2{\pm}1.70$ Triceps skinfold thickness (mm) $10.9{\pm}5.13\;12.7{\pm}4.86$ Various indices of nutrition such as relative weight, relative chestgirth, $R{\ddot{o}}hrer's$ index, Kaup index, Vervaeck index were determined. 2. Food habits 1) Food $preference{\cdots}{\cdots}A$ varying number of foods were selected from 60 items were accepted. It was found that the food which children liked best was fruit and snacks were popular one. Lowest ranking among LIKED foods were from strongly flavored vegetables and organ meat. In general, girls had more food dislikes than did boys. Selected as liked foods were fruits, rice noodle soup, biscuits, and peanuts. Disliked foods were liver, green onions, onions, green pepper, mushrooms, oysters, shellfish, and pork. Items which children never ate before were liver, mushrooms, fish cake, boiled rice mixed with sorghum, mayonnaise, and fresh water firsh. Reasons which children gave for dislike were undesirable flavor and odor. 2) Food $behavior{\cdots}{\cdots}It$ was found that boys liked sweet and salty flavors more than did the girls who more often liked sour flavor. The majority of children enjoyed evening meals more than lunch and breakfast. A number of children skipped breakfast because of lack of appetite or lack of time before going to school. Snacks were the most popular food, especially among girls. Their snacking habits were formed by the encouragement of the mother, and the relieve boredom. Educational backgrounds of mothers and family economical levels of children were remarkable correlated with mothers' attitudes toward feeding of children. There were several interesting findings relating body stature to some other responses; such as that the obese child has a small number of brothers, higher birth order, higher educated mothers and higher family cultural background. It was also discovered that food perference, except for fat and oil group foods was not related to body stature. Sweet taste was liked best and pepperly taste was mostly disliked. Sour taste was popular in the group of underweight. Underweight children were more finicky, disliked snacking, and didn't get much attention from their mothers. 3) Correlation between body stature and nutrition during their infancy. The majority of children, both from obese and underweight, were breast fed as infant. Twenty five per cent of obese children and 17.4 per cent of underwight children started weaning at $1{\sim}6$ months old. The most popular supplemental food of weaning was cereal gruel for the obese group, while boiled white rice and cereal gruel were most common for the underweight group. Highly significant relationships were found between stature of parents and their children. In the obese group 47.8 per cent of fathers and 45.9 per cent of mothers were overweight; however, none of the fathers and only one mother was found to be underweight. In daily food consumption patterns, meals consisting of bread or noodle were popular in the obese group but disliked by the underweight group. The study found clear contrast in that the obese group liked meat and fish while the underweight group liked fruits and vegetables, especially kimchee. The obese children desired to eat cereal foods, milk and milk products, and fat foods while the underweight group desired to eat fruits and vegetables. Frequency of snacks per day was much greater in the obese group. Foods which mothers believed to be good for the health were carrots, cucumbers, fruits, milk, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and breads, while sweet foods such as candies, drinks. chocolate were considered not good for the teeth. Watching television was not significantly related to statures of children. Most significant relationships were found beween frequencies of family guest meals/and eating-out, and children's statures. Nutritional problems which have been considered for the malnourished children in addition to those of children who have a tendency toward obesity, must be taken into consideration in the development of proper nutrition education through the channels of regular school teaching and teaching by parents in the homes. Korean standards of anthropometric measurements for children should be revised, current measurements show much higher figures than present Korean standards.

일부도시국민학교취학아동의 보건생활에 관한 실태조사연구 (A Study on Health Aspects of Daily Life of Elementary School Children in an Urban Area)

  • This study was carried out for the objectives to collect the basic informations on the health behaviors of the elementary school children in an urban area in Korea. Seven hundred students were drawn to fill in the designed questionnaire which carries variety of Questions on health re-lated behaviors in general, eating habits, disease history, mental health, and sex education. Questionnaire were filled in by their parents. Major findings are as follows: ① 55.7% had habits of washing the hands before eating whereas 59.8% trashing their hands after toilet. The others had no idea of washing hands before eating and after toilet. ② 26,5% had habits of brushing the teeth twice a day 54.7% only once in the morning, and 2.6% once only in the evening. Thus, the idea of prevention from decayed teeth seems to be lacking among the school children. ③ Bathing habits were also inquired to get 40.3% of bathing more than once a week, 43.1% once every two weeks, and the rest of 16.6% once every one to three months. ④ 41.7% keep the regular bedding time whereas 58.3% irregular. Physical exercises were con-ducted by 76.6% on the ground while 23.5% did not practice any physical exercises at all. Of those physical exercises, rope skipping occupied 37.5%, and the other 66.9% consisted of 14 different kinds of individual type physical exercises such as gymnastic exercise. The main reasons for not enjoying exercises were different by sex; boys largely complained the inadequacy and lack of gymnastic facilities and girls felt in short of friends who could join the exercises. ⑤ 31.9% of the school children had been taking not much of food while 28.3% had unbalanced diets. Of these unbalanced diets, meat occupied 33.2% to be the priority to have an order of the following items such as vegetables, bread or noodle, and fishes as next to each. For eating habits, 88.5% take simple snack such as bread (38.4%, cookies, fruits, and candies in order. 25.8% of the children were provided such snacks or their parents regularly. Breakfast was sufficiently taken by 45.0% whereas 8.4% had never sufficiently. As to the lunch, 63.6% had sufficiently while 16.8% insufficiently. 70.6% take breakfast with all family members together and 30.4% separately. Correlation of sufficient taking of breakfast and eating together of tile family member's seems to be significant when we compare 72.5% of sufficient takers who enjoy breakfast together with the family members with 55.6% of insufficient takers who enjoy it with the family. This finding allows the investigator to point out the importance of table circumstances for children's eating. ⑥ The most common disease was catching a cold (38.8%), and the second was stomach trouble to be followed by the frequency of car sickness, headache, and skin infection. Doctors are consulted only by 23.9% when they are sick whereas 59.7% resorted to the drug stores. The lower the educational attainment of the parents, the lower the rate of visiting clinics. ⑦ 36.7% of their parents pointed out the problems of personality guidance as the most difficult thing at home 71.3% of their parents worried about and unsatisfied with their children's personality traits. Of these complains of the parents, impatience stood at the top to be tabulated at 24.1%, and 21.1% indicated narrow-mindedness. In line with this primary socialization at home, the most crucial problem seems to be related with the lack or recognition of the parents'own role when we find only 43.1% of the parents understood the importance of their own role for the home education of children; the latter group attributed tile responsibility of personality formation to the children themselves. ⑧ As to the sex educational aspects, 30.9% of children have ever asked about the physiology of reproduction or sexual matters to their parents, of those parents only 17.0% could give the constructive responses to the inquiries of the children. In companies on with these data, 25.6% recognized their own role in sex education for their own children while the large segments of the parents (51.1%) attributed the responsibility of sex education to tile low level of 38.3% who recognized the importance of sex education in the school curriculum and 25.1% of the parents insisted to wait until they get to know naturally about sex. 38.1% of the parents said they had some knowledge on sex from books while 16.9% through mass media. The next groups had common senses of sex from their own parents, school friends and other sources.

부산광역시 일지역 65-84세 노인 인구에서의 수면습관 및 수면장애에 대한 조사 (Sleep Habits and Sleep Disorders among the Elderly Between 65-84 years Who are Living in a Part of Pusan)

  • 연구배경 : 나이가 들면서 수면습관에 많은 변화가 있고, 이와 함께 수면장애가 증가하나, 이에 대한 관심이 적기 때문에 노인 인구에서의 수면습관 변화에 따르는 문제점 및 수면장애에 대한관심이 적다. 따라서 본연구를 통하여 노년기에서의 수면습관 및 수면장애를 동시에 조사함으로서 노인인구에서의 수면습관 및 수면장애에 대한 관심을 고취시키려고 한다. 방법 : 부산시 일지역 거주 65세 이상 84세 이하 노인인구 933명 중 무작위로 표집한 206명 (22.08%)을 대상으로 개별 가정방문을 통하여 반구조화된 면담을 실시하였다. 결과 : 1. 평균취침시간은 $10.28{\pm}1.30$시 였고, 입면에 소요되는 시간은 $44.51{\pm}45.12$ 분이었다. 수면중간에 깨는 횟수는 하룻밤 $2.05{\pm}1.59$회 였고 중간에 깨어 있는 시간의 합산은 $42.08{\pm}49.80$ 분이었다. 아침에 깨어나는 시간은 $5.24{\pm}1.33$시였고 잠자리에서 일어나는 시간은 $6.25{\pm}1.38$시였다. 총수면 시간은 $5.63{\pm}1.80$시간이었다. 일주일에 $2.86{\pm}2.85$일간 입면 및/또는 수면유지의 곤란을 호소하였고 일주일에 $2.49{\pm}3.23$회의 낮잠을 자고 있었다. 2. 전체 조사대상 206 명중 116명 (57.7%)은 불면증 군으로, 85명(42.3%)은 비불면증 군으로 분류되었다. 불면증 중에서 108명(52.4%)은 입면에 어려움을, 103명(50.5%)은 새벽 일찍 깨는 것을, 93명 (45.1%)은 수면 유지의 어려움을 호소하였다. 3. 불면증이외의 수면장애에 대한조사에서 전체 조사대상 206명 중 악몽 68명(33.0%), 잠꼬대 43명(20.9%), 수면 무호흡증 30명(14.6%), 야경증 16명(7.8%) 등을 포함하는 다양한 수면장애의 가능성이 의심되었다. 4. 수면위생이 불량한 경우가 많았고, 전체 조사 대상 206 명중 현재 11명 (5.3%)이 불면증 때문에 수면제를 복용하고 있었고, 12명(5.8%)이 잠을 이루기 위하여 술을 마시고 있었다. 수면을 방해하는 요인으로는 잠자리에서의 걱정 81명(39.3%)과 신체적인 통증 38명(18.4%)이 가장 많았다. 5. 전체 조사대상 206 명중 110 명(55.2%)이 신체적인 불편을, 93명(45.4%)이 불안이나 우울 등의 심인적인 고통을 호소하고 있었고, 이는 불면증군에서 더 유의하게 많이 호소하였다.

청소년의 스트레스 인지수준이 식습관 및 구강건강행태에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Stress Perception Level on Dietary Habits and Oral Health Behaviors in Adolescents)

  • 이번 연구는 생애 과도기이자 입시 스트레스를 비롯한 여러 스트레스를 겪고 있는 고등학생을 대상으로 청소년의 스트레스 인지수준이 식습관과 구강보건행태에 어떤 관련성이 있는지 파악하고자 전라북도 일부 지역에 위치한 고등학교 1~3학년을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 가장 높은 스트레스 유형은 학업 스트레스로 $3.09{\pm}0.89$를 보였고, 그 다음은 가정(가족) 스트레스가 $2.85{\pm}0.84$로 나타났다. 여학생보다 남학생이 치과의료기관을 이용할 가능성은 적은 것으로 나타났으며, 주관적 구강건강상태에서는 본인의 구강건강상태가 좋지 않다고 생각하거나 보통이라고 생각하는 사람의 치과의료기관을 방문할 가능성이 적은 것으로 나타났다(p<0.05). 또한 스트레스가 높을수록 치과의료기관을 방문할 가능성은 높은 것으로 나타났고(p<0.05), 성적이 상위권인 학생들이 규칙적인 식사를 할 가능성이 높게 나타났다(p<0.01). 스트레스가 높을수록 우식성 식품을 섭취할 가능성이 유의하게 높았으며(p<0.01), 성적이 중위권인 학생들이 우식성 식품을 섭취의 가능성이 높게 나타났으나(p<0.01), 상위권인 학생들은 우식성 식품의 섭취 가능성이 낮게 나타났다(p<0.05). 이상의 결과로 볼 때 스트레스 인지수준이 식습관과 구강보건행태에 영향을 주고 있음을 나타내므로 스트레스를 완화시키기 위해 학교 내에서는 고등학생들의 신체적, 정신적 건강을 증진시킬 수 있는 프로그램을 개발해야 하며, 바람직한 식습관 형성을 위해 실질적이고 체계적인 구강보건교 육이 필요할 것으로 생각된다.

일개 보건소 대사증후군 관리프로그램의 효과분석 (The Effect of Metabolic Syndrome Management Program in a Public Health Center)

  • 이 연구는 서울시 1개 보건소를 대상으로 대사증후군 관리프로그램 등록자의 등록 당시와 6개월 후의 생활습관 및 대사증후군 위험인자의 변화를 비교 분석함으로써 대사증후군 관리사업의 효과를 평가하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 최종 분석대상자는 처음 사업을 시작한 2009년 6월부터 2010년 8월까지 서울시 1개 보건소에 등록하고, 6개월 후 재방문하여 설문과 재검사를 마친 430명 중 자료에 결측치가 없는 381명이었다. 연구 자료는 이들이 보건소에서 등록 관리 받으면서 작성한 설문지와 검사기록을 통해 수집되었다. 최종 분석대상자를 관리유형에 따라 분류하면 적극적 상담군이 110명(28.9%), 동기부여 상담군 A가 133명(35.0%), 동기부여 상담군 B가 138명(36.2%) 이었다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 등록자의 생활습관의 변화는 적극적 상담군에서 신체활동이 유의하게 증가되었다. 식습관은 0.7점 증가하였으며, 음주, 흡연은 감소하였으나 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 동기부여 상담군 A에서는 중등도 신체활동과 흡연, 음주에서 통계적으로 유의한 변화가 있었으나 식습관은 거의 변화가 없었다. 동기부여 상담군 B에서는 신체활동이 통계적으로 유의하게 감소하였으며, 식습관은 변화가 없었고, 음주, 흡연은 감소하였으나 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 둘째, 대사증후군 위험인자 변화는 적극적 상담군에서 수축기 혈압, 이완기 혈압, TG는 통계적으로 유의하게 감소하였으며(P<0.05), (P<0.01), (P<0.01), HDL-C는 증가하였으나 통계적으로 유의하지 않았고 허리둘레, 식전혈당은 오히려 증가하였으나 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 동기부여 상담군 A는 허리둘레, 수축기 혈압, 이완기 혈압, 중성지방은 감소하였고, HDL-C 또한 증가하였으나 통계적으로 모두 유의하지 않았으며, 식전혈당은 오히려 증가하였다. 동기부여 상담군 B는 TG만 통계적으로 유의하게 감소하였고, HDL-C는 증가하였으나 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 수축기 혈압, 이완기 혈압은 낮아졌으나 식전혈당, 허리 둘레는 오히려 통계적으로 유의하게 증가하였다. 셋째, 주관적 건강상태는 관리군(적극적 상담군, 동기부여 상담군 A, 동기부여 상담군 B) 모두에서 통계적으로 유의하게 긍정적으로 변화하였다. 넷째, 대사증후군 등록자의 6개월 후 재검율은 전체 19.0%이며, 적극적 상담군 29.4%, 동기부여 상담군 A는 19.0%, 동기부여 상담군 B는 14.5%로 나타났다. 등록경로별로 보면 직접 방문하여 대사증후군 관리사업에 등록된 경우가 이동검진이나 건강검진을 통해 등록한 경우보다 높았다. 등록 관리 6개월간 월1회 방문하게 하여 적극적으로 관리서비스를 제공한 적극적 상담군에서 생활습관 및 위험인자들의 변화가 있었으며, 동기부여 상담군에서는 변화가 미미하였다. 즉 제공된 관리서비스의 양과 질에 따라 생활습관과 대사증후군 위험인자 변화에는 차이가 있었다. 하지만 전체적으로는 보건소 대사증후군 관리 사업은 사업목표 달성을 위해 보다 더 효과적인 사업전략 개발이 필요하다 하겠다.

도시지역 일부 고등학생들의 우울과 불안에 관한 조사 연구 (A Study on the Depression and Anxiety of High School Students in an Urban Area)

  • This study has examined the degree of depression and anxiety among high school students in an urban area and then explored the factors influencing their depression and/or anxiety status. Self-administered questionnaires were offered to 2,381 students from ten high schools in Daejon Metropolitan City. The items for investigation included such factors as various characteristics of school and family life, daily life style, and the degree of depression and anxiety. Based on the study results, the following conclusions were made; 1. The distribution according to the depression degree has shown that 61.9% of students were normal, 32.9% of students had mild depression, 5.0% moderate depression, and 0.3% severe depression. As for anxiety, 40.2% of students were normal, while 19.1% were classified as having anxiety and 40.7% borderline anxiety. 2. As regards to the degree of depression and anxiety, it was greater in girls than boys, in 3rd graders than 1st and 2nd graders, and in the groups who have recieved lower grades in studies, who had poor relations with their friends and a low feeling of satisfaction with school life. In particular, concerning various characteristics of family life, the scores of depression and anxiety were higher in the groups whose financial conditions were poor, whose parents' interests were lower, whose degree of satisfaction with their family and school life was lower, than their counterparts. 3. According to their life styles higher scores of depression and anxiety were found in the groups whose sleeping time was inappropriate, whose breakfasts were skipped, who ate daily snacks, who didn't take regular exercises, and who had poor health habits, compared to their counterparts, respectively. 4. As for the correlation between the degree of depression and its associated variables, the higher scores of depression were in positive correlation with the groups who had lower grades in studies, poor relation with their friends, low feeling of satisfaction with school and home life, low parents' interest, poor subjective condition of health, breakfast skipping, lack of regular exercises, and lower indices of health habits. 5. As for anxiety, the higher scores of anxiety were in the positive correlation with the groups with poor relation with their friends, low feeling of satisfaction with school and family life, poor subjective condition of health, lack of regular exercises, and poor health habits. 6. The influential factors on the depression of students were selected such as subjective condition of health, sex, feeling of satisfaction with family and school life, grades in studies, relation with their friends, presence of regular exercises, degree of interest of parents, sleeping time, cigarette smoking and eating breakfast. 7. The influential factors on the anxiety state of students were selected such as subjective condition of health, feeling of satisfaction with family and school life, sex, sleeping time, regular exercises, cigarette smoking, snacking and relations with their friends. The present study results suggest that girls rather than boys, higher graders than lower ones are more vulnerable to anxiety and depression state, and besides, various characteristics of school and family life, and daily life style can be influential on students' emotional states. Therefore, better management of psychological status of students is thought to require a wide variety of measures to modify the influencing factors and to encourage social support.

  • 본 연구는 한국산 무당개구리의 먹이 습성을 알아보기 위하여 1990년 4월부터 1992년 9월까지 한반도 내륙지방 네 지역과 제주도 여덟 지역에서 채집된 487개체를 대상으로 이루어졌다. 내륙지방과 제주도 개체군사이의 개체 당 먹이 개체 수에는 차이가 없었으며, 보통 1-3개체의 먹이를 포식하지만 제주산에서는 94개체를 먹은 개체도 있었다. 내륙산 무당개구리의 먹이의 종류는 13목, 제주산은 10목이 조사되었고, 딱정벌레류와 벌류의 포식빈도와 포식된 먹이 개체수가 높게 나타났다. 두 개체군의 종류별 포식빈도는 비슷한 양상으로 나타났지만, 포식된 각 종류별 먹이 수는 다른 양상을 보였다. 내륙산 무당개구리가 보다 다양한 종류의 먹이를 포식하며 한정된 종류를 포식하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 한국산 무당개구리의 월별 먹이 습성은 내륙산 무당개구리는 5월부터 10월까지, 제주산에서는 4월에서 9월까지 먹이 활동을 하는 차이점을 보였다. 포식된 먹이류 중에 딱정벌레류와 벌류는 조사기간 동안 한국산 무당개구리의 두 개체군에서 고르게 분포하였다. 한국산 무당개구리가 먹이로 삼는 목의 수, 포식빈도, 한 개체당 포식된 개체수가 모두 여름철에 높게 나와 가장 활발한 먹이 활동 시기는 여름철이라고 판단된다.

우리 나라 치과 기공사의 신체 자각 증상과 직업 관련 건강 위험 요인 (Subhective Symptoms and Work-related Health Risk Factors in Korean Dental Laboratory Technicians)

  • Although dental laboratory technicians are prone to be exposed to various work-related health hazardous materials such as dusts, chemicals, etc., the prevalence and nature of work-related health problems of them have not been a matter of great concern in the field of occupational health service in Korea. The purpose of the present investigation was to describe a collected profile of subjective health symptoms and their attributable factors in Korean dental laboratory technicians. A questionnaire listing five groups of health symptoms and five health symptom-related factors was mailed to randomly selected 1,900 dental laboratory technicians. Among them, 1,344 dental laboratory technicians filled out the questionnaires and returnde them. Five groups of health symptoms included musculoskeletal symptom, dermal symptoms, respiratory symptoms, eys symptoms, and ear symptoms. Five health symptom-related factors were occupational environment-related health risk factors, work history, health related habits and status, use of personal protective equipment and general characteristics. Detailed parameters of health risk factors were work posture, vibration, and chemical or physical hazards such as dust, fume, vapor, solvent, light, and noise for occupational environment-related factors; work place, area, number of employees, work hours, career, work part, and work load for work history; Broca's index, hours of sleep, eating, smoking, alcohol, exercise, health examination, and self assessed health status for health habits and status; face masks, goggles, and so on for use of personal protective equipment, and; age, sex, marital status, and education for general characteristics. Before the start of main survey, a pilot survey was carried out for validity and reliability tests of the questionnaire. All the data obtained were coded and analyzed with PC/SAS 6.12 program. The prevalence of health symptoms was the highest in musculoskelton (87.3%), and followde by eyes (78.9%), respiratory organs (64.3%), ears (57.8%), and skin (52.2%) in descending order. Statistically significant risk factors by multiple logistic regression analyses were sex, health examination, self assessed health status, and hand/finger posture in musculoskeletal symptoms; sex, self assessed health status, career, acid gas, and hand contact with resin mixture in deraml symptoms; Broka's smoking, exercise, self assessed health status, and face mask in respiratory symptoms; sex, hours of sleep, self assessed health status, work hours, work load, plaster dust, inadequate lighting, and goggle in eys symptoms, and eating, smoking, self assessed health status, and work load in ear symptoms. With the above considerations in mind, prevalence of subjective symptoms among Korean dental laboratory technicians was relatively high, and they were attributable to most of the occupational environment-related factors, work history, use of personal protective equipment, health habits and status, and general characteristics. Particularly, it is suggested that health promotion programs for promoting self- assessed health status and smoking cessation, preventive measures for protection of the female technicians’health, and reducing work load be necessary, since those factors were associated with more than one subjective symptom.
