  • (1-X)LTC-XHTC composites were manufactured with the variation of X in the range of 0.3 $\leq$X $\leq$0.6 and its dielectric properties were investigated. Here, LTC and HTC are PZN-BT-PT -based ceramics with quire temperature(Tc) of 100。 C-3$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. 0.6HTC-0.4LTC composite ceramics show excellent values of $\Delta$$\varepsilon$$_{r}$/$\varepsilon$[%] which were -7.1% at -2$0^{\circ}C$ and -12% at 5$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. It is thought that composite ceramics with above results can be applied to electrostrictive actuator, high voltage ceramic capacitor etc.mic capacitor etc.r etc.c.

  • Motion estimation is a key Natural User Interface/Natural User Experience (NUI/NUX) technology to utilize motions as commands. HTC VIVE is an excellent device for estimating motions but only considers the positions of hands, not the orientations of arms. Even if the positions of the hands are the same, the meaning of motions can differ according to the orientations of the arms. Therefore, when the positions of arms are measured and utilized, their orientations should be estimated as well. This paper proposes a method for estimating the arm orientations based on the Bayesian probability of the hand positions measured in advance. In experiments, the proposed method was used to measure the hand positions with HTC VIVE. The results showed that the proposed method estimated orientations with an error rate of about 19%, but the possibility of estimating the orientation of any body part without additional devices was demonstrated.

  • Petascale systems(so called supercomputers) have been mainly used for supporting communication-intensive and tightly-coupled parallel computations based on message passing interfaces such as MPI(HPC: High-Performance Computing). On the other hand, computing paradigms such as High-Throughput Computing(HTC) mainly target compute-intensive (relatively low I/O requirements) applications consisting of many loosely-coupled tasks(there is no communication needed between them). In Korea, recently emerging applications from various scientific fields such as pharmaceutical domain, high-energy physics, and nuclear physics require a very large amount of computing power that cannot be supported by a single type of computing resources. In this paper, we present our HTCaaS(High-Throughput Computing as a Service) which can leverage national distributed computing resources in Korea to support these challenging HTC applications and describe the details of our system architecture, job execution scenario and case studies of various scientific applications.

  • Torrefaction and hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) are productive methods to reclaim energy from lignocellulosic biomass. The hydrophobic, homogenized, energy dense and carbon rich solid fuel can be obtain from torrefaction and hydrothermal carbonization. Dead leaves were carbonized in a stainless steel reactor of volume 200 ml with torrefaction ($250-270^{\circ}C$) for 120 minutes and hydrothermal carbonization ($200-250^{\circ}C$) for 30 minutes, with mass yield solid fuel ranging from 57-70% and energy content from 16.81MJ/kg to 22.01 MJ/kg compare to the biomass. The char produced from torrefaction process possess high energy content than hydrothermal carbonization. The highest energy yield of 89.96% was obtained by torrefaction at $250^{\circ}C$. The energy densification ratio fluctuated in between 1.15 to 1.30. On the basis of pore size distribution of the chars, the definition of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) was used as a classification standard. The pore diameter was ranging within 11.09-19 nm which play important role in water holding capacity in soil. Larger pores can hold water and provide passage for small pores. Therefore, it can be concluded that high pore size char can be obtained my HTC process and high energy content char of 22.01 MJ/Kg with 34.04% increase in energy can be obtain by torrefaction process.

  • This study applied a hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) method to carbonize sewage sludge in order to satisfy the criteria of the Waste Management Act for recycled products and to explore the possibility of recycling sludge into modification blocks. Cement was mixed with carbonized sludge generated at the optimal temperature and reaction time during HTC. After that, the compressive strengths of the modification blocks were measured by conducting both a performance and leaching test. The results of the leaching test showed that heavy metals were not detected, and the specific gravity and absorption rates were less than 1.7 and 10%, respectively, indicating that all species satisfied the criteria. The results of the compressive strength test showed that a mixing ratio of 5% and 7% with cement cured for 28 days satisfied the criteria of A, B, and C type blocks but a mixing ratio of 3% with cement did not satisfy the criteria of A type blocks after 28 days. However, after additional curing for 42 days, the mixing ratio of 3% also satisfied the A type block criteria. Therefore, the optimal mixing ratio of carbonized sludge and cement was considered to be between 3% and 5% and confirmed that the modified blocks could be utilized as aggregates.

  • The research presents an application of Balanced ANOVA (BANOVA) by utilizing randomized orders for various Split-Plot Designs (SPDs) which include two cell designs, split-plot with one-way HTC (Hard to Control) factor, split-plot with two-way HTC factor, split-split-plot design and nested design. In addition, four MINITAB examples of 2-level split-plot designs based on the number of blocks and the type of whole-plots are presented for practitioners to obtain comprehensive understanding. Furthermore, the geometrical interrelated properties among three typical Designs of Experiments (DOE), such as Factorial Design (FD), Response Surface Design (RSD), and Mixture Design (MD) are discussed in this paper.

  • In this paper, a fixed-horizon $H_{\infty}$ tracking control (HTC) for continuous time-varying systems is proposed in state-feedback case. The solution is obtained via the dynamic game theory. From HTC, an intervalwise receding horizon $H_{\infty}$ tracking control (IHTC) for continuous periodic systems is obtained using the intervalwise strategy. The conditions under which IHTC stabilizes the closed-loop system are proposed. Under proposed stability conditions, it is shown that IHTC guarantees the $H_{\infty}$-norm bound.
