Tetrahydrobiopterin ($BH_4$) is a pivotal cofactor for enzymes responsible for the synthesis and release of monoamine neurotransmitters including dopamine and serotonin as well as the release of glutamate. Deficiencies in $BH_4$ levels and reduced activities of $BH_4$-associated enzymes have been recently reported in patients with schizophrenia. Accordingly, it is possible that abnormalities in the biochemical cascades regulated by $BH_4$ may alter DA, 5-HT and Glu neurotransmission, and consequently contribute to the pathophysiology of different neuropsychiatric diseases including schizophrenia. The development of a novel strain of mutant mice that is deficient in $BH_4$ by knocking out the expression of a functional sepiapterin reductase gene (spr -/-) has added new insights into the potential role of $BH_4$ in the pathophysiology and improved treatment of schizophrenia.
In this work, we report on the characterization of six low-$T_g$ poly[methyl-3-(9-carbazolyl) propylsiloxane] based photorefractive (PR) composites sensitized with poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) in different concentrations, ranging from 0.2 to 1 wt %. At 632.8 nm, photoconductivity, space charge field, refractive index modulation, and grating buildup time were measured versus external electric field. The photoconductivity was strongly dependent on the visible light absorption and mobility. The magnitude of space charge field was affected by the conductivity contrast $\sigma_{ph}/(\sigma_{ph}+\sigma_d)$. The refractive index modulation increased with the magnitude of space charge field and the PR grating buildup speed increased with the photoconductivity.
Tricholoma matsutake, one of edible and medicinal mushroom belonging to Tricholomaceae of Agaricales, has been known to contain some curing effect on gastric cancer and ulcer, and inhibitory effect on sarcoma 180 and Ehrlich sarcoma. Neutral salt soluble (0.9% NaCl), hot water soluble and methanol soluble substances (hereinafter referred to Fr. NaCl, Fr. HW and Fr. MeOH, respectively) were extracted from fruiting body of the mushroom. In vitro cytotoxicity tests, crude polysaccharides were not cytotoxic against cancer cell lines such as Sarcoma 180, HepG2, HT29 and NIH3T3 at the concentration of 2.0 mg/ml. Intraperitoneal injection with crude polysaccharides showed life prolongation effect of 23.4$\sim$37.2% in mice previously inoculated with Sarcoma 180. Fr. MeOH and Fr. HW exhibited the immuno-potentiating activity of B lymphocyte by increasing the alkaline phosphatase activity by 2.2$\sim$11.9 folds compared with control at the concentration of 0.2$\sim$0.5 mg/ml. In case of Fr. NaCl, the numbers of peritoneal exudate cells and circulating leukocytes were increased by 6.0 and 1.5 folds at the concentration of 50 mg/kg, respectively. Therefore, it is concluded that crude polysaccharides extracted from fruiting body of Tricholoma matsutake showed antitumor and immuno-potentiating activity against Sarcoma 180 of mouse.

Eleven mycotoxins, including aflatoxins, ochratoxin A, fumonisins, zearalenone, T-2 toxin, deoxynivalenol, and HT-2 toxin, were analyzed simultaneously in rice, barley, and maize produced in 2011 by liquid chromatography coupled with triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS). Limits of detection (LOD) are 0.2 ${\mu}g/kg$ for aflatoxin $B_1$, and $G_1$, 0.3 ${\mu}g/kg$ for aflatoxins $B_2$, and $G_2$, 0.1 ${\mu}g/kg$ for ochratoxin, fumonisins, zearalenone, and T-2 toxin and 3.0 ${\mu}g/kg$ for deoxynivalenol and HT-2 toxin. Limits of quantification (LOQ) were 0.6 ${\mu}g/kg$ for aflatoxins $B_1$, and $G_1$, 0.9 ${\mu}g/kg$ for aflatoxins $B_2$, and $G_2$, 0.3 ${\mu}g/kg$ for ochratoxin, fumonisins, zearalenone, and T-2 toxin and 10.0 ${\mu}g/kg$ for deoxynivalenol and HT-2 toxin. Recoveries for 11 mycotoxins ranged from 70.45 to 111.11%. Fumonisins, deoxynivalenol, and zaeralenone were detected from 0.9 to 334.0 ${\mu}g/kg$ in the polished rice, barley and raw corn cultivated in Korea. Other mycotoxins were not detected. Deoxynivalenol contamination was mainly found in barley (24 out of 43 samples) and the average value in positive samples was 113.30 ${\mu}g/kg$.
Hematological conditions were measured to the cultured bastard halibut classified by control group and establishments of mari-floating netcages from April 7, 1990 to May 24, 1990. The RBC, Hb, HT, MCHC, MCH and MCV values were $289{\pm}61{\times}10/^4/mm^3$, $4.8{\pm}0.9g/dl$, $22{\pm}6%$, $22.7{\pm}4.0%$, $16.9{\pm}3.3pg$ and $77{\pm}19{\mu}m^3$ respectively in the hematological conditions of control group. Relation between Hb and Ht was represented highly positive(r=0.805, p<0.01>, and relation between MCV and MCH was represented positive (r=0.696, p<.0.05) in the control group. In the variation of hematological conditions classified by experimental group, RBC of PVC group was returned $293{\pm}57{\times}10/mm^3$ on the 21th after locomotion to mari-floating netcages. RBC of netron group was also returned as control level on the 21th after locomotion, showed stabilization. Hb of PVC and netron group was low in the range of variation, was represented $3.9{\pm}9.6g/dl$ on the 45th after locomotion. The group that was also satabilizied variation of Ht were PVC, netron group. According to the results of hematological conditions classified by establishment of mari-floating netcages, the experiment group that were stabilized variation were in order of PVC, netron and pole-PVC group. But the other groups were extended the range of variation.
The purpose of this study was to provide information on athletes' characteristics and advantages and disadvantages by analyzing the kinematic factors having a decisive influence on competitive abilities such as release conditions in the delivery phase on major Korean javelin athletes. Two supported javelin throwers of the Korean national team participated in this study. The total average time required of the delivery phase was 0.31(${\pm}0.016$). The athletes' release angle was 33.2 to 41.7 degrees. The attack angle varied widely from -3.5 to 5.9 degrees. The Javelin heights of Subject A and B were 95.9 and 89.2%Ht. The average stride length were 180.6 and 176.7cm. The center of mass velocity of LFD and REL was relatively low in all the subjects. The average deceleration rates of center of mass velocity of Subject A and B were 57.2 and 48.9%lose. The left knee angles of Subject A and B were 160.1 and 155.5 degrees in LFD, 153.0 and 164.0 degrees in REL. The joint velocity of upper limb segments was relatively low in all the subjects. The maximum average wrist velocity of Subject A and B was 18.2 and 16.3 m/s in REL.
To determine the optimum water temperature (a temperature which minimizes metabolic activities and stress in fish) for long distance transportation of red-spotted grouper (Epinephelus akaara), by evaluating the behavior, survival and physiological and hematological responses to variable water temperature conditions (9, 12, 15, 18 and $21^{\circ}C$) for 48 hours. Fish exposed to $9^{\circ}C$ died at 48 hours exposure, but those exposed to 12, 15, 18 and $21^{\circ}C$ treatment groups all survived. Fish in the 15, 18 and $21^{\circ}C$ exposure groups exhibited normal swimming, while those exposed to $12^{\circ}C$ were observed to be stationary at the bottom of the tank. The plasma cortisol and glucose concentration were higher in fish exposed to $12^{\circ}C$ than at other temperature conditions. The fish in the 12 and $15^{\circ}C$ groups had significantly higher hematocrit (Ht) and hemoglobin (Hb) than those in the 18 and $21^{\circ}C$ groups (P<0.05). Levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), $NH_3$ and osmolality showed a pattern similar to the levels of plasma cortisol, while alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and total protein did not significantly vary among the experimental groups. These results indicate that the optimum water temperature for long distance transportation of the red-spotted grouper is $15^{\circ}C$.

In recent years novel potential pharmocological candidates have been looked for in animal, seaweed, sponge, fungi and marine bacteria resources. In this study, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) that play an important role in metastasis, arthritis, chronic inflammation and wrinkle formation were used as target enzymes to screen therapeutic agents. The inhibitory effects of several marine algae including green algae (5 species), red algae (18 species) and brown algae (4 species) methanolic extracts on MMPs were investigated in human dermal fibroblasts and human fibrosarcoma cell line (HT1080 cells) using gelatin zymography. In human dermal fibroblasts, the inhibition of MMP-2 was observed in Laurencia okamurae, Polysiphonia japonica, Grateloupia lanceolate and Sinkoraena lancifolia of red algae. In contrast, MMP-2 activation was enhanced in Enteromorpha compressa and E. linza of green algae, and Peltaronia bighamiae and Sargassum thunbergii of brown algae. In human fibrosarcoma cells, MMP-9 activation was decreased in the presence of S. thunbergii of brown algae, Polysiphonia japonica in red algae and E. compressa and E. linza of green algae. The interesting finding is that E. compressa and E. linza of green algae, and S. thunbergii of brown algae exhibited a positive effect on MMP-2 in normal cells, but a negative effect on MMP-9 in cancer cell lines. These results suggest that E. compressa and E. linza of green algae, and S. thunbergii of brown algae contain potential therapeutic ingredients for cancer treatment.
