A Study on Swaging Characteristics of Band for Low Pressure Hose (저압 호스용 밴드의 체결특성에 관한 연구)

  • Hose bands, which are used in LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) or LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) facilities for home use to join low pressure hoses with fuse-cocks (or regulators), should give a tight connection to prevent a gas leakage from hose connection parts. In this paper, hydraulic pressure tests and pull force tests were carried out to evaluate the performance and swaging length of hose bands. Experimental results showed that the swaging force of ear type bands were higher than those of spring bands and also showed that the optimal swaging length was about 1${\~}$2 mm from the hose end.

  • The high pressure hoses are widely used for the vehicles, aircraft, and overall industries. The hose assembly is generally composed of a nipple, a socket and a hose with reinforcement layers to increase the tensile strength. To produce the hose assembly, crimping or swaging process is usually used to clamp its components to ensure the prevention of fluid leakage. Crimping is a cold-working technique to form a strong bond between the workpiece and a non-metallic component. The crimping stroke is a primary parameter to be determined in the metalworking process, and it plays an important role in hose performance. This study aims at investigating the optimal crimping stroke according to the size of aircraft high pressure hose by using MSC/MARC. It is supposed that the results can be useful to get the information about the crimping stroke in manufacturing process, even with the different size of a hose.

  • A concrete docking hose of pump car's boom pipe line have been used in many construction sites. They are long structures with continuous cornering, similar to a trunk of the elephant, characterized by a very high pressure resistance of 20MPa. They need flexible materials and structure in order to move the hose smoothy. But commercial concrete hose is hard to handle and heavy owing to adaption of steel reinforcement. In this study, it is tried an experimental approach to the characteristic of inner rubber layer and abrasion resistance. Also, we are investigated the bursting pressure according to the reinforcement of the hose and propose the usefulness of the hose reinforced with high strengthened aramid fiber.

  • A flexible hose attached to a mother ship experiences various motions that depend on the movement of the mother ship and that of underwater vehicle. Although the motion of the hose is a very important factor that determines how a mother ship should be steered in a real situation, it is difficult to experimentally obtain information about the hose motion. Therefore, we study the motion of the hose analytically. The ANCF(absolute nodal coordinate formulation) was used to model the hose, because this formulation can relax the Euler-Bernoulli theory and the Timoshenko beam theory and allow the deformation of the cross section. The mother ship is assumed to be a rigid body with 6 degrees of freedom. The motion of the hose is predominantly affected by the behavior of the mother ship and by the fluid flow.

Study on the Pressure Loss of Hoses in a Fire Hose Reel Hydrant (호스릴옥내소화전 호스에 대한 압력손실에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the pressure loss of a fire hose reel hydrant was examined and the effects of each factor on the pressure loss were analyzed. First, in the pressure loss experiment according to the length of the reel hose, the pressure loss increased with increasing length of the reel hose; it was approximately 38.86% based on a 25 m hose. Second, the pressure loss of the reel hose per unit length was estimated to be $.13{\sim}.15kgf/cm^2$. Third, in the pressure loss experiment according to the change in the flow rate, the result was similar to the relation, flow rate - pressure loss (${\Delta}P{\sim}Q^2$), in the piping flow. These results provide basic data on the evaluation of fire pump pressure and the performance-based fire-protecting design of fire hose reel hydrants used in buildings.

A Study on Adhesion Test Methods for Fire Hose (소방호스 밀착강도시험방법에 관한 연구)

  • In order to improve the adhesion test methods for fire hose, 7 kinds of standards (KOFEIS, UL, FM, NFPA, BS, Chinese standard, JIS, JFEII standard) in 5 countries (Korea, USA, UK, China, Japan) were compared and adhesion tests were conducted by using the samples choosed randomly from the product produced in Korea. It was concluded that the sample size, the rate of seperation of a strip of the lining from the janet and standard judgment should be more differed and divided in accordance with the fire hose number in adhesion test to get the high Quality of fire hose.

  • In this paper, an experimental identification method is presented to identify the bulge wave and extensional wave propagation speeds in the fluid-filled elastic hose. An fluid-filled hose is hanged vertically for straight position. The exciting device of piston type is developed to generate the bulge wave and extensional wave in the elastic hose. Hydrophones are arranged in the fluid-filled hose linearly to measure the wave pressure. The wave speeds are estimated using the wavenumber-frequency spectrum analysis technique.

  • The failures such as leakage and burst stemmed from the repetitive motions of bending and stretching of the assembly of hydraulic hose in construction machines, agriculture machines, vehicles, and industrial heavy machines can induce big troubles. Therefore, the hydraulic hose itself eventually requires an estimation of life to operate the hydraulic system safely. In this research, we have qualitatively selected the efficient test items by the analysis of the life and potential failures of hydraulic hose. We have used more than seven of hydraulic hoses simultaneously for the research. We have applied impulse pressure and half omega flexing motions to the accelerated life testing Test results have been expressed by employing weibull plot.

  • The performance of hose reel hydrant system and indoor hydrant system was tested comparatively. At that result, a hose reel hydrant system are excellent and have the same performance as indoor hydrant system. If hose reel hydrant system has the performance that pressure is more than 0.17 MPa and flow-rate is over 130 LPM at the nozzle, it can be substituted for indoor hydrant system.

  • 최근 급격한 스마트 기기와 통신기술의 발전은 다양한 분야에서 센세이션을 일으키며 우리 삶을 혁명적으로 바꿔 놓고 있다. 이러한 변화에는 주변 상황정보를 인식하여 처리하는 상황정보 처리 시스템의 발전이 큰 역할을 하고 있다. 그러나 상황정보를 받아 처리하는 미들웨어 시스템의 범용화, 규격화가 이뤄지지 않아 미들웨어의 재사용이 어려워 중복개발 등으로 유비쿼터스 저변확대에 저해가 되고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 상황정보 데이터를 규격화 하고 독립적이고 모듈화된 메시지 기반의 미들웨어를 설계하고, 외부와의 인터페이스에 XML을 이용한 범용 미들웨어 응용 시스템을 제안한다.
