  • Epoxy resins are gradually becoming some of the most important and versatile polymers in modem civil engineering. Because epoxy resins have some unigue properties, such as toughness, versatility of viscosity and curing conditions, good handling characteristics, high adhesive strength, inertness, low shrinkage compared to most other thermo-setting resins and concrete, and resistance to chemicals, they have found many applications in construction castings, repair materials, road or bridge deck pavements, coatings, and as structural or non structural adhesives. In this applications, epoxy resins are widely used for polymer concretes, grouting materials, injection glues, and sealants. In this paper, characteristics of deformation of repair material after repaired have been investigated by viscosity of repair material and the width of crack. It is believed that flexural strength of epoxy resin with low viscosity is high because tensile strength is high and elongation at break is low, fracture energy is low.

  • The friction behavior of a 60-${\mu}m$-thick anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) film having cylindrical nanopores of 45-nm diameter was investigated as a function of impregnated oil viscosity ranging from 3.4 to 392.6 cSt. Reciprocating ball-on-flat sliding friction tests using a 1-mm-diameter steel ball as the counterpart were carried out with normal load ranging from 0.1 to 1 N in an ambient environment. The friction coefficient significantly decreased with an increase in the oil viscosity. The boundary lubrication film remained effectively under all test conditions when high-viscosity oil was impregnated, whereas it was easily destroyed when low-viscosity oil was impregnated. Thin plastic deformed layer patches were formed on the worn surface with high-viscosity oil without evidence of tribochemical reaction and transfer of counterpart material.

  • Investigating the seepage characteristics of the leaching solution in the ore-bearing layer during the in situ leaching process can be useful for designing the process parameters for the uranium mining well. We prepared leaching solutions of four different viscosities and conducted experiments using a self-developed multifunctional uranium ore seepage test device. The effects of different viscosities of leaching solutions on the seepage characteristics of uranium-bearing sandstones were examined using seepage mechanics, physicochemical seepage theory, and dissolution erosion mechanism. Results indicated that while the seepage characteristics of various viscosities of leaching solutions were the same in rock samples with similar internal pore architectures, there were regular differences between the saturated and the unsaturated stages. In addition, the time required for the specimen to reach saturation varied with the viscosity of the leaching solution. The higher the viscosity of the solution, the slower the seepage flow from the unsaturated stage to the saturated stage. Furthermore, during the saturation stage, the seepage pressure of a leaching solution with a high viscosity was greater than that of a leaching solution with a low viscosity. However, the permeability coefficient of the high viscosity leaching solution was less than that of a low viscosity leaching solution.

  • In this research experimentally analyzes the flow characteristics of a combined High flowing Self-Compacting Concrete of which the viscosity agent and defoaming agent addition amount are changed, to make the combined High flowing Self-Compacting Concrete that can secure the required flow performance and air amount. As a result of the experiment, the slump flow of the combined High flowing Self-Compacting Concrete added with viscosity agent increases when the viscosity agent addition amount is 0.2%(${\times}$W %). When viscosity agent addition amount increases, viscosity agent shows that it largely deviates from the regulation value in the flow time of V-funnel, which is presented in the JSCE standards (grade 2). Also, all mixtures, except for mixtures added with viscosity agent, defoaming agent, and AE agent, do not meet a target air amount $4.5{\pm}1.5%$. High flowing Self-Compacting Concrete mixtureadded with defoaming agent shows that although time passes after its first mixture, its air amount reduces a little. Based on the experiment, we can know an optimal polymer amount to obtain the required flow performance

  • An exopolysaccharide, designated as A49-Pol, was produced from Bacillus polymyxa KCTC 8648P in nitrogen sufficient conditions. The viscosity of the culture broth increased up to $2\times10^4$cP in 38 hours of culture and then decreased to $1.5\times10^4$CP at 48 hours. The $1.0\%$ (w/v) solution of purified A49-Pol represented pseudoplasticity with a viscosity of $2.7\times10^4$cP which was two times higher than xanthan at the same concentration. The viscosity of the A49-Pol solution was also greatly affected by its concentration in comparison with the xanthan solution. The viscosity of $1.0\%$ A49-Pol solution was 930-fold higher than its $0.2\%$ solution, whereas the corresponding viscosities of xanthan solution experienced only l7-fold difference. The viscosity was observed to be maximum at pH 7.0 in both A49-Pol and xanthan solutions, and gradually decreased as the pHs of the polysaccharide solutions went to acidic or alkaline regions. The viscosity of A49-Pol solution was very sensitive to temperature compared to xanthan and decreased with increasing temperature. The viscosity of $0.6\%$ solution of A49-Pol was 8,100 cP at $10^{\circ}C$ and 55 cP at $50^{\circ}C$. The viscosity was also affected by the presence of surfactants such as Span 20 and Triton X-l00 ; with $0.5\%$ Triton X-l00 (v/v), the viscosity of A49-Pol solution increased by $50\%$.

  • The investigation of effects on fouling propensity with various viscosity of feed solutions would be better understanding for forward osmosis (FO) performance since the fouling propensity was directly influenced with solution viscosity. Therefore, this study was focused on the FO fouling with model foultants (humic acid, alginate) by altering solution viscosity with change of ionic strength (I.S) and $Ca^{2+}$ concentrations. In the comparison between humic acid and alginate, as expected, the alginate generally caused more severe fouling (almost 35.8 % of flux reduction) based on the solution characteristics (high viscosity) and fouling patterns (coil and gel layer). However, interesting point to note is that the fouling propensity of alginate was more severe even though it was applied with low viscosity of feed conditions (I.S = 20 mM, $Ca^{2+}=1mM$). This might be due to that crossed linked gel layer of alginate on the FO membrane surface could be best formed in the condition of $Ca^{2+}$ presence and higher I.S, and that is more dominant to fouling propensity than the low viscosity of feed solutions.

  • The study investigated the effects of protein concentration, EGTA and strength of hydrostatic pressure on pH, viscosity and turbidity for ultra filtrated skim milk retentates. The results showed that hydrostatic pressure treatments up to 600 MPa did not affect the viscosity of skim milk, while the turbidity of skim milk increased at higher than 200 MPa. Addition of EGTA caused reduction in turbidity of skim milk, two times (2SR) and three times (3SR) concentrated skim milk retentates. Viscosity for 2SR and 3SR increased proportionally to the amount of EGTA, but viscosity of skim milk was not influenced by EGTA. High pressure treatment also did not cause any difference in viscosity and turbidity of skim milk. However, this treatment decreased viscosity and turbidity for 2SR and 3SR. In particular, 200 MPa treatment showed to induce a higher decrease in turbidity compared with 400 MPa.

  • High fluid concrete unlike OPC concrete is made with various material, and the phase of fresh concrete is considerably different. In order to understand fluidity phase and mix properties of high fluid concrete, concrete is required to access as suspension structure which consists of aggregate and paste. The focus of this paper is to analyze the test results and quantify the effect of mix proportions of molar and fineness modulus of ,and on the properties of fresh mortar. The effect of water-binder ratio, sand-binder ration, content; of ggbs (by mass of total cementitious materials), and various contents of water reducing agent on the yield stress and plastic viscosity of the mix is studied. Based on the experimental results, the following conclusion; can be drawn: (1) The mixing time needed (or high fluid mortar was approximately two times more than that of ordinary portland mortar. (2) The fluidity phase of mortar could be explained by yield stress of mix and the fluidity of mortar. (3) As the content of ggbs increased, yield stress of mortar was decreased and plastic viscosity of it was increased. (4) For the high fluid mortar, it was appeared that sand-binder ratio should be below 1.5.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the capacity of epoxy injection method using low pressure mixed with high pressure. Injection depth test and flexural strength test were respectively performed on $40{\times}45{\times}35$ cm and $100{\times}10{\times}40$ cm specimens. Considered as the test variables were injection type(low pressure, low and high pressure), crack width(0.25 mm, 0.50 mm), injection direction(upper, lower, side), and epoxy viscosity(low, medium, high). Test results showed that low viscosity epoxy injection depth of injector using low pressure mixed with high pressure for upper direction were 23 cm and tension strength of crack face repaired by injector using low pressure mixed with high pressure was larger than that of concrete.

  • The light guide plate has become the major component for the backlight module in general information technology products (e.g. mobile phones, monitors, etc.). High speed injection molding has been adopted for thin walled LGP giving advantages such as weight, shape, size, and reduction in production costs. In the current study, the rheological characteristics of high liquidity plastic resin PC(HL8000) were measured using a capillary rheometer to improve the reliability of the numerical analysis for high speed injection molding. With the measured viscosity and PVT of PC(HL8000), numerical analysis of injection molding was conducted using the simulation software(Moldflow). Filling time and deflection were predicted and compared with those of traditional PC resins(H3000, H4000). The results show that PC(HL8000) has significantly different rheological characteristics during high speed injection molding. Hence proper properties of the resin should be used to improve the accuracy of numerical predictions.
