A Study on Constant Current Boosted Squarewave Driving Electronic Ballasts for High Pressure Mercury Are Iamp (정전류 쵸핑을 이용한 구형파 구동형 고압 수은 방전등용 전자안정기 설계에 관한 연구)

  • There are many articles about the HID lamps about it's characteristics and simulation methods for lamp design or ballast design. For the electronic ballasts of HID lamps, There are some problems caused by acoustic-resonance which destabilizes the arc of HID lamps. So, some studies suggest the methods to avoid it. For example, the methods suggested are high frequence driving over 100[kHz], and mixed frequence driving which alternates high frequence and low frequence, and squarewave driving etc. This study suggests the electronic ballast of HID lamps that solves the problems of acoustic-resonance, and can control the luminance by constant current boostes chopper of which frequence is 30[kHz] and by the squarewave driving of which frequence is 55.5[Hz.] As follows, we have the good electronic ballast for HID lamps which has the characteristics of a light weight, and a function of luminance control and a high quality luminosity and which saves electrical energy.

  • This study proposes a new calculation method for generating real nighttime lamp-lit images. In order to improve the color appearance in the prediction of a nighttime lamp-lighted scene, the lamp-lit image is synthesized based on spectral distribution using the estimated local spectral distribution of the headlamps and the surface reflectance of every object. The principal component analysis method is introduced to estimate the surface color of an object, and the local spectral distribution of the headlamps is calculated based on the illuminance data and spectral distribution of the illuminating headlamps. HID and halogen lamps are utilized to create beam patterns and captured road scenes are used as background images to simulate actual headlamp-lit images on a monitor. As a result, the reproduced images presented a color appearance that was very close to a real nighttime road image illuminated by single and multiple headlamps.

  • Recently, the eletrodeless lamp is introduced as a new light source of a high efficacy and long life. Although eletrodeless lamp's size is large, most of them is applied to general luminaire for HID lamps. It causes to decrease eletrodeless lamp's efficacy. Therefore, refractor luminaires can be an option to maintain efficacy, so that reflector luminaires are developed for such lamps. The purpose of this study is to develope a optical numerical model of planar prism luminaire that is able to obtain various luminous intensity distributions.

  • The aim of this study is to make the technical standards for certificating a high efficiency metal-halide lamps and reflectors using the high intensity discharge lamps, to accomplish the practical energy saving effect. Metal-halide lamps are certificated by stabilzed and restarting time, lamp voltage, current, power and light output efficiency. The high illumination reflectors using HID lamps are certificated by testing reflective index, fading, the melting point, glare and install spacing factor.

  • In this study, a transition of power quality was characterized by non-linear voltage electric equipments under voltage sag. The test was inputted voltage sag to IPC(Sag Generator) from AVR, and then to equipments by IPC which adjust voltage magnitude and duration. The load test which non-linear voltage electric equipments used PLC, Magnetic Contactor, SMPS, HID Lamp. The test result was different from each other according to a manufacturing companys, models, and equipments. PLC was greatly described to be stabilized voltage sag in case of no load then rated load. Magnetic Contactor was made a difference to phase angles on voltage sag, which was $0^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$. HPD Lamp was described to be stabilized the sodium lamp, and to be unstabilized the metal hailed lamp. The test result was showed CBEMA curve that stand for evaluated responsiveness of voltage sag. This study was tested description to dynamic characteristics on non-linear voltage electric equipment under voltage sag. There was hoped that power system designed the essential particulars.

  • This paper proposes a new ballast that is ignited by internal LC resonance of buck converter. In order to cancel the steady state current ripple, the proposed ballast utilizes the coupled inductor filter which minimizes the size and weight of the ballast. The operation mode of the proposed ballast is analyzed and the performance of the new ballast is verified by the experimental results from a HOW prototype ballast for metal halide discharge (MHD) lamp.

  • HID램프의 한 종류인 세라믹 메탈할라이드 램프는 높은 광효율과 뛰어난 연색성으로 인해 가로등, 보안등이나 대형 산업체의 공장 내부 조명용 등 다앙한 분야에 폭넓게 사용되고 있다. 이렇게 사용범위가 확대됨에 따라 램프의 신뢰성 또한 중요한 요소로 여겨지게 됨으로 본 논문에서는 세라믹 메탈할라이드 램프의 열화특성 중 일부분인 흑화현상을 알아보기 위해 램프를 신뢰성기문 'RSC 0085'에 기초하여 5000시간의 열화 테스트 후 흑화현상 및 냉점부 온도변화를 분석하였고 이로 인한 광속저하를 확인하였다. 실험 후 플라즈마 대류에 의한 냉점 부 온도 변화의 차이로 인해 광속은 구형의 경우 약 9.3[%]가 감소한데 반해 원통형의 경우 29.4[%]의 감소를 확인하였다.

  • The metal halide lamps are now widely used in the application and commercial lighting due to their attracting properties such as good color rendering and high efficiency. But they have the serious problem of acoustic resonance for high frequency operation and they need the high voltage to ignite. So, they have not been applied to indoors. Over the past few years, a considerable number of studies have been conducted on the electronic ballast together with hot restarting and resonance phenomenon. But very few attempts have been made with the adaptive ignition method according to the lamp state. In this paper, electronic ballast is proposed for metal halide lamps with an igniter for adaptive ignition. The proposed electronic ballast can generate different ignition voltages according to the arc tube state.

  • A high ignition voltage is required for the metal halide (MHD) lamp. In this paper, the ballast ignited by internal LC resonance of buck converter with minimum size is proposed. For minimizing the ignition current for device safety, the characteristic impedance is maximized. But this results In a large steady state ripple, which may cause the accoustic resonance. The steady state ripple cancellation network using the coupled inductor is proposed.
