  • In order to develop a logical method for using selective fishing gear, the behaviour and habits of the aquatic animals must be investigated. However, until now, little national research has been carried out to investigate the behaviour and habits of the common octopus (Octopus minor). The purpose of this study henceforth, is to compile necessary behavioral data to develop fishing gear to catch the common octopus. Behaviour and habits of the common octopus were observed while breeding in a water tank from February to May, 2003. The feeding habits of common octopus are more vigorous at night than in the daytime. The common octopus feeds on 1-4 bait crabs per day and consume each crab in 40-50 min. The sensory organs of the common octopus are more influenced by the sense of touch and smell, than by vision. Using live bait is more effective and advantageous than using dead bait, as the common octopus responded more to live bait. The hiding habits of the common octopus were very intensive, as they hid around all the shelters that were provided in this study. They demonstrated territorial behavior and struggled to maintain their sphere of influence. In addition, out of the various colors for shelters and bait supplied, the common octopus preferred light colors.

  • Though infanticide, killing the baby after birth of the neonate and denial of pregnancy, are very rare psychiatric disorder, they have been receiving a lot of social concerns. We report and review infanticide and denial of pregnancy administration in a 19 year-old adolescent with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder. Patients with a young age, cognitive immaturity, an unwanted child, hid the pregnancy facts were consistent with the results of previous studies. In addition, the patient's impulsivity and emotional instability is affecting infanticide. After inpatient care with pharmacotherapy (escitalopram 20mg, alprazolam 1.5 mg, clonazepam 0.5 mg, valproate sodium 1,100-1,300 mg, and quetiapine 100-400 mg) and supportive psychotherapy, and there were significant improvement of clinical symptoms.

  • The forms of man's costumes in Byzantine Empire were changed according to each composition of costumes. Those forms of costumes had common features of each period when costumes were included. At the same time, however, the fact that differences existed in accordance with a social position including gender, class, occupation, etc. even though in same period were showed. Analytic elements of man's costumes in Byzantine Empire were selected by important factors. This showed the meanings of position and class in that time. The kinds of analytic elements in man's outwear were various but the forms of costumes were not developed because christianity influenced the forms of clothing in the Middle Ages. As the result of synthesis, the main factor of man's costumes was a tunic in Byzantine Empire of the Middle Ages The phases of the times were reflected on the structure of man's costumes in Byzantine Empire. In particular, religious feature was emphasized, and analytic elements of costumes having meanings showed the features of the society at the Middle Ages. For example, a central analytic element of man's costume, an outer garment was a tunic style of H-silhouette that hid the body line. This was influenced by the phases of the times. Namely, the costume stands as a symbol of the times, and also is a cultural sign that reflects phases like politics, economy, religion.

  • After an incandescent lamp developed as a first light source using electric energy in 1879, various lamps have been developed and promoted for usual convenience. Although lots of light sources have been developed for the past centry, among them some were used widely but some were hardly used contray to the initial expectations. Incandescent, fluorescent, HID and LED lamps which are normally used these days were treated as new type of light sources and very difficult to be popularized at the initial stage. In spite of the initial difficulties, these light sources and luminaries are still so popular because all of them were improved to be used easily by reflecting human's mental and physiological state. Like this when new light sources and luminaries are developed, a careful consideration, if these are proper for the surroundings or not, must be preceded. This study finally derived development factors of PLS developed in domestic to be played an important role in future light by analyzing product trends, social and lighting development changes.

  • This article studied women's headdresses that appeared in the paintings of Joseon Dynasty. This examined the shapes of women's headdresses painted in genre paintings, record paintings and nectar ritual paintings from Joseon Dynasty and compared them to literatures and relics in order to analyze their types and characteristics. Headdress can be categorized into three types: (1) square cloth worn on the top of the head; (2) a kind of small cap; (3) Cloth that completely covers the head. The first type of headdress resembles the shape of Garima. In the early period of Joseon Dynasty, it was worn not only by Gisaeng, but also by both upper and lower class women. The second type of headdress includes a cap made by connecting several cloths, round cap, and cone-shaped cap. These two types are worn on top of the head. However, sometimes these were worn between the head and the chignon to fix the chignon. Also, these were used as hair accessories for decorative purposes. In particular, old women wore these headdresses and braided their white hair around them to fix the chignon. This way, the headdress not only kept the head warm, but also hid the old women's scanty hair. Headdress was usually made of black fabric and it was a simple hair accessory that replaced the wig. The third type of headdress was widely worn among lower class women. The cloth completely covered the head so that the hair would not fall when working. It also provided protection from cold and hot weather. According to paintings, there were many ways of wearing the cloth around the head.

  • This paper describes a countermeasure of electric utilities and customer equipment in order to minimize an effect of sensitive electrical and electronic equipment on the voltage disturbances. After being studied, some schemes to solve were discovered. Firstly, in the electric utilities, the reduction of frequency and influence of voltage drop's time are not easy to realize because of the standpoint of effect and economy. Secondly, in the customer equipment, there are some equipment to minimize the voltage disturbances, Such as an UPSs, a noise suppressors and a power conditioners. One of them should be established on the computer control and automated systems, the electromagnetic switch of delay-release type should be adopted on the electromagnetic switch, the controlling circuit should be adopted on the variable speed motors which is being considered a countermeasure for a momentary under-voltage drops, the luminaire adhering a instantaneous restrike device should be adopted on the HID lamp. And also, the scheme of extending a setting time of relay on the undervoltage relay and the forming method of sequence which is automatic reclosing at this time of instantaneous suspension of an electric supply have been studied.

  • Architectural drawing has been changing from the general notion, in which it is to predict what it may be like for purely practical purpose. Particularly amongst the Deconstructivists' work, graphic elements make a great contribution to the realization of their self expressive style. Whereas these are often chosen for solely aesthetic reasons, there are some cases in which the act of drawing itself is a crucial, investigative process. This is true of Daniel Libeskind's architectural drawing. For him, Typography seems to be characteristic of his drawing. He Harness typographic elements as metaphors for hid abstract symbolism through his architectural drawings, which retain the possibility to relate to the more radical typographic approaches. Within this context, this thesis will argue how the typographic elements in Daniel Libeskind's architectural drawings can be interpreted. What interconnection can be made between the two practices\ulcorner How can these elements be incorporated into architecture\ulcorner Can they be involved in it as a main constituent\ulcorner This thesis explores diverse possibilities of interpretation of his architectural drawing through typological approaches to the cases where type itself meets the different media and signific ation is given to the other typographic elements.

  • Background: Cancer is a disease which affects not only patients but also their families physically and emotionally. The purpose of this study was to determine the needs, challenges and ways of coping of caregivers of cancer patients. Materials and Methods: In the study, a phenomenological approach was used. Data were collected through semi-structured individual interviews. The study sample comprised 16 family members providing care for a cancer patient. Results: The study findings are grouped under four main themes: the impact of caregiving, masking feelings, experienced challenges and expectations, and coping. During the caregiving process, patient relatives are affected physiologically, psychologically and socially. It was determined that patient relatives hid their feelings and avoided talking about the disease for fear that they might upset the patient, and that they had difficulty in coping with the patient's reactions during the treatment process. Family members had difficulties arising from the health system, hospital conditions and treatment in addition to transportation and financial problems. Support is very important in coping, but it was determined that some of the relatives of patients did not receive adequate support. Patient relatives expect that health care professionals should provide them with more information about their patient's condition and the course of the disease that their patients should be dealt with by the physicians specialized in cancer, and that psychological support should be provided both for them and for their patient. Conclusions: During the caregiving process, family members are faced with many difficulties and they exhibit different coping behaviors which health care professionals should take into account.
