Silica Glass Preparation by the Sol-Gel Process and the Temperature Dependence on Changes of Apparent Activation Evergies (졸-겔법에 의한 실리카 유리의 제조와 온도 의존성 및 활성화에너지 변화)

  • In this study we investigated the gelation time of sol which containing mixtures of TEOS with H2O, ethanol, HCl in the preparation of monolithic silica glass through Sol-Gel method. In this case apparent activation energies were observed by Arrhenius equation. We investigated the conversion from gel to glass in drying and heat treatment stages using DT-TG, FT-IR, XRD analysis and dried gel conversed to glass by heat treatment up to 85$0^{\circ}C$. The results of this experiment showed that the gelation time of solutions were promoted when increasing the amount of addition of H2O and HCl catalyst for TEOS and high reaction temperature of solution.

  • (S)-5-iodo-2-aminoindan.HCI (7) was synthesized for developing a serotonergic agent. (S)- Phenylalanine was protected with trifuoroacetyl group and compound 2 was prepared by direct iodination in acetic acid and in the presence of I$_2$, KIO$_4$, and sulfuric acid. Compound 3 was cyclized by Friedel-Crafts reaction and reduced with NaBH$_4$ to form 5-iodo-2-(N-trifluoroacetyl)aminoindan-1-ol (4) . This compound was reduced to indan derivative 5 using the triethylsilane and BF$_3$ . Et$_2$O. It was basified with $K_2$CO$_3$ solution and treated with saturated HCl in ethyl ether to isolate compound 7.

  • Phosphosilicate glass(PSG) films have been used as fusable deposited dielectrics in silicon gate MOS integrated circuits. But in this experiment BPSG(borophosphosilicate glass) will be optimized for more efficient utilization of the reactants. The BPSG films were deposited on silicon wafers by the oxidation of the hydrides at 430$^{\circ}$C in conventional atmospheric-pressure chemical-vapor-deposition (CVD) systems. Physical and chemical properties of CVD BPSG films have been characterized both for as-deposited and for fused films The. relationship between deposited BPSG film composition and infra-red absorption solution etch rate and fusion temperature is discussed and examples of BPSG composition that can be fused at 900~95$0^{\circ}C$ and 800~85$0^{\circ}C$ are given. In addition to having lower fusion temperature than PSG films BPSG films have lower as-deposited intrinsic tensile stress and low aqueous chemical etch rate they have been considered for applications where these characteristics are advantageous.

  • Solvent extraction reaction of cobalt by Alamine336 from strong hydrochloric acid solution was identified by analyzing the solvent extraction data reported in the literature. Analysis of the data by graphical method revealed that Alamine336 took part in the solvent extraction reaction as a monomer in the concentration ranges, [Co(II)] : 0.0169 - 0.102 M, [Alamine336] ; 0.02- 1.75 M, and [HCl ] : 5 - 10 M. The following solvent extraction reaction and equilibrium constant was obtained from the experimental data by considering the activity coefficients of chemical species present in the aqueous phase. $Co^{2+}+2Cl^{-}+R_3NHCl_{org}=CoCl_3\;R_3NH_{org}$, $K_{ex}=2.21$ The distribution coefficients of cobalt predicted in this study agreed well with those reported in the literature.

  • To manufacture MG-Si (Metallurgical grade silicon) for use in various industries, Acid leaching experiments were performed to remove aluminum (Al) and iron (Fe), which are the most common impurities found in the silicon raw material. The silicon raw material was reacted with five types of acids (HCl, HF, H2SO4, HNO3, H3PO4) at 1, 2, 4, and 6M; 1M HF showed the highest Al and Fe removal rates, 97.9% and 95.2%, respectively. HF, however, resulted in an 18% reduced yield due to the silicon corrosion properties. To minimize the yield reduction, 2M HCl, which has a second removal ratio result, was mixed with 1M HF and applied to the silicon raw material. The experiment was conducted to select the optimal conditions for the mixed solution, which were $80^{\circ}C$ and 2hr. Under the optimal conditions, the residual Al and Fe concentrations were 141 ppmw and 93 ppmw, respectively, and it very easy to produce MG-Si with 3N grade purity.

  • Destructive methods are used for the turnup determination of an irradiated PWR fuel. One of the methods includes U, Pu, Nd-148 and Nd-(145+146) determination by an isotope dilution mass spectrometry using triple spikes (U-233, Pu-242 and Nd-150). The method involves two sequential ion exchange resin separation procedures. Pu is eluted from the first anion exchange resin column (Dowex AG 1$\times$8) with 12 M HCl-0.1 M HI mixed solution, followed by U elution with 0.1 M HCl. Nd is isolated from other fission products on the second anion exchange resin column (Dowex AG 1$\times$4) with a nitric acid-methanol eluent. Each fraction is analysed by thermal ionization mass spectrometry. The difference between Nd-148 and Nd-(145+146) method is found with an average 2.07%. The results are compared with those by the heavy element method using U and Pu isotopes and by the destructive y-spectrometric measurement of Cs-137. The dependences of isotope composition of U and Pu on burn-up, and correlation between those isotopes are illustrated graphically.

DETERMINATION OF THE APPARENT ILEAL DIGESTIBILITY OF PROTEIN AND AMINO ACIDS IN FEEDSTUFFS AND MIXED DIETS FOR GROWIG-FINSHING PIGS WITH THE MOBILE NYLON BAG TECHNIQUE

  • A series of experiments was conducted to determine the influence of various pepsin-HCL pretreatment factor, hereby the factors of duration of washing for the retrieved bags, inherent to the mobile nylon bag technique (MNBT), on apparent ileal digestibility of crude protein (AIDCP) and apparent ileal digestibility of dry matter (AIDDM). At last, the AIDCP and apparent ileal digestibility of amino acids (AIDAA) in maize, barley, wheat, rapeseed meal, cottonseed meal and three mixed diets were determined with the MNBT and ileo-rectal anastomis pigs (IRAT). For the MNBT techniques, bag measuring $25{\times}40$ MM and containing 0.75 g feedstuff samples, after pre-digestion in vitro, were introduced into the ileo-rectal anastomis pigs (IRAT) gastrointestinal tract through a duodenal cannula and recovered in the ileal digesta between 6 and 12 h. later. 1. The apparent ileal digestibility of dry matter (AIDDM) and crude protein (AIDCP) of the tested samples, with the exception of fish meal, determined by MNBT were not affected by the different pepsin-HCL pretreatment times in vitro between 2.5 h. and 4 h. 2. There was no significant (p > 0.05) difference of the AIDCP and AIDDM of maize determined by the MNBT among different pepsin concentration (0.03%, 0.07% and 0.1 %) treatment in vitro. 3. The AIDCP determined with the MNBT was affected by the washed and unwashed recovered bags from the ileal digesta. 4. The AIDCP and AID amino acids (AIDAA) of maize, barley, wheat, rapeseed meal, soya-bean meal, cottonseed meal and three mixed diets from the MNBT, with a solution of 0.01N HCL (PH 2) and 0.1% of pepsin concentration, a pepsin-HCL pretreatment time in vitro or 4h. and a washing time of the recovered bag from the ileal digesta compared well with those from the IRAT. The linear regression analysis showed a significant correlation (p < 0.01) of AIDCP and AIDDA between the IRAT and MNBT.

A Studies of Uranium Isotopes Determination in Environmental Samples Using TBP Extraction (TBP 용매추출법을 이용한 토양시료중 우라늄 동위원소 분석법 개선에 대한 연구)

  • Using the TBP slovent extraction method, a simple and precise method for determining uranium isotopes in the environment samples was developed. The soil sample was decomposed with $HNO_3$ and HF. Uranium isotopes were extracted with 15% TBP in $CCl_4$ from aqueous phase to organic phase, and Th fraction was removed with 8M HCl. Uranium fraction was purified in back extraction step with 1M HCl. Optimized electrode position conditions of uranium Isotopes were set using a new electrode position solution including a DTPA chelating agent. The new method of uranium isotopes determination was validated with a result of application to IAEA Reference Soils.

The Micromorphometric change of the GBA and RBM implant surface conditioned with tetracycline-HCI (염산테트라싸이클린 적용시간에 따른 GBA 및 RBM 임프란트 표면변화)

  • The present study was performed to evaluate the effect of tetracycline-HCl on the change of implant surface microstructure according to application time. Implant with pure titanium machined surface, GBA surface and RBM surface were utilized. Implant surface was rubbed with 50mg/ml tetracycline-HCl solution for ${\frac{1}{2}}$min. 1min. $1{\frac{1}{2}}$min. 2min. and $2{\frac{1}{2}}$min. respectively in the test group. Then, specimens were processed for scanning electron microscopic observation. The results of this study were as follow. 1. Both test and control group showed a few shallow grooves and ridges in pure titanium machined surface implants. There were not significant differences between two group. 2. In GBA surfaces, control group exhibit many porous depression, and each depression were divided by strict border. Experimental group applied with tetracycline-HCl for 2min. were similar with control group. But when applied for $2{\frac{1}{2}}$min. surface alteration and border breakdown started, resulting enlargement of the porous depression. 3. In REM surface, control group exhibit rough, uneven surface with crater-like depression can be found. The surface alteration started when tetracycline-HCl was applied for 30sec. resulting breakdown of the crater-like depression. Depression became larger as applying time increased.

Micromorphometric change of implant surface conditioned with Tetracycline-HCl : HA and Etched surface (염산테트라싸이클린의 적용시간에 따른 특수 가공된 임프란트 표면 변화)

Implant surface was rubbed with $50mg/m{\ell}$ tetracycline-HCL solution for ${\frac{1}{2}}$min., 1min., $1{\frac{1}{2}}$min., 2min., and $2{\frac{1}{2}}$min. respectively in the test group. Then, specimens were processed for scanning electron microscopic observation. The results of this study were as follows. 1. Both test and control group showed a few shallow grooves and ridges in pure titanium machined surface implants. There were not significant differences between two groups. 2. In HA-coated surfaces, round particles were deposited irregularly. The roughness of surfaces conditioned with tetracycline-HCL was lessened and the cracks were increased relative to the application time. 3. The etched surfaces showed the honey comb structures. The surface conditioning with tetracycline-HCI didn't influence on its micro-morphology. In conclusion, the detoxification with $50mg/m{\ell}$ tetracycline-HCI must be applied respectively with different time according to various implant surfaces.
