Development of Evaluation Criteria For Game-style Courseware Based on HCI (HCI 이론을 적용한 게임형 학습 프로그램 평가 준거 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develope a criterion for evaluation on game-style courseware by the application of HCI theory. The HCI theory, which deals with principles or methods for developing systems people can use conveniently and pleasantly, has been applied to overall area of program development. And it also has been widely used to evaluate learning programs. However, there have been few studies on a game-style courseware evaluation on the basis of the HCI theory. Thus, it is necessary to apply the HCI theory to studies on the game-style courseware evaluation. This paper shows that evaluation criteria are developed on three viewpoint bases : usefulness, usability, and affect which are as elements in HCI. The evaluation criteria developed in this paper can be applied to a basis for evaluation on game-style coursewares.

  • Recently, liquid chromatography (LC) has been used more frequently to separate drugs and natural substances. Especially, to selection of the solutes from the products, the operation condition of analytical chromatography should be necessarily determined. So accurate computer modeling and simulation of chromatographic performances has become a necessary part of the development and design of processes. High-Purity Separation Lab. Inha University developed the resulting HCI software for the purpose of the optimization of chromatographic performances. The HCI program was utilized to find the optimum operating condition more accurately and rapidly, reducing the number of many possible experiments. The elution profiles were calculated by the plate theory based on the three retention mechanism of capacity factor.

And to analyze game-type learning programs for elementary students on the criterion developed in this study. The HCI theory, which deals with principles or methods for developing systems people can use conveniently and pleasantly, has been applied to overall area of program development. And it also has been widely used to evaluate learning programs. However, there have been few studies on a game-type learning program evaluation on the basis of the HCI theory. This paper shows that evaluation criteria are developed on three viewpoint bases : usefulness, usability, and affect which are as elements in HCI. And analyzes the game-type learning programs from these three points of view. The evaluation criteria developed in this study can be applied to a basis for evaluation on game-type learning programs, and the analysis will be able to be a useful guide to game programers as well as its users.

Constructing relationships in a hierarchical file system

  • We propose a scheme for more efficient navigation in a hierarchical file system. In the proposed scheme, a program running in the background computes the degree of relationship between a current file and others, and builds a list of the most related files. The current relationship metric being used by the program is a linear combination of five parameters: the name, the directory path, the type, the created time, and the last accessed time of a file. A simulated annealing algorithm is used in order to determine the weighting factors of the parameters. A set of experiments were conducted in order to access the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

  • To separate mixtures analytically and preparatively by LC (Liquid Chormatography), the operating conditions of analytical chromatography should be determined. The HCI program was utilized to find the optimum operating condition accurately and rapidly, and to reduce the number of experiments. In an analytical chromatography, based on the resolution and analysis time, the experimental conditons of deoxyribonucleosides and phopholipids were fixed in terms of taxol was calculated, and the collection time was predicted for the mixture of 5'-IMP and 5'-GMP from the elution profile when and purity wer known.

  • Digital talking books have been developed to enhance reading experiences for reading-disabled people. In the existing digital talking books, however, it is difficult to read special contents such as math expressions, images, etc. In this paper, we define reading rules for Contents MathML. Based on this rules, we implemented a program for reading the mathematical contents of Contents MathML, using XSLT. We conducted a confirm test to prove the accuracy of the program, and an usability test to measure understanding of reading text of math expressions.

  • 대용량의 네트워크 인프라가 확대되고, 네트워크를 통한 DV, HD 급의 고화질 비디오 전송이 보편화 되면서, 고화질의 비디오에 몰입감, 현실감을 증진시키기 위한 스테레오 HD 비디오 전송이 가능하게 되었다. 본 논문은 IP 네트워크를 통해서 스테레오 HD 비디오 전송을 가능하게 해주는 소프트웨어 기반의 HD 비디오 전송 시스템에서 효과적으로 몰입감과 입체감을 제공하기 위해 충족되어야 하는 좌우 영상의 동기화에 필요한 요소들을 다룬다. 제안된 동기화 기법은 수신 측에서 최종적으로 동기화된 좌우 영상을 통해 스테레오 HD 비디오를 얻기 위해서 좌우 카메라로부터 영상의 획득 시, 획득된 영상의 네트워크 전송 시, 또 수신된 영상의 재생 시 좌우 영상의 동기화한다. 결과적으로 동기화 된 좌우 영상을 통하여 몰입감과 현실감을 가지는 스트레오 HD 비디오를 실시간으로 감상할 수 있다.

Optimum Condition of Mobile Phase Composition for Purine Compounds by HCI Program (HCI프로그램을 이용한 퓨린 유도체의 이동상 조성의 최적화 조건)

  • The optimum mobile phase condition for analysis of the six purine derivatives (caffeine, guanine, hypoxanthine, purine, theobromine, and theophylline) were determined by a HCI program. Reversed-phase HPLC system was used with the binary mobile phase, water and methanol. Three retention models (Snyder, Langmuir, and Binary polynomial) were considered to predict the retention factors. The elution profiles were calculated by the plate theory based on the binary polynomial retention model. From the final calculated results, the binary polynomial retention model showed the best agreements between the calculated and experimental data. In the isocratic mode, the optimum mobile phase composition of water/methanol is 93/7(v/v). However, we used step-gradient mode to decrease the run-time ($1^{st}$ mobile phase : water/methanol = 93/7 (v/v), gradient time : 5 min, $2^{nd}$ mobile phase : water/methanol = 75/25 (v/v)). The experimental and simulated profiles of above the two conditions show a good agreement.

Identification of Critical Factors Affecting on the Text Messaging Performance of Mobile Devices (문자입력 작업의 수행도에 영향을 미치는 모바일 기기의 핵심 설계요인 분석)

  • 문자메시지를 작성하는 작업 특성과 사용자의 특성간의 상호작용의 결과로, 휴대전화 사용자 집단간 통화량과 문자메시지 사용량은 다르게 나타난다. 본 연구에서는 문장 입력시간을 기준으로 청년층과 중장년층 집단 간의 운지 속도를 비교하여 노화로 인한 운지 속도의 차이를 고려한 지적활동의 시간 차이를 알아보고자 하였다. 그리고 한글 문자 입력 과제의 수행을 반복하여 청년층과 중장년층의 입력 속도 변화를 비교하였다. 즉, 사용자가 충분한 연습을 거치면 연령층에 관계없이 문장 입력 시간이 비슷해질 수 있는지를 실험을 통해 확인하였다. 휴대전화의 문자 입력 시스템에 익숙하지 않은 청년층과 중장년층 각각 8명을 선발하였으며, 50ms단위로 입력시간을 측정하였다. 실험결과, 두 집단의 연습 이후의 성취한 문장입력 수행도는 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다 (P=0.039). 이러한 결과는 노화로 인한 인지적 기능의 저하가 문자 입력의 속도를 저해하는 주요 요인임을 보여준다.

  • 최근 사용자에 대한 많은 정보를 얻는 것이 가능해지면서, 데이터마이닝 기법이나 Contents 추천 기법을 이용한 맞춤형 서비스가 가능하게 되었다. 특히, 대부분의 사람들에게 TV 프로그램 시청은 여가생활시간에서 가장 높은 비중을 차지 하고 있다. 따라서, 보다 지능적인 TV 프로그램 서비스를 제공하는 기술에 대하여 관심이 고조되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 TV-Anytime을 이용하여 개인화된 Electronic Program Guide (EPG)를 생성하고, 개인화된 EPG 정보를 활용하여 시청자에게 맞춤형 TV 프로그램 서비스를 제공하는 시스템에 대한 연구 결과를 제시한다. 또한 시청자의 시청패턴과 TV 프로그램 선호도를 바탕으로 시청자가 원하는 프로그램을 추천하는 TV Program Recommender Agent와 방송 및 TV 프로그램에 대한 대화를 담당하는 TV Program Helper Agent, 시스템 조정 및 메시지 전달을 담당하는 Coordinator Agent로 이루어진 멀티에이전트 기반 시스템 구조를 제시한다.
