  • This paper deals with the relative efficiency of two kernel estimators $\hat{f}_n$ and $\hat{g}_n$ by using spherical data, as proposed by Park (2012), and Bai et al. (1988), respectively. For this, we suggest the computing flows for the relative efficiency on the 2-dimensional unit sphere. An evaluation procedure between two estimators (given the same kernels) is also illustrated through the observed data on normals to the orbital planes of long-period comets.

  • To estimate the mean and the variance of a lognormal distribution, Finney (1941) derived the uniformly minimun variance unbiased estimators(UMVUE) in the form of infinite series. However, the conditions ${\sigma}^{2}\;>\;n\;and\;{\sigma}^{2}\;<\;\frac{n}{4}$ for computing $E(\hat{\theta}_{AM})\;and\;E(\hat{\eta}^{2}_{AM})$ are necessary. In this paper, we give an alternative derivation of the UMVUE's.

  • Let (X, Y) be a pair random variables and let f denote the regression function of the response Y on the measurement variable X. Let K(f) denote a derivative of f. The least squares method is used to obtain a tensor spline estimator $\hat{f}$ of f based on a random sample of size n from the distribution of (X, Y). Under some mild conditions, it is shown that $K(\hat{f})$ achieves the optimal rate of convergence for the estimation of K(f) in $L_2$ and $L_{\infty}$ norms.

  • This paper investigates the effect of individual observations in regression models with MA(1) errors through the 'hat matrix' It shows that the first observation has the largest hat matrix diagonal component for $\theta$<0 in the regression model with an intercept. This provides additional evidence for retaining the first observation in performing estimation in this setting. When the regression model goes to the origin and the independent variable has a deterministic trend, the last observation has the greatest leverage for │$\theta$│<1 and may have potentially large impact on parameter estimation.

  • In this paper, we propose a compact antenna hat to perform RF compatibility testing efficiently between the launch vehicle and ground stations. The proposed structure implements a small size and low loss using the conductive shield instead of the conventional RF absorber. The S-band antenna hat, which is fabricated for an inverted-F onboard antenna with the size of $74mm{\times}13mm{\times}16mm$, has the small enclosure of $88mm{\times}35mm{\times}44mm$, the return loss of 25.6 dB, the insertion loss of 0.26 dB, and the leakage loss of 49.4 dB at the center frequency of 2.25 GHz. The simulated and measured results show a good agreement.

  • Tsutsugamushi fever occupies more than 80% of total fall epidemic diseases and has an incubation period of 1 or 2 weeks as well. We have assumed that the incubation period distribution is gamma and therefore, reach an agreement that the infected distribution is normal with ${\hat{\mu}}=309.92$, ${\hat{\sigma}}=14.154$ by back calculation method. The infection cases are found severely large around the month of October. The infection case distribution demonstrates the incidence number increasing rapidly and progresses fast during the month of November. In this study, we have calculated the future prevalence number of maximum 1,200 people by inferred infection probability and incubation period distribution with some sort of limitation that the trend of increasing incidence number is not taking into an account. We considered the SIRS model which is also known as epidemic model, familiar to interaction between epidemiological classes. Our estimated parameters converged well with the initial parameter values.

  • In this paper, we propose a model that performs more natural facial attribute editing by utilizing mask information in the hair and hat region. STGAN, one of state-of-the-art research of facial attribute editing, has shown results of naturally editing multiple facial attributes. However, editing hair-related attributes can produce unnatural results. The key idea of the proposed method is to additionally utilize information on the face regions that was lacking in the existing model. To do this, we apply three ideas. First, hair information is supplemented by adding hair ratio attributes through masks. Second, unnecessary changes in the image are suppressed by adding cycle consistency loss. Third, a hat segmentation network is added to prevent hat region distortion. Through qualitative evaluation, the effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated and analyzed. The method proposed in the experimental results generated hair and face regions more naturally and successfully prevented the distortion of the hat region.

  • The present work was designed to study the yield loss on rice at different appearance days of hopperburn caused by the brown planthopper(BPH), Nilaparvata lugens Stal, when rice plants were infested with BPH on booting and heading stages. Dead plants were colleted from 23 days after heading stage with intervals of 5 days. Yield losses by the initation of BPH infestation was greater at tooting than at heading stage. Compared to the uninfested plot, there was a reduction in 1,000 grain weight and filled grain percentage at both stages. Positive relationship was observed between rice yield(Y) and the number of days from heading to the appearance of the hopper-burn. Regression equations calculated were; for BPH feeding from booting $\hat{Y}(g)=10.145X-16.374(r=0.9726^{**})$, and for BPH feeding from heading $\hat{Y}(g)=9.792X+26.936(r=0.8850^{**})$.
