A Study on the Energy Saving through the Tilting Technology of Rolling Stock (틸팅기술 접목을 통한 철도차량 에너지 저감 연구)

  • In this study, By the time that TTX technology is adopted as railway rolling stock, we analyzed quantitatively energy saving by reducing the power consumption with the reduction of the operation time through the speed improvement and suggested the necessity to introduce TTX technology in the domestic rail vehicles. The effect of energy saving by comparing and analyzing the power consumption during the operation by TTX Hanvit 200 and 8200 electric locomotives to pull trains on the same line was suggested and the efficiency of the main devices(i.e C/I) of Hanvit 200 was compared and analyzed by measuring the power consumption by a single unit. For improving KORAIL management environment, reducing energy usage is an urgent challenge, its measures for solving them are constantly considered in many areas. In addition, at the time of improving the conventional track to speed up and changing the signals, Tilting technology will be contributed to the management environment by enlarging the passengers' demand through the reduction of the operation time and saving energy using the existing infrastructure.

  • Train brake system is generally composed of an electronic brake and an air brake device, which has a crucial role for safety of the train. In this paper, a dynamic model for a tilting train, Hanvit-200 (TTX) has been derived for the purpose of developing a HILS system for the air brake device and anti-skid logic. Moreover, simulation studies has been conducted using Simulink software for skid situations. Simulation results demonstrate the validity of the proposed dynamic model.

  • Traction and braking of trains are due to the rolling contact of the wheel on the rail, and the rolling contact is fundamental to an understanding of the behavior of the railroad system. The way in which the forces are transmitted in the rolling contact is complex and highly nonlinear. This paper describes a rolling contact theory, a creepage model between wheel and rail, and a dynamic model of the tilting train Hanvit-200. The validity of the model is verified through simulation study using Simulink.

  • To maintain the safety and efficiency of railroad vehicles, it is important to understand the working of the brake system with anti-skid control unit (ASCU) for rolling stocks. In this paper, a HILS (Hardware In-the Loop Simulations) system with ASCU hardware (for logic) and a DSP board (for dynamics) is developed to analyze skidding of the Hanvit-200 train during the process of braking. Experimental results are presented for the case that the skid on one of the four wheels is artificially generated using a Simulink model. A convenient GUI is prepared using ControlDesk of dSPACE.

The Service Voltage Measurement and Analysis while TTX Runs (틸팅열차 운행 중 가선전압 계측 및 분석연구)

  • Recently, the Korea Tilting Express(TTX), "HANVIT 200", KRRI(Korea Railroad Research Institute) developed runs for test on the conventional railroad, Honam line, Center line, Chunk-buk line and Tae-baek line. In this paper, we measured the service voltage while TTX ran on the conventional railroad and analyzed the condition of voltage. For measuring voltage directly, we installed PT under the pantograph and measured the voltage of the primary winding. In addition, we record situations that other trains pass by TTX and environments while TTX ran. And then we analyzed the condition of voltage using the records and CBEMA curve. In result, over 110[%] voltage of rated voltage(25[kV]) often occurred and the voltage of some place continued over 110[%] for about 200[s]. Especially, the voltage condition of Tae-baek line is the worst. The results in this paper can help to stabilize the power device and power converter of TTX.

  • A trial run of locally-developed tilting train has been in process on Chungbuk line since the test vehicle was first produced. For the system stabilization, interface verification among the systems including track, structure, catenary and signaling system, not to mention the rolling stock, is very crucial. Therefore, in this study, the dynamic rail force of the tilting (Hanvit 200), high-speed (KTX) and general (Mugunghwa) vehicle caused by driving in transition curve track was measured. And, it compared the tilting response with the other by using the measured wheel load data in transition curve track, and then evaluated probability the range of wheel load fluctuation for the variable dynamic vertical and lateral wheel load. As a result, a range of wheel load by occured a change of cant from the high-speed and general vehicle which had fixed bogie structure was distributed throughout small deviation (${\Delta}8{\sim}13kN$). Otherwise, in case of the tilting train which was consisted of the pendulum bogie structure was distributed wide range about large deviation (${\Delta}25{\sim}28kN$) by changed of cant.

Failure Behavior of FRP RC Beams without Shear Reinforcements (전단 보강이 없는 FRP RC보의 파괴 거동)

  • In order to substitute FRP bar for steel bar in new structures, it is necessary to establish a reliable design code. But relatively little research has been conducted on the material in Korea. So, a total of 22 beam specimens (18 GFRP reinforced concrete and 4 conventional steel reinforced concrete) were constructed and tested. In the first phase of the experiment, it was carried out to observe flexural behavior, and collect deflection and crack data. In order to eliminate of the uncertainty by the shear reinforcements and induce flexural failure mode, any stirrup were not used and only shear span-depth ratio were adjusted. However, almost beams were broken by shear and the ACI 440.1R, CSA S806, which were used to design test beams, showed considerable deviation between prediction and test results of shear strengths. Therefore in the second phase of the study, shear failure modes and behavior were observed. A standard specimen had dimensions of 3,300 mm long ${\times}$ 800 mm wide ${\times}$ 200 mm effective depth. Clear span and shear span were 2,800 mm, 1,200 mm respectively. Control shear span-depth ratio was 6.0. Four-point bending test over simple support was conducted. Variables of the specimens were concrete compressive strength, type and elastic modulus of reinforcement, shear span-depth ratio, effective reinforcement ratio, the effect of bundle placing method and cover thickness.

  • In recent years, we have been working on the improvement project of mercury 3-lecture type at the Geummundo lighthouse for more than 100 years. We have installed toxic mercury removal, LED light source, and dualization system for nonstop. It can be seen as an example. Circular restoration of the entire frame is performed, and the real-time status can be grasped through the installation of the double-ball bearing and the remote control system. After installation, optical measurement through Hanvit secured the optical performance of 2,000,000 cd of floating brightness of 300cd, proving the efficient possibility of introducing the domestic rotary type light source using LED light source.
