화강암질풍화토(花崗岩質風化土)의 역학적(力學的) 성질(性質)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) -전단강도(剪斷强度)의 영향요소(影響要素)와 견밀도(堅密度)에 대(對)하여- (Studies on the Mechanical Properties of Weathered Granitic Soil -On the Elements of Shear Strength and Hardness-)

  • 화강암질풍화토(花崗岩質風化土)의 미교란(未攪亂) 시료(試料)를 사용하여 일면(一面) 직접(直接) 전단시험(剪斷試驗)으로 측정(測定)한 전단강도(剪斷强度)와 함수비(含水比), 간극비(間隙比), 건조밀도(乾燥密度), 비중(比重)과의 관계(關係)를 통계(統計) 분석(分析)하였고, 화강암질풍화토(花崗岩質風化土)의 사방시공지(砂防施工地)에 식재(植栽)된 리기다소나무림(林)과 리기테-다소나무림(林)에서 토양단면(土壤斷面)을 만들어 산중식토양경도계(山中式土壤硬度計)로 토양(土壤)의 견밀도(堅密度)를 측정(測定)하고 수근분포(樹根分布)를 조사(調査)하여 통계(統計) 분석(分析)한 결과(結果) 다음과 같다. 1) 함수비(含水比), 간극비(間隙比)와 전단강도(剪斷强度) 간(間)에는 유의적(有意的)인 부(負)의 상관(相關)이며 직접적(直接的)인 관계(關係)에 있었다. 2) 건조밀도(乾燥密度)와 전단강도(剪斷强度) 사이에는 정(正)의 상관(相關)이며 직접적(直接的)인 관계(關係)에 있었다. 3) 비중(比重)과 전단강도(剪斷强度) 간(間)에는 유의적(有意的)인 상관관계(相關關係)를 인정(認定)할 수 없었다. 4) 전단강도(剪斷强度)에 영향(影響)을 미치는 영향요소(影響要素)의 직접효과(直接效果)의 크기는 함수비(含水比)>간극비(間隙比)>건조밀도(乾燥密度)의 순위(順位)이다. 5) 다중선형(多重線型) 회귀방정식(回歸方程式)의 분산분석결과(分散分析結果) 함수비(含水比)만이 회귀성(回歸性)이 인정(認定)되므로 함수비(含水比)를 독립변수(獨立變數)로 하여 전단강도(剪斷强度)를 추정(推定)하기 위한 회귀방정식(回歸方程式)은 제한(制限)된 건조밀도(乾燥密度)의 범위내(範圍內)에서 적합도(適合度)가 매우 높게 평가(評價)되었다. 6) 토양(土壤)의 견밀도(堅密度)는 토심(土深)이 깊어짐에 따라 높아진다. 7) 토양(土壤)의 지표경도(指標硬度)와 수근수(樹根數) 간(間)에는 유의적(有意的)인 부(負)의 상관(相關)이며 직접적(直接的)인 관계(關係)에 있었다. 8) 리기다소나무와 리기테-다소나무의 수근(樹根)은 토심(土深) 20cm까지에 대부분 분포(分布)하고 있었다. 9) 리기다소나무림(林)과 리기테-다소나무림(林)에서 측정(測定)한 토양(土壤)의 지표경도(指標硬度)를 독립변수(獨立變數)로한 회귀방정식(回歸方程式)으로 수근수(樹根數)를 추정(推定)할 수 있었으나 낮은 적합도(適合度)를 나타내었다.

수열법으로 성장한 ZnO Nanorod/ZnO/Si(100)의 특성 (Characteristics of ZnO Nanorod/ZnO/Si(100) Grown by Hydrothermal Method)

  • Nanostructures of ZnO, such as nanowires, nanorods, nanorings, and nanobelts have been actively studied and applied in electronic or optical devices owing to the increased surface to volume ratio and quantum confinement that they provide. ZnO seed layer (about 40 nm thick) was deposited on Si(100) substrate by RF magnetron sputtering with power of 60 W for 5 min. ZnO nanorods were grown on ZnO seed layer/Si(100) substrate at $95^{\circ}C$ for 5 hr by hydrothermal method with concentrations of $Zn(NO_3)_2{\cdot}6H_2O$ [ZNH] and $(CH_2)_6N_4$ [HMT] precursors ranging from 0.02M to 0.1M. We observed the microstructure, crystal structure, and photoluminescence of the nanorods. The ZnO nanorods grew with hexahedron shape to the c-axis at (002), and increased their diameter and length with the increase of precursor concentration. In 0.06 M and 0.08 M precursors, the mean aspect ratio values of ZnO nanorods were 6.8 and 6.5; also, ZnO nanorods had good crystal quality. Near band edge emission (NBE) and a deep level emission (DLE) were observed in all ZnO nanorod samples. The highest peak of NBE and the lower DLE appeared in 0.06 M precursor; however, the highest peak of DLE and the lower peak of NBE appeared in the 0.02 M precursor. It is possible to explain these phenomena as results of the better crystal quality and homogeneous shape of the nanorods in the precursor solution of 0.06 M, and as resulting from the bed crystal quality and the formation of Zn vacancies in the nanorods due to the lack of $Zn^{++}$ in the 0.02 M precursor.

게껍질 첨가배지가 큰느타리(Pleurotus eryngii)의 균사생장과 자실체에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Addition of Crab Shell to Sawdust Substrate on the Growth and Development of Pleurotus eryngii)

  • 큰느타리(P. eryngii)는 최근에 생산과 소비가 증가되고 있는데 이에 소요되는 재배용 톱밥배지 제조시 수산부산물인 게껍질의 첨가효과를 구명하기 위하여 시험을 수행한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 게껍질 첨가수준별 균사생장특성은 1, 2, 4% 처리구는 배양완성일수가 $22{\sim}23$ 일로 대조구인 톱밥 + 미강(80 : 20) 배지와 비슷하였으나 6% 처리구는 28일, 8% 처리구는 34일로 첨가량이 증가할수록 균사생장이 지연되었다. 자실체 수량은 게껍질 1% 첨가시 생체중 91 g로 대조구 68 g에 비해 34%가 많았다. 자실체의 CaO 함량은 4% 첨가구가 0.05%로 무첨가구의 0.01%에 비하여 5배정도 많았다. 큰느타리 배지재료로 게껍질을 이용한 결과 수량 및 자실체의 CaO 함량 증가효과가 있었으며 유용한 배지재료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

축산폐수(畜産廢水) 살수여상충전(撒水濾床充塡) 볏짚 시용이 토양화학성과 오처드그래스(Dactylis glomerata L.)의 생육에 미치는 영향(影響) (Application of the Trickling Rice Straw Filter Medium for Livestock Wastewater Enhanced Soil Chemical Properties and the Growth of Orchard Grass (Dactylis glomerata L.))

  • 중소규모(中小規模) 축산농가(畜産農家)에서 배출(排出)되는 돼지(돈(豚)) 분뇨폐수(糞尿廢水)를 효과적(效果的)으로 처리(處理)함과 동시(同時)에 재활용(再活用)할 수 있는 방법(方法)의 하나로 볏짚을 살수여상법(撒水濾床法)의 충전재(充塡材)로 이용(利用)하였다. 폐수처리(廢水處理) 후(後) 볏짚을 건조(乾燥) 분쇄(粉碎)하여 토양(土壤)에 첨가(添加)한 후 orchard grass를 재배(栽培)하여 다음과 같은 결과(結果)를 얻었다. 1. 볏짚 충전재(充塡材)를 시용(施用)했을 경우(境遇) 일반적(一般的)인 농가퇴비(農家堆肥)에 못지 않은 수량(收量) 향상(向上) 효과(效果)가 있었다. 기본시비(基本施肥)(NPK)에 처리(處理)한 짚 40 ton/ha의 비율(比率)로 혼합(混合) 시용 했을 때 가장 효과(效果)가 컸다. 2. Orchard grass 1차 예취(刈取) 후의 수량은 기본시비(基本施肥) 전량 시용구가 반량(半量) 시용구보다 많았다. 3. Orchard grass 1차, 2차 예취(刈取) 후(後) 볏짚충진제 처리구 토양(土壤)의 화학적 특성은, 공시토양에 비해 pH 의 증가와 함께 Av. $P_2O_5$, Ex. K, Ca, Na, Mg 와 유기물함량(有機物含量)이 증가(增加)했는데 특(特)히 Exc. Mg 의 현저한 증가(增加)가 있었다. 4. 볏짚 충진제를 시용한 결과 Orchard grass에 의해 흡수된 질소, 인산, 양이온등의 영양소는 증가되었고, 증가량은 처리량에 비례했다.

칼슘 결핍에 의한 '신고' 배 (Pyrus pyrifolia cv. Niitaka) 과실에서의 바람들이 (Calcium Deficiency Causes Pithiness in Japanese Pear (Pyrus pyrifolia cv. Niitaka) Fruit)

  • BACKGROUND: Pithy pear fruit are not distinguished externally from sound fruit and thus often cause unexpected economic losses. To find out the cause of pithiness, the pithiness incidence and characteristics of Japanese pear (Pyrus pyrifolia cv. Niitaka) fruit picked from a spot frequently produced pithy fruit in an orchard were compared with those of fruit picked from another spot produced sound fruit every year. And the soil chemical properties of the two spots and mineral contents in fruit, shoots, and leaves of Japanese pear trees cultivated in the two spots were also examined. METHODS AND RESULTS: The pithiness incidence was 0, 8.8, and 11.3% at 7 days before and 0 and 7 days after optimal harvest date, respectively, in the spot frequently produced pithy fruit. Flesh firmness was significantly lower in pithy fruit than in sound fruit, while soluble solids content was slightly higher in pithy fruit than in sound fruit. Unlike other mineral contents, Ca content was significantly lower in pithy fruit than in sound fruit. These results indicate that Ca deficiency in fruit is closely associated with decrease in flesh firmness and thus pithiness development. Ca content in soil of the spot frequently produced pithy fruit was also significantly lower than that in soil of the spot produced sound fruit. However, shoots or leaves did not exhibit significant difference in Ca and/or other mineral contents between the two spots, indicating that Ca deficiency in fruit is dependent on the translocation of Ca within a plant rather than soil Ca status. Although total-N, available $P_2O_5$, K, and Ca contents were significantly lower in soil of the spot frequently produced pithy fruit than in soil of the spot produced sound fruit, Mg and Na contents and pH were not different between the soil conditions. CONCLUSION(S): Fruit maturity and Ca level in fruit are closely related to the incidence of pithiness in 'Niitaka' Japanese pear.

The Additivity of True or Apparent Phosphorus Digestibility Values in Some Feed Ingredients for Growing Pigs

  • Two experiments were conducted to determine the additivity of apparent or true digestibility of phosphorus (P) in soybean meal (SBM), peas, faba beans, corn, oats, broken rice meal, rough rice meal, buckwheat, and sorghum for growing pigs. Chromic oxide (0.3%) was used as a digestion marker in both experiments. Each experiment lasted for 12 d, which consisted of a 7-d dietary adaptation period followed by a 5-d fecal collection period. Experiment 1 involved 6 diets: the SBM-based control diet; 4 diets with corn, oats, rough rice meal and broken rice meal substituted for SBM; and an additional diet with a representative mixture of the 5 ingredients. In Experiment 2, 6 diets were prepared similarly, except that the tested ingredients besides SBM were faba beans, peas, buckwheat, and sorghum. In each experiment, six barrows with an initial average individual BW of 20.5 kg were fed one of the six diets according to a $6{\times}6$ Latin square design. The apparent and true P digestibility values for the nine tested ingredients were determined by the substitution method. There were no differences (p>0.05) between the determined and the predicted true P digestibility values for the mixture of ingredients in Experiments 1 and 2. However, the determined and the predicted apparent P digestibility values for the mixture of ingredients differed (p = 0.059) in Experiment 1, but not in Experiment 2. These results indicate that true P digestibility values are additive in ingredients containing low levels of phytate phosphorus and anti-nutritional factors, whereas the apparent P digestibility values are not always additive in single feed ingredients for growing pigs.

막걸리(탁주)의 쥐 혈장 과산화물 생성 억제효과 (Inhibition Effect against the Rat Blood Plasma Oxidation of the $Makgeolli$ ($Takju$) Korean Rice Wine)

  • 막걸리 추출물과 타종의 주류들을 대상으로 항산화 활성을 비교하였다. 동일 용량(70 ${\mu}L$ eq)을 기준으로 하였을 때, $ABTS^+$ radical-scavenging 활성은 위스키 > 막걸리 조추출물 > 정종 ${\simeq}$ 막걸리 청징액 > 소주 순이었다. 그러나 동일 알콜 함량(6%)을 기준으로 했을 때에는 막걸리 조추출물 > 위스키 > 정종 ${\fallingdotseq}$ 막걸리 청징액 > 소주 순이었다. 이어 쥐 혈장의 cholesteryl ester hydroperoxide (CE-OOH) 생성 억제능을 평가하였다. 주류의 동일 용량을 기준으로 하였을 때, CE-OOH 생성 억제능은 소주 > 위스키 > 정종 > 막걸리 조추출물 > 막걸리 청징액 순이었다. 한편 동일 알콜 함량을 기준으로 했을 때에는 정종 > 막걸리 조추출물 > 소주 > 위스키 > 막걸리 청징액 순이었다. 그리고 막걸리 조추출물의 용매분획물들[동일 용량 (70 ${\mu}L$ eq) 기준]을 대상으로 CE-OOH 생성 억제능을 평가한 결과, $H_2O$${\fallingdotseq}$ BuOH층 > EtOAc층 > n-hexane 순이었다.

뇌해마의 장기양 조직배양을 이용한 한약물의 뇌신경세포손상 보호효능 연구 (Neuroprotective Effects of Medicinal Herbs in Organotypic Hippocampal Slice Cultures)

  • Objectives : For the screening of neuroprotective effects of medicinal herbs, the complex system of animal models suffer some disadvantages in controlling critical parameters such as blood pressure and body temperature. Additionally, application of drugs to the appropriate brain area sometimes is difficult, due to poor permeability though the blood brain barrier, and so potential protective effects might be masked. Methods : Organotypic hippocampal slice culture (OHSC) method has the advantages of being relatively easy to prepare and of maintaining the general structure, including tissue integrity and the connections between cells. Drugs can easily be applied and neuronal damage can easily be quantified by using tissues and culture media. This study demonstrates neuroprotective effects of Puerariae radix (葛根, PR), Salviae miltiorrhizae radix (丹蔘, SR), Rhei rhizoma (大黃, RR), and Bupleuri radix (柴胡, BR). These were screenedand compared to MK-801, antagonist of NMDA receptors, by using OHSC of 1 week-old Sprague-Dawley rats. Oxygen/glucose deprivation (OGD) were conducted in an anaerobic chamber $(85%\;N_2,\;10%\;CO_2\;and\;5%\;H_2)$ in a deoxygenated glucose-free medium for 60 minutes. Water extracts of each herbs were treated to culture media with $5\;{\mu}g/ml$ for 48 hours. Results : Neuronal cell death in the cultures was monitored by densitometric measurements of the cellular uptake of propidium iodide (PI). PI fluorescence images were obtained at 48 hours after the OGD and medicinal herb treatment. Also TUNEL-positive cells in the CAI and DG regions and LDH concentrations in culture media were measured at 48 hours after the OGD. According to measured data, MK-801, PR, SR and BR demonstrated significant neuroprotective effect against excessive neuronal cell death and apoptosis induced by the OGD insult. Especially, PR revealed similar neuroprotective effect to MK-801 and RR demonstrated weak neuroprotective effect. Conclusions : These results suggest that OHSC can be a suitable method for screening of neuroprotective effects of medicinal herbs. Dosimetric Validation of the Acuros XB Advanced Dose Calculation Algorithm for Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy Plans

  • Acuros XB advanced dose calculation algorithm (AXB, Varian Medical Systems, Palo Alto, CA) has been released recently and provided the advantages of speed and accuracy for dose calculation. For clinical use, it is important to investigate the dosimetric performance of AXB compared to the calculation algorithm of the previous version, Anisotropic Analytical Algorithm (AAA, Varian Medical Systems, Palo Alto, CA). Ten volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) plans for each of the following cases were included: head and neck (H&N), prostate, spine, and lung. The spine and lung cases were treated with stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) technique. For all cases, the dose distributions were calculated using AAA and two dose reporting modes in AXB (dose-to-water, $AXB_w$, and dose-to-medium, $AXB_m$) with same plan parameters. For dosimetric evaluation, the dose-volumetric parameters were calculated for each planning target volume (PTV) and interested normal organs. The differences between AAA and AXB were statistically calculated with paired t-test. As a general trend, $AXB_w$ and $AXB_m$ showed dose underestimation as compared with AAA, which did not exceed within -3.5% and -4.5%, respectively. The maximum dose of PTV calculated by $AXB_w$ and $AXB_m$ was tended to be overestimated with the relative dose difference ranged from 1.6% to 4.6% for all cases. The absolute mean values of the relative dose differences were $1.1{\pm}1.2%$ and $2.0{\pm}1.2%$ when comparing between AAA and $AXB_w$, and AAA and $AXB_m$, respectively. For almost dose-volumetric parameters of PTV, the relative dose differences are statistically significant while there are no statistical significance for normal tissues. Both $AXB_w$ and $AXB_m$ was tended to underestimate dose for PTV and normal tissues compared to AAA. For analyzing two dose reporting modes in AXB, the dose distribution calculated by $AXB_w$ was similar to those of AAA when comparing the dose distributions between AAA and $AXB_m$.

테프(Eragrostis tef) 분말을 첨가한 파운드케이크의 품질 특성 및 노화 억제 분석 (Study on the Quality Characteristics and Retarding Retrogradation of Pound Cakes containing Teff (Eragrostis tef) Flour)

  • This study investigated the effects of teff flour on the properties of pound cakes. Five types of pound cakes were made by addition of 0% (Control), 5% (TF5), 10% (TF10), 15% (TF15), and 20% (TF20) of teff flour based on wheat flour. Specific gravity of pound cake batter showed no significant differences among samples as 0.54 (p<0.05). Baking loss was the highest in the control at 5.92% and the lowest in TF20 at 5.27%. Batter yield was the highest in TF20 at 94.73% and the lowest in control at 94.08%. Moisture content was the highest in TF20 at 23.68% and the lowest in control at 21.32%. pH showed no significant differences among samples at 7.61~7.65 (p<0.05). a-values of crumb significantly increased while L-values and b-values significantly decreased with added teff flour amounts. (p<0.05). ${\Delta}E$ values significantly increased with teff flour at 34.32~49.24 (p<0.05). Hardness was lowest in TF20 at $180.60g/cm^2$. Springiness was the lowest in TF20 at 85.37%. Cohesiveness showed no significant differences among samples (p<0.05). Chewiness was the lowest in TF20 at 172.17 g. Hardness more rapidly increased in control at $273.13{\sim}26,123.33g/cm^2$ than that of pound cakes with teff flour. Avrami exponent (n) was the highest in the control at 3.5987 and the lowest in TF20 at 1.2144. In sensory evaluation, flavor of TF20 was higher than that of the control at 4.43. Overall acceptability had a higher score in TF20 than in the control. It is considered that addition of 20% teff flour can improve the quality characteristics and retard retrogradation of pound cake.
