Velocity oscillations in the Chromosphere above a Solar Quiet Region

  • We investigate velocity oscillations in a solar quiet region by using the spectral data of the $H{\alpha}$ and Ca II $8542{\AA}$ lines. The data were acquired by the Fast Imaging Solar Spectrograph installed at the 1.6 m Goode Solar Telescope of Big Bear Solar Observatory. According to Chae & Litvinenko (2018)'s theoretical work, there is a correlation between dominant period of the oscillations and the temperature of the temperature minimum region in a non-isothermal atmosphere. In our study, we measure the temporal variations of the intensity and the line of sight Doppler velocity, and find out the relations between the intensity and dominant period of the oscillations. In addition, we investigate oscillations in a few distinct regions and discuss regional characteristics of the oscillations.

고체상 추출제로서 Polyvinyl Chloride에 D2EHPA를 고정화한 PVC-D2EHPA의 제조와 Cu(II) 제거 특성 (Preparation of PVC-D2EHPA beads by Immobilization of D2EHPA on Polyvinyl Chloride as Solid Phase Extractant and Removal Characteristics of Cu(II))

  • The solid phase extractant (PVC-D2EHPA bead) was prepared by immobilizing di-2-ethylhexyl-phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) with polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The prepared PVC-D2EHPA beads were characterized by using fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The removal experiments of Cu(II) by PVC-D2EHPA beads conducted batchwise. The removal kinetics of Cu(II) was found to follow the pseudo-second-order model. The equilibrium data fitted well with Langmuir isotherm model and the maximum removal capacity was 2.6 mg/g at $20^{\circ}C$. The optimum pH region was in the range of 3.5 to 6. and the standard free energy (${\Delta}G^{\circ}$) was between -4.67~-4.98 kJ/mol, indicating the spontaneous nature of Cu(II) removal by PVC-D2EHPA beads.

  • PAH 계 화합물들의 Bay region diol epoxide 들의 target tissue에 대한 결합은 암유발과 관련 되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 ICR mice의 간에서의 BP-DNA-adduct 생성에 미치는 poly acetylene 화합물인 panaxynol 과 panaxydol 의 효과를 조사하였 다. Panaxynol 과 panaxydol 을 전처리한 ICR mice 의 간 마이크로좀을 포함하는 incubation system 은 calf thymus DNA 에 대한 BP binding을 뚜렷이 감소시켰다. [$^3H$]-BP($300\mu$Ci/21nmoles/0.1ml DMSO. i. v. ) 즐 mice 에 주사 후 24시간 후에 간 DNA 에서의 방사능을 측정하였다. HPLC 에 의해 cochromatography 한 두개의 standard marker (acetophenone. bytyrophenone)을 사이에 나타나는 DNA adduct 들을 잠정적으로 확인한 결과 (-) BP-7.8-diol로부터 생성되는 major adduct 인 (+) BP-diol epoxide I: dGuo adduct (peak II)는 대조군보다 약 22% 감소된 반면에 minor adduct 인 (-) BP-diol epoxide I: dGuo adduct (peak III)는 대조군의 69%로 감소되었다. 그리고 (+) BP-7, 8-diol로부 터 생성되는 minor adduct 인 BP-diol epoxide I II : Guo adduct (peak IV)는 대조군의 58%로 감소되었다. 이러한 결과는 panaxydol이 ($\pm$) B BP-7,8-diol로부터 일반적으로 생성되는 adduct들 중 major보다는 minor adduct들의 생성에 더 많이 관석했음을 보여준다.

A Novel Al-Bridged Trinuclear Iron(II) Bis(imino)pyridyl Complex with Catalytic Ethylene Polymerization Behavior

  • A self-assembled Al-bridged diiminopyridine-based ligand (3) was synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, ESI-MS and NMR spectroscopy. Electron spectral titrations were performed to confirm the formation of a novel trinuclear bis(imino)pyridyl iron(II) complex (4) upon addition of $FeCl_2$ into Al-bridged ligand 3 in methanol solution. Simultaneously, a typical bis(imino)pyridine-iron(II) complex (2) was synthesized and fully characterized. The X-ray crystal study of the iron(II) complex 2 disclosed a five-coordinate, distorted square-pyramidal structure with the tridentate N^N^N ligand and chlorides. The optimal molecular structure of 4 was obtained by means of molecular mechanics, which showed that each iron atom in the complex 4 is surrounded by two chlorides, a tridentate N^N^N ligand and one oxygen atom, supporting considerations about the possibility of six-coordinate geometry from MMAO or the ethylene access. A comparison of 4 with the reference 2 revealed a remarkable decrease of the catalytic activity and MMAO consumption (activity up to $0.41{\times}10^3\;kg\;{mol_{Fe}}^{-1}h^{-1}bar^{-1}$, Al/Fe = 650 for 4 and $7.02{\times}10^3\;kg\;{mol_{Fe}}^{-1}h^{-1}bar^{-1}$, Al/Fe = 1600 for 2).

1.64 ${\mu}m$ features of Jets and Outflows from Young Stellar Objects in the Carina Nebula

  • We present [Fe II] 1.64 ${\mu}m$ imaging observations for jets and outflows from young stellar objects over the northern part (${\sim}24^{\prime}{\times}45^{\prime}$) of the Carina Nebula, a massive star forming region. The observations were performed with IRIS2 of Anglo-Australian Telescope and the seeing was ~1.5". Eleven jets and outflows features are detected at eight different regions, and are termed as Ionized Fe Objects (IFOs). The [Fe II] features have knotty or elongated shapes, and the detection rate of IFOs against previously identified YSOs is 1.4%. Four IFOs show anti-correlated peak intensities in [Fe II] and $H{\alpha}$, where the ratio I([Fe II])/I($H{\alpha}$) is higher for longish IFOs than for knotty IFOs. We estimate the outflow mass loss rate from the [Fe II] flux using two different methods. The jet-driving objects are identified for three IFOs (IFO-2, -4, and -7). The ratios of the outflow mass loss rate over the disk accretion rate for IFO-4 and -7 are consistent with the previously reported values ($10^{-2}-10^{+1}$), while the ratio is higher for IFO-2. This excess may result from underestimating the disk accretion rate. Other YSO physical parameters show reasonable relations or trends.

FISS Observation of Bright Rims of Solar Filaments

  • Rims of solar filaments often appear brighter than the background chromosphere, but their physical nature is still poorly known. Last year, we observed a filament with a bright rim. The rim was bright in H alpha but not in Ca II 8542 line. Using the cloud model, we inferred physical parameters of the region from the spectral profiles. As a result, we found that the Doppler width of the H alpha line is very large, which implies temperature as high as 50000K. In addition, the value of the source function of the H alpha line is 0.7 times the continuum intensity of background profile. These results suggest that the bright rims might be a region of intense heating, probably associated with a current sheet. To further investigate this possibility, we carried out more observations this summer. We will present new results obtained from the analysis of these observations and discuss the physical implication of these measurements on the nature of bright rims and the filaments.

DENSE MOLECULAR CLOUDS IN THE GALACTIC CENTER REGION II. H13CN (J=1-0) DATA AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE CLOUDS

  • We present results of a $H^{13}CN$ J=1-0 mapping survey of molecular clouds toward the Galactic Center (GC) region of $-1.6^{\circ}{\le}{\iota}{\le}2^{\circ}$ and $-0.23^{\circ}{\le}b{\le}0.30^{\circ}$ with 2' grid resolution. The $H^{13}CN$ emissions show similar distribution and velocity structures to those of the $H^{12}CN$ emissions, but are found to better trace the feature saturated with $H^{12}CN$ (1-0). The bright components among multi-components of $H^{12}CN$ line profiles usually appear in the $H^{13}CN$ line while most of the dynamically forbidden, weak $H^{12}CN$ components are seldom detected in the $H^{13}CN$ line. We also present results of other complementary observations in $^{12}CO$ (J=1-0) and $^{13}CO$ (J=1-0) lines to estimate physical quantities of the GC clouds, such as fractional abundance of HCN isotopes and mass of the GC cloud complexes. We confirm that the GC has very rich chemistry. The overall fractional abundance of $H^{12}CN$ and $H^{13}CN$ relative to $H_2$ in the GC region is found to be significantly higher than those of any other regions, such as star forming region and dark cloud. Especially cloud complexes nearer to the GC tend to have various higher abundance of HCN. Total mass of the HCN molecular clouds within $[{\iota}]{\le}6^{\circ}$ is estimated to be ${\~}2 {\times}10^7\;M_{\bigodot}$ using the abundances of HCN isotopes, which is fairly consistent with previous other estimates. Masses of four main complexes in the GC range from a few $10^5$ to ${\~}10^7\;M_{\bigodot}$ All the HCN spectra with multi-components for the four main cloud complexes were investigated to compare the line widths of the complexes. The largest mode (45 km $s^{-1}$) of the FWHM distributions among the complexes is in the Clump 2. The value of the mode tends to be smaller at the farther complexes from the GC.

레이저 기반 형광 영상 시스템의 Signal to Background Ratio 향상 연구 (Study on Improvement of Signal to Background Ratio of Laser-based Fluorescence Imaging System)

  • 최근 고령화 사회가 진행이 되면서 건강과 진단에 대한 많은 관심이 증대되고 있다. 정확한 진단이 가능한 guided surgery를 위한 다양한 바이오 이미징 시스템 분야가 중요하게 대두되면서 정확한 측정과 실시간 확인 등이 가능한 형광 이미징 시스템이 중요한 분야로 대두되었다. 현재 사용되고 있는 부분은 NIR-I이 주를 이루고 있으나 분해능의 향상 및 깊고 정확하게 형광을 확인하기 위해서 NIR-II 부분의 연구를 많이 진행 중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 NIR-I과 NIR-II의 차이점과 광학적인 특성, 그리고 형광영상 시스템의 SBR(signal to background ration)에 대해서 NIR-II의 미(Mie) 산란을 유한요소(FEM)법을 이용하여 확인을 하였으며 최종적으로 Skin phantom을 제작 및 Fluorescence를 측정을 함으로써 SBR이 NIR-I보다 NIR-II 영역에서 16.2배 더 높은 것을 확인하였다. 형광 이미징 시스템의 SBR 증대는 NIR-I영역대 보다 NIR-II영역이 효과를 이룰 것으로 확인이 되며 이를 통해 guided surgery나 bio-sensor, 또한 형광을 이용한 전자부품의 결함을 확인할 수 있는 디바이스 등의 다양한 응용분야에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 예상한다.

건습환경중 순 Mg박막의 EIS부식 모니터링 특성 관찰 (Properties Investigation of Corrosion Monitoring for Pure Mg Thin Films under Wet-Dry Cyclic Conditions by Using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy Method)

  • Magnesium thin films were prepared on cold-rolled steel substrates by RF(Radio Frequency) magnetron sputtering technique.$^{1)}$ The crystal orientation and monitoring of the deposited films were investigated by using XRD(X-ray Diffraction) and EIS(Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy), respectively. The corrosion rates of Mg thin films deposited with different argon gas pressure and substrate bias voltage were monitored by AC impedance method under a cyclic wet-dry condition, which was conducted by exposure to alternate conditions of 1h immersion in 3%NaCl solution and 5h drying at 60% RH and 25$^{\circ}C$. The result of corrosion rate of Mg thin films deposited at various Ar gas pressures and substrate bias voltage under wet-dry cyclic exposure in chloride-containing solutions was showed the following conclusions. At the region I during the onset of the wet cycle, corrosion rate showed relatively low value. The increase in the Corrosion rate of region II is due to the increase in the chloride concentration. Corrosion rate of region III during the onset of the cycle zero and salt crystals remain on the metal surface.$^{2)}$

TRIzol을 이용한 노로바이러스 RNA 추출의 pH 의존성 (pH-Dependence of RNA Extraction for Norovirus by TRIzol Method)

  • 노로바이러스는 전 세계적으로 산발적인 발병 관련 비세균성 위장염의 주요 원인 물질이다. 노로바이러스 검출을 위해 역전사 실시간 PCR (RT qPCR)이 그 민감도와 특이성으로 인해 주요 수단으로 빠르게 자리 잡았다. 그러나 RT qPCR 분석을 위해서는 정확한 바이러스 RNA 추출방법이 필수적이다. TRIzol 시약은 생물학적 물질로부터 RNA의 추출에 이용되고 따라서 노로바이러스 RNA 추출에도 널리 사용된다. 이 연구에서는 인체 노로바이러스 유전체 그룹 I (GI) 및 유전자 그룹 II (GII)와 생쥐 노로바이러스(GV) 중에서 GII로부터의 TRIzol 을 이용한 바이러스 RNA의 추출률이 바이러스 시료 용액의 pH에 의존했다는 내용이 다루어졌다. 실시간 PCR의 Ct값으로 비교한 RNA 추출 수율은 산성 영역보다 알칼리성 pH에서 높았다. 이 연구 결과로 부터 TRIzol을 이용하여 GII RNA를 추출하여 노로바이러스를 정량적으로 분석할 때 pH조건이 대단히 중요하다는 것을 알 수 있었다.
