  • This paper presents an intelligent autopilot for STT missiles with multiple controllers. The mixed H$_{2}$/H$_{\infty}$ control technique is applied for each controller and implemented by using the genetic searching algorithm. To facilitate automatic switching of multiple controllers under different operating conditions, an error based switching scheme is also combined with the multiple controllers at the higher level, which constitutes a hierarchical intelligent control system. It is shown via computer simulation that the proposed autopilot outperforms the conventional one..

  • This paper related with the performance evaluation of H-MMA (Hybrid-MMA) which is applying the adaptive modulus and adaptive step size concept to MMA adaptive equalization algorithm in order to reduce the intersymbol interference that is occurred in communication channel for digital code transmission. In the conventional MMA adaptive equalizer, the coefficient is updated by using the equalizer output and possible to compensation of amplitude and phase in 2nd dimensional QAM signal, the equalization performance were degraded due to fixed modulus and step size. For the overcomming the abovemensioned problem, it is possible to improving the equalization performance in the 2nd dimensional QAM signal by applying the adaptive modulus and adaptive step size propotional to equalizer output signal to the conventional MMA algorithm. The computer simulation was performed in the same channel for the compare the performance of MMA and proposed H-MMA which is proposed in this paper. As a result of simulation, the proposed H-MMA has slower convergence time in order to arriving the steady state than MMA. But after the steady state, H-MMA has more superior to the MMA in every performance index and the equalization noise was reduced.

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm that creates three-dimensional (3D) stereoscopic video from two-dimensional (2D) video encoded by H.264 instead of using two cameras conventionally. Very accurate motion vectors are available in H.264 bit streams because of the availability of a variety of block sizes. 2D/3D conversion algorithm proposed in this paper can create left and right images by using extracted motion information. Image type of a given image is first determined from the extracted motion information and each image type gives a different conversion algorithm. The cut detection has also been performed in order to prevent overlapping of two totally different scenes for left and right images. We show an improved performance of the proposed algorithm through experimental results.

  • Variable step size LMS(VS-LMS) algorithms improve performance of LMS algorithm by means of varying the step size. This paper presents a new VS-LMS algorithm using normalized absolute estimation error. Normalizing the estimation error to the expected valus of the desired signal, we determined the step size using the relative size of estimation error, Because parameters and computational load are less, our algorithm is easy to implement in hardware. The performance of the proposed algorithm is analyzed theoretically and estimated through simulations. Based on the theoretical analysis and computer simulations, the proposed algorithm is shown to be effective compared to conventional VS-LMS algorithms.

  • A mixed $H_{2}$ / H.inf. design methodology is suggested for a single-input-single-output system. Suboptimal $H_{2 }$ controllers stabilizing the closed loop system under the additive uncertainty are obtained. An extended Nevanlinna-Pick algorithm is used to obtain the suboptimal. controllers.s.

  • The efficiency of implementation of the arithmetic operations in finite fields depends on the choice representation of elements of the field. It seems that from this point of view normal bases are the most appropriate, since raising to the power 2 in $GF(2^n)$ of characteristic 2 is reduced in these bases to a cyclic shift of the coordinates. We, in this paper, introduce our algorithm to transform fastly the conventional bases to normal bases and present the result of H/W implementation using the algorithm. We also propose our algorithm to calculate the multiplication and inverse of elements with respect to normal bases in $GF(2^n)$ and present the programs and the results of H/W implementations using the algorithm.

  • Many real world control systems usually track several control objectives, simultaneously. At the moment, it is desirable to meet all specified goals using the controllers with simple structures like as proportional-integral (PI) and proportional-integral-derivative (PID) which are very useful in industry applications. Since in practice, these controllers are commonly tuned based on classical or trial-and-error approaches, they are incapable of obtaining good dynamical performance to capture all design objectives and specifications. This paper addresses a new method to bridge the gap between the power of optimal multiobjective control and PI/PID industrial controls. First the PI/PID control problem is reduced to a static output feedback control synthesis through the mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ control technique, and then the control parameters are easily carried out using an iterative linear matrix inequalities (ILMI) algorithm. Numerical examples on load-frequency control (LFC) and power system stabilizer (PSS) designs are given to illustrate the proposed methodology. The results are compared with genetic algorithm (GA) based multiobjective control and LMI based full order mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ control designs.

  • One of the most important things in mobile phone service is Hand-Off (H/O). Meantime soft H/O and softer H/O have been used between the same generations (2G↔2G) and there is little problem. With user's needs and the development of communication technology, the system with different generation coexists and pilot beacon and time-periodic beacon are used for H/O between generations (2.5G↔2G) to start service, but it is not economic and efficient. To improve such problems, ENHHO developed in April 2001 has recently used. Unfortunately, this method also has the defect of momentary cutoff of communication information during the procedure of H/O in case of more than 5 pilot signals. Accordingly, we suggest algorithm to improve the problem of ENHHO and examines its propriety by analyzing the results of field survey using the algorithm.

  • Estimating algorithm of physical activity energy expenditure was implemented by using a tri-axial accelerometer motion detector of the SVM(Signal Vector Magnitude) of 3-axis(x, y, z). A total of 33 participants(15 males and 18 females) that performed walking and running on treadmill at 2 ~ 11 km/h speeds(each stage increase 1km/h). Algorithm for energy expenditure of physical activities were implemented with $VO_2$ consumption and SVM correlation between the data. Algorithm consists of three kinds and hip, wrist, waist and hip can be used to apply.

  • In the sample survey for a highly skewed population, stratum jumpers often occur. Stratum jumpers are units having large discrepancies between a stratification variable and a study variable. We propose two models for stratum jumpers: a multiplicative model and a random replacement model. We also consider the modification of the L-H stratification algorithm such that we apply the previous models to L-H algorithm in determination of the sample sizes and the stratum boundaries. We evaluate the performances of the new stratification algorithms using real data. The result shows that L-H algorithm for the random replacement model outperforms other algorithms since the estimator has the least coefficient of variation.
