  • Robust control of a GFR composite beam with a distributed PVDF sensor and piezo-ceramic actuator is presented En this paper. Modal analysis method and modal coordinates are introduced to obtain the state educations of the structural system. 1st and 2nd natural frequencies are considered In the modeling, because robust control theory which is robustness to structured uncertainty is adopted to suppress the vibration. If the controllers designed by H$\^$$\infty$/ theory do not satisfy control performance, it is improved by ${\mu}$-synthesis method with D-K Iteration so that the ${\mu}$-controller based on the structured singular value satisfies the nominal performance and robust performance.

  • This paper presents a vibration-rejection control design for a magnetic suspension system which has strong non-linearity, open-loop unstable characteristics, high-order flexible modes, and parameter variations. The target plant to be controlled consists of a U-core electromagnet and a flexible rail. We describe the test rig and formulate the mathematical model and then we set up a control problem as the mixed sensitivity problem where the augmented plant is constructed with frequency weighting functions and the feedback controller is designed by using the H$\infty$ controller. The effectiveness of the designed controller for the magnetic suspension system with high-order flexible modes is validated and justified using several simulations. LEHMER'S GENERALIZED EULER NUMBERS IN HYPERGEOMETRIC FUNCTIONS

  • In 1935, D. H. Lehmer introduced and investigated generalized Euler numbers $W_n$, defined by $${\frac{3}{e^t+e^{wt}e^{w^2t}}}={\sum\limits_{n=0}^{\infty}}W_n{\frac{t^n}{n!}}$$, where ${\omega}$ is a complex root of $x^2+x+1=0$. In 1875, Glaisher gave several interesting determinant expressions of numbers, including Bernoulli and Euler numbers. These concepts can be generalized to the hypergeometric Bernoulli and Euler numbers by several authors, including Ohno and the second author. In this paper, we study more general numbers in terms of determinants, which involve Bernoulli, Euler and Lehmer's generalized Euler numbers. The motivations and backgrounds of the definition are in an operator related to Graph theory. We also give several expressions and identities by Trudi's and inversion formulae.

  • We study spaces of continuous-function-valued functions that have the property that composition with evaluation functionals induce $weak^*$ to norm continuous maps to ${\ell}^p$ space ($p{\in}(1,\;{\infty})$). Versions of $H{\ddot{o}}lder^{\prime}s$ inequality and Riesz representation theorem are proved to hold on these spaces. We prove a version of Dixmier's theorem for spaces of function-valued matrix operators on these spaces, and an analogue of the trace formula for operators on Hilbert spaces. When the function space is taken to be the complex field, the spaces are just the ${\ell}^p$ spaces and the well-known classical theorems follow from our results.

The μ-synthesis and analysis of water level control in steam generators

  • The robust controller synthesis and analysis of the water level process in the U-tube system generator (UTSG) is addressed in this paper. The parameter uncertainties of the steam generator (SG) are modeled as multiplicative perturbations which are normalized by designing suitable weighting functions. The relative errors of the nominal SG model with respect to the other operating power level models are employed to specify the weighting functions for normalizing the plant uncertainties. Then, a robust controller is designed based on ${\mu}$-synthesis and D-K iteration, and its stability robustness is verified over the whole range of power operations. A gain-scheduled controller with $H_{\infty}$-synthesis is also designed to compare its robustness with the proposed controller. The stability analysis is accomplished and compared with the previous QFT design. The ${\mu}$-analysis of the system shows that the proposed controller has a favorable stability robustness for the whole range of operating power conditions. The proposed controller response is simulated against the power level deviation in start-up and shutdown stages and compared with the other concerning controllers.

  • Recent trend of increasing automated factories needs supply of high quality power from the utilities. Among the items of the power quality, voltage sag can be compensated by Dynamic Voltage Restorer(DVR). The key feature of the DVR is high response with less transient period to recover from the voltage sag due to the lightning or line-to-ground faults. In this paper we report that H controller is very premising for the practical application to the controller of DVR. Experiment al results shown in this paper was obtained by applying the control algorithm to 20 kVA DVR system. Robust decentralized control of structures using the LMI Hcontroller with uncertainties

  • This paper investigates the operation of the $H_{\infty}$ static output-feedback controller to reduce dynamic responses under seismic excitation on the five-story and benchmark 20 story building with parametric uncertainties. Linear matrix inequality (LMI) control theory is applied in this system and then to achieve the desired LMI formulations, some transformations of the LMI variables is used. Conversely uncertainties due to material properties, environmental loads such as earthquake and wind hazards make the uncertain system. This problem and its effects are studied in this research. Also to decrease the transition of large amount of data between sensors and controller, avoiding the disruption of whole control system and economy problems, the operation of the decentralized controllers is investigated in this paper. For this purpose the comparison between the performance of the centralized, fully decentralized and partial decentralized controllers in uncoupled and coupled cases is performed. Also, the effect of the changing the number of stories in substructures is considered. Based on the numerical results, the used control algorithm is very robust against the parametric uncertainties and structural responses are decreased considerably in all the control cases but partial decentralized controller in coupled form gets the closest results to the centralized case. The results indicate the high applicability of the used control algorithm in the tall shear buildings to reduce the structural responses and its robustness against the uncertainties.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 주파수하중 균형절단 기법과 주파수하중 한켈노옴 근사화 기법에 비하여 더 작은 H∞ 하중 축소오차를 가지는 새로운 알고리듬을 제시한다. 제시한 알고리듬은 제한 실 보조정리로부터 반복적인 두 단계의 선형행렬부등식 형태로 유도한다. 또한 제안한 알고리듬을 성능보장을 위한 제어기 차수축소기법에 적용한다. 수치적 예를 통하여 제안한 알고리듬의 타당성을 보이고 기존의 모델 차수축소기법과 비교 분석하며 HIMAT(highly maneuverable aircraft technology) 시스템의 예를 통하여 성능보장을 위한 제어기 차수축소 기법에 적용할 수 있음을 보인다.

  • We have investigated three polyene systems, $X-(-HC=CH-)_n-Y$, where X/Y=H/H, $F/CH_3$, and $NH_2/NO_2$. We estimated asymptotic values (for $n=\infty$ of the electronic properties with $logA=a_o+a_1/(n+1)+a_2/(n+1)^2+a_3/(n+1)^3$, so that the cases n=0 can be included in that equation. Here, A can be $\mu$, $\beta$, $\alpha/(n+1)$ or $\gamma/(n+1)$. For these asymptotic values. the SCF results are more reliable due to the higher level of theory, while the PM3 results can give better trend with more data for polyene systems with longer chain length.
