  • Conventional path planning methods have focused on the generation of an optimal shortest path to the goal. However, this optimal path cannot guarantee safe navigation, because it can often lead to a narrow area. Therefore, we propose a Coulomb's law-based safe path planning method that uses an information grid map. The information grid map includes four types of information: occupied, empty, guide, and dangerous areas. A safe path can be generated away from the dangerous area and close to the guide area by repulsive and attractive forces, respectively. Experiments and simulations show that the proposed method can generate paths inside the safe region and is useful for safe navigation.

  • The intention of this study is to construct the spatial database and to extract attribute data which are able to complete the omitted data in the topographical map or completion map of construction using the image data of various form such as artificial satellite images, aerial photographs, terrestrial photographs and so on. This study used the single frame images only for the raw image data, supposing the case of rigorous photogrammetric method is not available or rapid acquisition of information is need. The extracted spatial and attribute data from the images are used for modifying and updating the database, and for providing visual effect useful for guide and management of the facilities. This study intended to develop the technique able to apply in the case where comparative high accuracy is not required or rapid modification is necessary, and to verify the possibility of editing and updating the digital map using the photographs or video images remained as old data. Many of previous research on the management system for university facility has been accomplished focusing on the design and construction of database itself. Otherwise, this study aimed for the construction of guide and management system based on compiling the digital map of present state using multi-imagery, and the more applicability was intended too.

  • For preventing the accidents generated from the chemical materials, thus far, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) data have been made to notify how to use and manage the hazardous and chemical materials in safety. However, it is difficult for users who handle these materials to understand the MSDS data because they are only listed based on the alphabetical order, not based on the specific factors such as similarity of characteristics. It is limited in representing the types of chemical materials with respect to their characteristics. Thus, in this study, a lots of MSDS data are visualized based on relationships of the characteristics among the chemical materials for supporting safety managers. For this, we used the textmining algorithm which extracts text keywords contained in documents and the Self-Organizing Map (SOM) algorithm which visually addresses textual data information. In the case of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in the United States, the guide texts contained in MSDS documents, which include use information such as reactivity and potential risks of materials, are gathered as the target data. First, using the textmining algorithm, the information of chemicals is extracted from these guide texts. Next, the MSDS map is developed using SOM in terms of similarity of text information of chemical materials. The MSDS map is helpful for effectively classifying chemical materials by mapping prohibited and hazardous substances on the developed the SOM map. As a result, using the MSDS map, it is easy for safety managers to detect prohibited and hazardous substances with respect to the Industrial Safety and Health Act standards.

  • Railway route maps including subways is a guide map which offers transport information as well as cartographic diagrams and is not only a way of communication, but it should give also concrete image and pleasing form. The elements of route map should meet satisfaction requirement condition and design attributes with aesthetic principles. To guide passengers by giving geographic information effectively, we need to understanding the following concepts and its application of basic elements such as expressing its structure and value. Therefore it should appear as a diagram with typography, form, symbols and colour. This means the aim of a good visualization should be done by a method that is concrete and a synthesis of well composed elements.

  • People with auditory processing disorders(APD) do not exactly understand what they hear with normal hearing levels because of difficulties in the processing of auditory information in auditory nervous system. The purposes of this study are to investigate intervention strategies suggested by current literatures and to develop a guide map for APD intervention. The problem based intervention strategies are customized to the specific deficits of a subtype of Buffalo model and Bellis/Ferre model and general intervention strategies are recommended with compensatory strategy, auditory training, environmental modification and so on. Multidisciplinary team should determine and provide various intervention strategies to improve auditory capabilities of a child with APD intensively and persistently. APD intervention guide map is organized with four steps. It helps clinicians and teachers related with the intervention of APD find appropriate intervention strategies and process in order to reduce difficulties of a child with APD and a suspected APD.

  • Noise map is drawn up under launch environment through analyzing jet noise of guided weapon in this research. This has an important significance in terms of having an opportunity to look at influence of noise which is caused by guided weapon in the surrounding environment. In this paper, the magnitude of jet noise that was measured by using microphone and the result of numerical analysis that was gained by using ENPro which is environment noise prediction program are shown. At this point estimation of noise source was based on ISO 9613. Finally noise map derived from results mentioned above will become useful material when setting safety guide for protecting hearing loss of operator of weapon system in the future.
