One of the major difficulties with modular approach model of separation process simulation is initial guess problem. Only accurate initial guess make the problem converge and large computer memory and calculating time are required. In this study, we use the initial bottom guess value same as given feed condition and update the value the .theta.method. So we examine;(1)the problem converges using initial guess with large range, (2)computer memory and calculating time are reduced considerably.

An inverse finite element approach is employed for more capability to design the optimum blank shape from the desired final shape with small amount of computation time and effort. In some drawing or stamping simulation with inverse method, it is difficult to apply inverse scheme due to the large aspect ratio or steep vertical angle of inclination. The reason is that initial guesses are hard to make out with present method for those cases. In this paper, a direct mesh marring scheme to generate initial guess on the sliding constraint surface described by finite element patches is suggested for one step inverse analysis to calculate initial blank shape. Radial type mapping is adopted for the simulation of rectangular cup drawing process with large aspect ratio and parallel type mapping for the simulation of S-Rail forming process with steep vertical angle of inclination.
Wind data forecasted from the numerical weather prediction (NWP) model is generally used as the first-guess of the target tracking process to obtain the atmospheric motion vectors(AMVs) because it increases tracking accuracy and reduce computational time. However, there is a contradiction that the NWP model used as the first-guess is used again as the reference in the AMVs verification process. To overcome this problem, model-independent first guesses are required. In this study, we propose the AMVs derivation from Lucas and Kanade optical flow method and then using it as the first guess. To retrieve AMVs, Himawari-8/AHI geostationary satellite level-1B data were used at 00, 06, 12, and 18 UTC from August 19 to September 5, 2015. To evaluate the impact of applying the optical flow method on the AMV derivation, cross-validation has been conducted in three ways as follows. (1) Without the first-guess, (2) NWP (KMA/UM) forecasted wind as the first-guess, and (3) Optical flow method based wind as the first-guess. As the results of verification using ECMWF ERA-Interim reanalysis data, the highest precision (RMSVD: 5.296-5.804 ms-1) was obtained using optical flow based winds as the first-guess. In addition, the computation speed for AMVs derivation was the slowest without the first-guess test, but the other two had similar performance. Thus, applying the optical flow method in the target tracking process of AMVs algorithm, this study showed that the optical flow method is very effective as a first guess for model-independent AMVs derivation.
In most of automobile body panel manufacturing, trimming process is generally performed before flanging. To find feasible trimming line is crucial in obtaining accurate edge profile after flanging. Section-based method develops blank along manually chosen section planes and find trimming line by generating loop of end points. This method suffers from inaccurate results of edge profile. On the other hand, simulation-based method can produce more accurate trimming line by iterative strategy. In this study, new fast simulation-based method to find feasible trimming line is proposed. Finite element inverse method is used to analyze the flanging process because final shape after flanging can be explicitly defined and most of strain paths are simple in flanging. In utilizing finite element inverse method, the main obstacle is the initial guess generation for general mesh. Robust initial guess generation method is developed to handle genera] mesh with very different size and undercut. The new method develops final triangular mesh incrementally onto the drawing tool surface. Also in order to remedy mesh distortion during development, energy minimization technique is utilized. Trimming line is extracted from the outer boundary after finite element inverse method simulation. This method has many advantages since trimming line can be obtained in the early design stage. The developed method is verified by shrink/stretch flange forming and successfully applied to the complex industrial applications such as door outer flanging process.

The automotive industry have made an effort to reduce the weight of vehicle structures with increased safety, while initial model of the final product does not contain any prehistoric effects in a design stave. It takes lots of time to calculate forming effects that have great influences on the energy absorption of structures. In this paper, finite element inverse analysis is adopted to calculate forming effects, such as thickness variation and effective plastic strain as well as an initial blank shape with small amount of computation time. Crash analysis can be directly performed after inverse analysis of the forming process without remeshing scheme. The direct mesh mapping method is used to calculate an initial guess from the sliding constraint surface that is extracted from the die and punch set. Analysis results show that energy absorption of structures is increased with consideration of forming effects and finite element inverse analysis is usefully applicable to calculate forming erects of vehicle structures for the crash analysis.

In this paper. improved the formula of Kass. First of all, improved initial guess inside and outside of an object. So, prevent the of shrink, find more easily and faster the contour of object. Secondly, proposed the algorithm which moved to local minimum with the improvement of formula of the internal energy and $3{times}3$ matrix. Process the noise of local minimum with use of medial filtering. In third, process the phenomenon which edge points gather one point with imposing energy to the energy term. Improve the algorithm to find the contour precisely with the use of threshold. The result of these improvements, make an initial guess easily and find the contour of objects which have higher curvature. Improve the speed of process by reducing the repetition of feedback system.
The dynamic geometric environment plays a positive role in solving students' geometric problems. Students can infer invariance in change through dragging, and help solve geometric problems through the analysis method. In this study, the continuous spectrum of the dynamic geometric environment can be used to solve problems of students. The continuous spectrum can be used in the 'Understand the problem' of Polya(1957)'s problem solving stage. Visually representation using continuous spectrum allows students to immediately understand the problem. The continuous spectrum can be used in the 'Devise a plan' stage. Students can define a function and explore changes visually in function values in a continuous range through continuous spectrum. Students can guess the solution of the optimization problem based on the results of their visual exploration, guess common properties through exploration activities on solutions optimized in dynamic geometries, and establish problem solving strategies based on this hypothesis. The continuous spectrum can be used in the 'Review/Extend' stage. Students can check whether their solution is equal to the solution in question through a continuous spectrum. Through this, students can look back on their thinking process. In addition, the continuous spectrum can help students guess and justify the generalized nature of a given problem. Continuous spectrum are likely to help students problem solving, so it is necessary to apply and analysis of educational effects using continuous spectrum in students' geometric learning.
This work presents fuel-optimal altitude maintenance of Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) spacecrafts experiencing non-negligible air drag and J2 perturbation. A pseudospectral (direct) method is first applied to roughly estimate an optimal fuel consumption strategy, which is employed as an initial guess to precisely determine itself. Based on the physical specifications of KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite-2 (KOMPSAT-2), a Korean artificial satellite, numerical simulations show that a satellite ascends with full thrust at the early stage of the maneuver period and then descends with null thrust. While the thrust profile is presumably bang-off, it is difficult to precisely determine the switching time by using a pseudospectral method only. This is expected, since the optimal switching epoch does not coincide with one of the collocation points prescribed by the pseudospectral method, in general. As an attempt to precisely determine the switching time and the associated optimal thrust history, a shooting (indirect) method is then employed with the initial guess being obtained through the pseudospectral method. This hybrid process allows the determination of the optimal fuel consumption for LEO spacecrafts and their thrust profiles efficiently and precisely.
Shuster's algorithm for spin-axis determination is extended to include sensor bias and mounting angle as its solve-for parameters. The relation between direct and derived measurements bias is obtained by linearizing their kinematic equations. A one-step least-square estimation technique referred to as the 'closed form' solution is used, and the solution provides a more refined and decent initial guess for the subsequent filtering process contained within the differential correction module. The modified algorithm is applied for attitude determination of a GEO communication satellite in transfer orbit, and its results are presented.

A new finite elemetn approach is introduced for direct prediction of bland shapes and strain distributions from desired final shapes in sheet metal forming. The approach deals with the geometric compatibility of finite elements, plastic deformation theory, minimization of plastic work with constraints, and a proper initial guess. The algorithm developed is applied to cylindrical cup drawing, square cup drawing, and fron fender forming to confirm its validity by demonstratin reasonable accurate numerical results of each problems. Rapid calculation with this algorithm enables easy determination of various process variables for design of sheet metal forming process.
