CP-OFDM System using Circular Polarization (원편파를 이용한 CP-OFDM 시스템)

  • This paper proposes a CP-OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing using Circular Polarization) system for improving the system performance. The circular polarization has a characteristic that it cannot receive the reflected waves which are reflected by odd times. By reducing the influences of the reflected waves, the circular polarization can reduce the time delay spread and the inter-channel interference. The guard interval needed for the OFDM frame can be minimized and the orthogonality between subchannels can be improved by using circular polarization. Therefore the proposed CP-OFDM system can improve the system performance as well as the spectrum efficiency. Both theoretical analysis and system simulation results are described.

  • A new multitrack RLL codes with immunity to intertrack interference (ITI) is proposed. This code takes aim at a high density storage channels by reducing the track width and/or guard bands between tracks since it prevents transition in neighboring tracks at the same time epoch. The capacities of the codes are found for each maximum and minimum constraint pair.

  • With the rapid development of oil and chemical industry in the late 20C, massive transportation of oil by oil tanker vessel has grown and it caused the big oil pollution accidents. When oil spill from the oil tanker, damages reach into the astronomical figures in economically and damages affect wide area and many people with break the balance of ecosystem. Recently in Korea, the oil pollution accidents has occurred frequently as growing of oil consumption and it caused large-scale damages to the victim. Oil pollution in Korean offshore takes not only korean fishermen from their life ground and break the ecosystem but it takes too much time and money to recover. To minimize oil pollution damages, it is necessary to make pre-caution effort as a ship owner and relevant government bodies should endeavor to prevent from more damages. But once oil pollution accidents occurs in territorial sea, compensation for victim fishermen is very important. But it is true that compensation is not paid to victim smoothly. So this study aims at the problems of oil pollution compensation to the Korean victim and find the best way to get reasonable compensation.

  • Korea has disposed of medium and low level radioactive waste generated by operating nuclear power plants permanently through the radioactive waste repository located in Gyeongju. However, the maritime transport of radioactive waste is exposed to the risk of marine accidents, and it will be necessary to introduce a system to secure safety from the viewpoint of the function and role of the Korea Coast Guard. Especially, Korea is affected by large-scale marine accidents, such as the Hebei Spirit or Sewol accidents. From this point of view, we analyzed the current status of Korea radioactive waste shipping and examined the response systems of major foreign countries. As a result of examining major cases of accidents, we have operated an Emergency Towing Vessel (ETV) fleet centering on European countries in order to respond urgently to marine casualties that may have social, regional and international effects, such as accidents of similar nuclear material carriers and dangerous cargo ships. It proves a partial effect. Based on this, we propose the introduction of the Korean ETV System. In other words, it is necessary to respond to large-scale marine accidents that could lead to enormous environmental, property, and personal damage, such as marine accidents involving nuclear material ships, large oil tankers, and large passenger ships. For this, it seems necessary to introduce Korea ETV, which can carry out emergency towing, oil pollution control function, large - scale rescue equipment and manpower. This will lead to the enhancement of the Korea Coast Guard response to marine accidents, and will not miss the golden time of the initial response to the national disaster, which will help protect precious people, property and the environment.

Effects of Airport Special Guard's Security Service Value on Customers' Satisfaction and Customers' Loyalty (공항특수경비원들의 보안서비스가치가 고객만족 및 고객충성도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aims at exploring effects of airport special guard's security service value on customers' satisfaction and customers' loyalty. Users of airport facilities located in Incheon were selected as the population in Jun. 2013 and the sample was extracted using cluster random sampling and 460 people were used for a final analysis. The questionnaire used for the study was composed of total 22 items including 6 items of socio-demographical characteristics, 6 items of security service value, 6 items of customers' satisfaction and 4 items of customers' loyalty etc. and using SPSSWIN 18.0, factor analysis, reliability analysis, multiple regression analysis, path analysis etc. were used. The credibility of the questionnaire was indicated to be over ${\alpha}$=.809. The findings are as follows. First, security service value has an effect on customers' satisfaction. if monetary value is enhanced, satisfaction with service composition is high. second, security service value has an effect on customers' loyalty. If monetary value and time value are enhanced, will of continuous use and will of recommendation of others are high. Third, customers' satisfaction has an effect on customers' loyalty. If satisfaction with service composition and satisfaction with use decision are increased, will of continuous use and will of recommendation of others are high. Fourth, airport special guard's security service value has a direct and indirect effect on customers' satisfaction and customers' loyalty. That is, it means customers' satisfaction is an important variable to mediate security service value and customers' loyalty.

Performance Analysis of Channel Compensation and Channel Coding Techniques based on Measured Maritime Wireless Channel in VHF-band Ship Ad-hoc Network (VHF 대역 선박 간 애드혹 네트워크에서 실측 해상채널에 기반한 채널 보상과 채널 부호화 기법의 성능분석)

  • In this paper, the parameters of the RTT (Radio Transmission Techniques) for SANET (Ship Ad-hoc NETwork), which is considered for the next generation maritime communication systems, are set up. A channel model has been analyzed based on the practical measured maritime wireless channel in VHF (Very-High Frequency) for SANET system. Also, by considering the frame structure including preamble, guard time and pilots for both single and multi-carrier systems, the BER (Bit Error Rate) performances are evaluated and analyzed in the aspects of channel compensation and channel coding techniques. Based on the simulation results, optimal modulation & coding schemes are suggested for SANET. That is, in single-carrier system by using differential modulation schemes, channel compensation is not necessary. However, channel coding is helpful to achieve additional gain. On the other hand, when 16-QAM modulation is employed in multi-carrier system, the implementation of both channel compensation and channel coding techniques show huge performance gain for various of K values, which are related to different maritime environments, and the rolling effects of wave.

A Frame Structure of Modified ATSC Transmission Systems for Terrestial 3D HDTV Broadcasting (지상파 3D HDTV 전송을 위한 수정된 ATSC 전송 시스템의 프레임 구조에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose a frame structure for modified ATSC transmission systems which is used for a terrestrial 3D HDTV broadcasting. The modified ATSC transmission systems [2] see the potential of increasing a transmission capacity at reasonable TOV (Threshold of Visibility) by modifying channel codes of conventional ATSC systems and varying modulations. We use PN symbols (Pseudorandom Noise) in a guard interval which is used for avoiding the ISI (Inter Symbol Interference) to estimate and compensate the time-varying multi path channel effectively with a maximum transmission payload. With PN symbols in the guard interval, a CIR (Channel Impulse Response) in a time domain can be estimated and a compensation in a frequency domain can be achieved for the accurate channel estimation and compensation. The prosed frame structure is applied to the modified ATSC systems and computer simulations are performed for SER (Symbol Error Rate) performances in TU (Typical Urban)-6 Channel.

Performance of MIMO-OFDM System with Linear Pre-Equalization over Fading Channel (페이딩 환경에서 선형 사전 등화를 이용한 MIMO-OFDM 시스템의 성능)

  • Wireless communication channels with the most severe multipath fading phenomenon that appears each time a different delay is caused by the frequency selective fading. At this time, ISI due to the performance degradation of wireless communication channels and data transfer speed gives the constraints. OFDM technique can remove ISI inserting longer guard interval than channel delay spread of channel between symbol. However, the multi-path delay of the channel to be serious with the guard interval can not eliminate ISI. In this case, using the equalizer must compensate. Especially, use of equalizer is need absolutely as data rate becomes high speed. In this paper, we analyze the BER performance with pre-equalization for MIMO-OFDM over fading channel. The results of this paper can be applied to MIMO-OFDM system with equalization.

A Packet Collision Avoidance Technique in IEEE1609.4 Based Time Synchronization Multi-channel Environment (IEEE1609.4 기반 시간 동기 멀티채널 환경에서의 패킷 충돌 회피 기법)

  • In this paper, we analyze the communication performance in a time synchronous multi-channel environment and deal with a packet collision avoidance technique to improve it based on IEEE1609.4 for increasing the efficiency of the control channel IEEE802.11p WAVE communication system. In previous works, they tried to solve this problem by message scheduling method on application layer software or changing the value of the random back-off optionally Contention Window. In this paper, we propose a method for adjusting the Channel Guard Interval for packet collision avoidance. The performance was evaluated by the actual vehicle test. The result was confirmed performance over 90% PDR(Packet Delivery Ratio).
