  • This study was performed to investigate the health status and food habits of male college students in Wonju according to drinking behavior. A total of 204 (drinking group: 133, non-drinking group: 71) male college students were recruited and a questionnaire-based survey was conducted. General characteristics, drinking-related factors, health status, and food habits were investigated. Data were analyzed by SPSS program (ver 21.0). The type of residence (P<0.05) and obesity rate (P<0.05) were significantly different by drinking status. Frequency of drinking was 65.2%, and 39.9% of subjects started drinking upon entering college. The motivation to start drinking was 'from necessity'. Reason for drinking was 'Social relations'. The most frequent drinking opportunity in college was 'membership training'. The favorite kind of drink was beer. Health status factor scores for 'concerns about health (P<0.05)', and 'smoking (P<0.05)' were significantly higher in drinking group than those in non-drinking group. Food habits score (drinking group: 50.9 vs non-drinking group: 52.4, P<0.01) was significantly lower in the drinking group. Scores for 'I have breakfast regularly (P<0.05)', 'Do not eat the junk food often (P<0.05)', and 'Do not eat out often (P<0.05)' were significantly lower in the drinking group. 'Drink milk every day' was significantly higher in the drinking group.

  • In this era of knowledge economy, a variety of virtual communities are proliferating for the purpose of knowledge creation and utilization. Since the voluntary contributions of members are the essential source of knowledge, member turnover can have significant implications on the survival and success of virtual communities. However, there is a dearth of research on the effect of membership turnover and even the method of measurement for membership turnover is left unclear in virtual communities. In a traditional context, membership turnover is calculated as the ratio of the number of departing members to the average number of members for a given time period. In virtual communities, while the influx of newcomers can be clearly measured, the magnitude of departure is elusive since explicit withdrawals are seldom executed. In addition, there doesn't exist a common way to determine the average number of community members who return and contribute intermittently at will. This study initially examines the limitations in applying the concept of traditional turnover to virtual communities, and proposes five membership fluidity measures based on a preliminary analysis of editing behaviors of 2,978 featured articles in English Wikipedia. Subsequently, this work investigates the relationships between three selected membership fluidity measures and group collaboration performance, reflecting a moderating effect dependent on work characteristic. We obtained the following results: First, membership turnover relates to collaboration efficiency in a right-shortened U-shaped manner, with a moderating effect from work characteristic; given the same turnover rate, the promotion likelihood for a more professional task is lower than that for a less professional task, and the likelihood difference diminishes as the turnover rate increases. Second, contribution period relates to collaboration efficiency in a left-shortened U-shaped manner, with a moderating effect from work characteristic; the marginal performance change per unit change of contribution period is greater for a less professional task. Third, the number of new participants per month relates to collaboration efficiency in a left-shortened reversed U-shaped manner, for which the moderating effect from work characteristic appears to be insignificant.

  • We use a path analysis to identify influential latent variables on employees' anticipated commitment to a merged bank. Survey samples are taken from Hanvit bank which is a merged form of Hanil and Sangup. Latent variables used in the path analysis are perceptions of organizational support, contact conditions, organizational unity, employee threat and organizational commitment. We find an interesting pre-merger group membership effect as well as merger pattern perceived by employees on the path for the anticipated commitment to the merged bank.

  • Solar cell has an optimum operating point to extract maximum power. To control operating point of the solar cell, a fuzzy controller has already been proposed by our research group. However, several parameters are determined by trial and error. To overcome this problem, this paper adopts Fuzzy Neural Network (FNN) for maximum power point tracking control for photovoltaic array. The FNN can be trained to perfect fuzzy rules and to find an optimum membership functions on-line.

  • Free cash flow is known as a typical type of agency conflict between managers and shareholders in a firm. The insurance industry, which is not growing, is particularly susceptible to such excessive cash flow. We herein investigate the effects of stock ownership plans on reducing agency conflicts. We adopt undistributed cash flow to proxy free cash flow, and size, default risk, group membership, leverage, investment opportunity, and stock options are selected as explanatory variables. We find that stock option plans are effective(at a 10% level) in reducing free cash flow.

  • Multicasting is the delivery of a packet simultaneously to one or more destinations using a single, local transmit operation. Typically the set of destinations is referred to as a multicast group. sources transmit to these group addresses without knowing the group's actual membership. We have studied an implementation of one model of supporting IP multicast over ATM, the Multicast over ATM model developed by the IETF(Internet Engineering Task Force). MCOA(Multicast over ATM) that includes both these modes of operation and the behavior of each in a testbed where the ATM host were connected in a WAN and LAN. WAN topology was to gain insight into the effects of larger propagation delays on the MC over ATM model.

  • The recycling cell formation problem means that disposal products are classified into recycling part families using group technology in their end of life phase. Disposal products have the uncertainties of product status by usage influences. Recycling cells are formed considering design, process and usage attributes. In this paper, a novel approach to the design of cellular recycling system is proposed, which deals with the recycling cell formation and assignment of identical products concurrently. Fuzzy clustering algorithm and Fuzzy-ART neural network are applied to describe the states of disposal product with the membership functions and to make recycling cell formation. This approach leads to recycling and reuse of the materials, components, and subassemblies and can evaluate the value at each cell of disposal products. Application examples are illustrated by disposal refrigerators, compared fuzzy clustering with Fuzzy-ART neural network performance in cell formation.

  • Membership changing is deeply associated with scalability problem for group key management. If members of the group join or leave, new group key has to be geneerated and distributed to all remaining members of group. Group key changing is perform for group controller. The following parameters are important evaluating criteria of multicast key management scheme that generate and deliver new keys for rekeying: the number of keys stored by both controller and member, messages to deliver, keys to initially be delivered by controller, blocking capability of collusion attacks, messages to deliver at the batch rekeyng. Batch rekeying can reduce messages to deliver and operation costs of generation for message rather than removing members sequentially in fashion one after another. We propose efficient batch rekeying scheme applicable to Pegueroles scheme using random number and prove to be a efficient group key scheme for enhanced Pegueroles model with batch rekeying capability.
