The Effects of Developmental Bibliotherapy in School : In the Case of the Model School (발달적 독서치료 프로그램 운영의 효과 - 시범학교의 사례연구 -)

  • This paper analyzed the effects of group bibliotherapy in junior high school assigned by Daegu Metropolitan Office or Education as a model school. Seventy seven students haying problems were selected and divided into the two different programs which developed for internalizing problems and externalizing problems respectively. Each bibliotherapy program has been carried out 15 times. The effects of two programs were proved positive and statistically significant. The effect of each program were differ from the other, owing to the purpose and reading materials. The study skewed bibliotherapy are more effective for students having internalizing Problems and female students. Bibliotherapy also affected student's reading attitude. In order to reach self bibliotherapy, developmental bibliotherapy should be connected to the reading guidance.

  • The purpose of the study is to see how the bibliotherapy program has an effect on the improvement of a junior high school student's career maturity degree, and how it can be applied to students for developmental and collective approach. In this experiment, bibliotherapy program was progressed 11 times for 60 minutes to twenty second grade students of W junior high school in Kyeonggi-Do. There are two groups: one is the control group, and the other experiment group. In order to verify the effect of a bibliotherapy program a correspondence specimen t-test analysis was used. The degree of youth's course maturity has been checked to see if there is any difference between the preliminary inspection and the post inspection for both the experiment group and the control group. Moreover, ANCOVA was applied in order to grasp if there is any difference between the experiment group and the control group to the post mark.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate and understand changes experienced by participants in group bibliotherapy. For this purpose, individual interviews were conducted with 14 adults who were chosen by the best bibliotherapists through peer nomination and the results were analyzed by grounded theory, which is one sort of qualitative research method. This study has a significant meaning to provide a foundation of understanding of group bibliotherapy by exploring participants' experiences in depth through grounded theory approach and revealing the changes experienced and process of group bibliotherapy.

Effect of Bibliotherapy Program Based upon Literature Units of Korean Language Textbook on Self-Esteem of Middle School Students (국어교과서에 기초한 독서치료 프로그램이 중학생의 자아존중감에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop bibliotherapy program based upon literature units of Korean language textbook and to test it's effect on self-esteem of middle school students. Sixty-nine female middle school students participated in this study. Thirty-four students were assigned to experimental group and thirty-five ones were assigned to control group. Subjects completed Self-Esteem Inventory. Data analyses were conducted using t-test and ANCOVA. The results of the analyses revealed that subjects of experimental group showed significantly higher scores on self-esteem than ones of control group. Based upon the above results, it is concluded that bibliotherapy program based upon literature units of Korean language textbook was effective in improving self-esteem of female middle school students.

A Study on Bibliotherapy for Depressed Older Adults (노인의 우울증 해소를 위한 독서요법연구)

  • This research aimed at the investigation of the effectiveness of bibliotherapy for depressed older adults 65 years of age and older, The efficacy between interactive bibliotherapy and reading bibliotherapy was also compared and analysed. For implementing the research, 22 subjects, aged 65 or over. were recruited from the community on a volunteer basis to Participate in a bibliotherapy program. Initial screening of potential participants was conducted by testing the measurement of depression. Experiment results were analyzed via t-ananlysis(SD, P, T) and $2\times3(Group{\times}Time)$ between and within ANOVA calculated by SPSS program. The results of the analyses supported hypotheses 1, 2, and 3, focusing the efficacy of interactive bibliotherapy as well as reading bibliotherapy. The analysis of hypothesis 4 was revealed that the effectiveness of interactive bibliotherapy was superior to that of reading bibliotherapy in the score of BDI and HRSD, while there was no statistical significance in the score of DAS.

Group Bibliotherapy for Improving the Self-esteem of Middle-aged Women (중년여성들의 자존감 향상을 위한 집단 독서치료)

  • This study analyzed the phenomenological research method of Giorgi in order to understand the changes in the self-esteem of middle-aged women through group bibliotherapy. During this study, 12 sessions were conducted for six middle-aged women, and the participants' statements in the recorded files were analyzed and integrated into 221 semantic units, 16 sub-situations/topics, 6 situations/topics, and 3 groups. During the research, the participants suffered from neurosis symptoms due to family difficulties. Nevertheless, bibliotherapy showed favorable results; the use of picture books and thus the interaction between the participants led to positive, emotional and psychological responses. Furthermore, from the study, it was concluded that religious life played an important role in healing the participants' wounds.

  • In this study, We found out that bibliotherapy program for university student has its strong point and effectiveness. The result of this study are follows: 1) bibliotherapy program is a safe method which covers the advantage of group psychotherapy and make up for the disadvantages. 2) significant changes in imitational behavior, cohesion and acceptance of reality suggest the necessity of bibliotherapy program that focuses on university career. 3) In light of the gloomy reality of young people, the fact that university students discuss love and hope for romance was meaningful phenomenon. It is necessary to study the after reading activities that can enhance the effectiveness of the bibliotherapy program and the specific topics and media that is needed by universities. The study is an approach that is widely available in university and will be the first step to establish the professional direction for bibliotherapy program.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the categories of the bibliotherapy Program in the public libraries and to evaluate the effect of group bibliotherapy program for the decreasing aggressive behavior of the elementary school children. The effectiveness of bibliotherapy Program was very impressive and its expansion to the public library service is required.

  • The research which sees in the object, fundamental data under providing should have boiled 40 housewife students who are in the process of attending in the SOHAE college attempted about the effect which the bibliotherapy program reaches in stress decrement of the middle-aged woman. The result first, before bibliotherapy of the experimental group the stress degree was average 44.5%, after bibliotherapy the stress 10.25% degree came to be low with 34.25%. Second, recording where the private talk people all bibliotherapy which participated to a clinical bibliotherapy seems will be advanced the condition which is stabilized emotionally very, the stress relaxation which leads the bibliotherapy which is continuous and to seem in the family life management which is healthy strong desire.

A Study on the Effectiveness of Bibliotherapy Program to Reduce Stress of the Elderly (독서치료 프로그램이 노인 스트레스 감소에 미치는 효과 연구)

  • The purpose of the study is to prove the effectiveness of the bibliotherapy in decreasing the stress among the elderly. A 4-week program was developed and provided in 2 types, group meeting and individual telephone contact, for the old over 60 years. A total of 121 participants completed the program offered at 16 institutions. Participants' stress perception and stress response were measured prior to the bibliotherapy and post-tests were followed. 17 hypotheses were tested statistically by t-test and ANOVA. The followings are the main results. Both types of the bibliotherapy are effective in decreasing the stress of the old. Group meeting program is more effective than individual contact program. There were no significant effectiveness difference among the groups divided by sex, age, and education level. Bibliotherapy effectiveness is differ among groups divided by the initial stress perception level. Obviously, bibliotherapy was more effective for the old in high stress level than those in low stress level. Based on the results, recommendations are suggested to promote the bibliotherapy program.
