Excavations by blasting in urban area have caused lots of complaints. Hence, special attentions need to be paid to controlling the ground vibrations in designing blasting for those areas. In this study, among the various parameters that can affect the propagation characteristics of ground vibrations, the effect of the priming location of explosive on the ground vibration level was studied for two types of emulsion explosives that had different detonation velocities. Three priming locations of top, middle, and bottom were considered in a charged hole. In the experiment on the effect of detonation velocity, the ground vibration caused by the explosive with a lower detonation velocity showed larger attenuation in the amplitude. The priming locations also affected the ground vibrations levels. The ground vibration level produced from middle priming was found to be larger than the other priming methods under the same blast conditions, but the attenuation of amplitude was also larger in this case. In contrast, the ground vibration level from bottom priming was not larger than the middle priming, but the attenuation was smaller so that the ground vibration was detected at a longer distance.

The high interest for the ground vibrations which is caused by the train service is risen. When the trains are passed, a serious force is applied to ground and the caused vibration is propagated to the area of the building by the ground and rocks. This vibration comes to feel in the residents with the direct vibration, it is radiated in sound. The caused vibration and radiated sound affect the human's life, and this vibration brings about the operation interruption of the equipment which is sensitive to the vibration, or will bring about the structural damage of the building. In this study, the effect of the vibrations caused by the passing trains on the railway station and buildings is investigated by vibration measurement. Indoor and outdoor measurement is carried out by each trains.
Noise and vibration due to railway traffic are major causes of environmental pollution in the city. In course of judging, assessing and coping with the problem, it becomes imperative to predict the vibration level induced by railway traffic passing through downtown in the city. The vibration due to railway traffic is transferred to the neighbouring buildings through the ground. In this study, as a method predicting vibration level of the buildings near railway, a vibration transfer formula is suggested. This formula is used to calculate vibration level occuring at the bottom of the neighbouring buildings, which are located at a certain distance from railway.
On Influence of ground Vibration occured when smoky-chimney is demolished. The Shock Energy by falling down of smoky-ehimney(60m height ) demolition spread mainly to the breaking reinforced concrete and to ground Vibration.
This study is investigated the extent of the noise and ground vibration in an adjacent zone of a cattle pen and an antiquated housing structures for judgement of the spot applicability on the extents of the noise and ground vibration of the rock-splitting method by an oil pressure. It is studied by measuring and analysing in an adjacent position the extents of the noise and ground vibration according to the work process of the rock-splitting method, such as drilling, rock-splitting, arranging rock, loading and by being compared with the permitted level on the noise and ground vibration fixed at the spot. To the results, it is identified that the influence to the noise has to be considered, even if the rock-splitting method is applied as an excavation method to lower a ground vibration by the classification on blasting method of the ministry of land, transport and marine affairs.
This paper describes the instruments used, and the test procedures adopted, and the findings obtained from a research project aiming to investigate, via full-scale field tests, the ground borne vibration caused by underground railway tunnel constructed in hard rock. The ground borne vibration induced by high-speed trains (i.e. the Korea Train eXpress (KTX) services) with a speed of approximately 200km/hr was measured inside the borehole constructed in the close proximity to the KTX tunnel using 3-component borehole seismographs in order to investigate the wave propagation of ground borne vibration. This paper also discusses the limitation associated with the current practice of measuring ground borne vibration using conventional borehole seismograph.
Ground vibration generated repeatedly in blasting tunnel excavation sites is known to be one of the major hazards induced by blasting operations. Various studies have been conducted to minimize these hazards, both theoretical and empirical methods using electronic detonator, the deck charge method, the center-cut method among others Among these various existing methods for controlling the ground vibration, in this study, we investigated the cut method. In particular, we analyzed and compared the V-cut method, which is commonly used in tunnel blasting, to the double-drilled parallel method, which has recently been introduced in tunnel excavation site. To understand the rock fragmentation efficiency as well as the ground vibration controllability of the two methods, we performed in-situ field blasting tests with both cut methods at a tunnel excavation site. Additionally, numerical analysis by FLAC3D has been executed for a better understanding of fracture propagation pattern and ground vibration generation by each cut method. Ground vibration levels, by PPVs measured in field blasting tests and PPVs estimated in numerical simulations, showed a lower value in the double-drilled parallel compared with the V-cut method, although the exact values are quite different in field measurement and numerical estimation.

In this study, ground vibrations and aero space noises that is produced by the PRD(percussion rotary drill) were analyzed by work processes. Ground vibration equations were suggested by $2.798(SD)^{-0.793}$, $3.485(SD)^{-0.793}$, $3.705(SD)^{-0.793}$, according to experiment result, and these equations have reliability of 50%, 90%, 95%, respectively. Ground vibration values by the PRD method correspond to level of $5{\sim}34%$ of values that are assumed by the Attewell & Farmer's equation, and these result compares in reliability 50%. Also, those values were analyzed that correspond to level of $12{\sim}26%$ of ground vibration values by the Prof. Park etc.'s equations. But, the aero space noise was evaluated that is assumed by 88.9 dB(A) at separated distance 50m and is not satisfied even 85dB(A) that is the most negative noise value that present in domestic noise standard. The PRD method was analyzed that noise decrease effect exists hardly comparing with general pile driving method of construction. When is based in these results, the PRD method is judged that it is desirable that classify by the Low-vibration method more than the Non-violation noise method.

Considering a countermeasure against vibration along the existing line, in many cases, it may be the most efficient method to replace existing fasteners with high resilient fasteners because of the restriction of the construction of a new track type. There are many types of high resilient fasteners which are different in price and performance. Therefore it is important to choose the high resilient fastener which has best vibration-proof performance per price. In this study, a prediction method which can exactly evaluate the performance of a fastener in the reduction the ground borne noise in the existing line is presented, which is constructed based on the combination of the measurement and the simulation. A numerical example using the presented method is introduced to evaluate the vibration-proof performance for the solution of the vibration problem in the existing line.
