  • The rotorbody and rotor winding of generator are isolated by an insulator and the output characteristic of the generator is maintained in the best states. Only when an insulation resistance between them is over a certain extent. The aim of this research is to develop the simulator for rotor earth fault detection circuits. It is composed of the power resource which is to control the virtual field voltage, stepping motor which is to give virtual ground. It is possible to inspect with the device and program developed in this study in the same as real operating condition and evaluate the integrity of generator rotor through the function of data acquisition and graphic output. If these technologies will be applied to the inspection, prevent a damage of the generator and contribute to improve maintenance reliance.

  • The thermal conductivity and viscosity(or workability) of graphite-added bentonite grouts and cementitious grouts have been evaluated and compared to determine the suitability of these materials for backfilling vertical boreholes of ground heat exchangers. Seven bentonite grouts from different product sources and a portland cement grout with various mixture ratios were considered in this paper. As a new additive for grout, we choose graphite which has high thermal conductivity. The bentonite grouts indicate that the thermal conductivity and viscosity increase with the content of bentonite or with an addition of Graphite compared with that of silica sand. In case of cementitious grout also increase the thermal conductivity and decrease the workability dramatically though an addition of Graphite. Therefore, we cautiously select the amount of graphite and mixture ratio of bentonite and cement considering not only thermal conductivity but also viscosity for the optimum condition of backfilling material.

  • Recently, Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) based on reliability analysis has become a global trend for economical and rational design. In order to implement the LRFD, quantification of uncertainty for load and resistance should be done. The reliability of result relies on input variable, and therefore, it is important to obtain exact uncertainty properties of load and resistance. Since soil stress is the main reason causing the settlement or deformation of ground and load on the underground structure, it is essential to clarify the uncertainty of soil stress distribution for accurately predict the uncertainty of load in LRFD. In this study, laboratory model test on silty sand bed under probabilistic load is performed to observe propagation of upper load uncertainty. The results show that the coefficient of variation (COV) of soil stress are varied depending on location due to non-linear relationship between upper load increment and soil pressure increment. In addition, when the load uncertainty is transmitted through ground, COV is decreased by damping effect.

  • The technology for characteristic analysis of device for high integration is changing rapidly. Therefore to understand characteristics of high -integrated device by computer simulation and fabricate the device having such characteristics became one of very important subjects. As devices become smaller from submicron to nanometer, we have investigated MOSFET built on an epitaxial layer(EPI) of a heavily-doped ground plane by TCAD(Technology Computer Aided Design) to develop optimum device structure. We analyzed and compared the EPI device characteristics such as impact ionization, electric field and I-V curve with those of lightly doped drain(LDD) MOSFET. Also, we presented that TCAD simulator is suitable for device simulation and the scaling theory is suitable at nano structure device.

  • In this paper, we proposed a internal antenna for Quad band for GSM/DCS/USPCS/WCDMA Handset. Antenna Structure is designed to PIFA type. Antenna planed two independence patterns to reduce the size for efficiency and used shoting pin and inverse seven_type slit. Also they miniaturized the antenna construction electronic length for duty. furthermore, they designed and producted the antena height for 5w and ground term for 40*80mm. It is because they have wondered the thickness of terminal. used of for reduce size efficiently. The radiation pattern characteristic of antenna is compared and analyzed E-plane and H-plane at 920MHz, 1800MHz.

  • With the aim of global environmental monitoring we carried out GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) surveys at the Livingstion Island in Antarctica. Research area is near the Mt. Charra (340m) in Livingston Island which is located 80 km to the southwest of the King Sejong Station. We have collected 5 lines of GPR data. Two kinds of survey, CMP (Common Midpoint) surveys and common offset profiles, were performed. We classified the glacier into the three layers using electromagnetic velocity of the ice and reflection characteristic, The depth of glacier reached about $80{\~}110\;m$. Some reflectors showed the evidence of the water filled englacial drainage and volcanic ash-layers.

  • The radiometric correction is prerequisite to derive both land and ocean surface properties from optical remote sensing data. Radiometric calibration of remotely sensed data has traditionally been accomplished by means of vicarious ground calibration techniques. The purpose of this study is to calibrate the radiometric characteristic of Airborne Multispectral Scanner (AMS) by field campaign. In order to calibrate the AMS data, four different spectral tarps which are 3.5%, 23%, 35%, and 53% were validated by GER-3700 that is the surface reflectance measurement equipment and were utilized. After validation of the spectral tarps, each reflectance from the spectral tarps was compared with Digital Number (DN) value of AMS. There was very high correlation between tarp reflectance and DN value of AMS so that radiometric calibration of AMS data has been accomplished by those results. The calibrated AMS data were validated with in-situ measured reflectance data from artificial and natural target. Also QuickBird image data were used for verifying the results of AMS radiometric calibration. This presentation discusses the results of the above tests.

  • A complete electromagnetic simulation for a ground-penetrating radar(GPR) is implemented by employing 3-dimensional dispersive finite-difference time-domain(FDTD) method. The presented simulation model includes the cavity-backed bow-tie antennas, which are terminated by resistors. And an equivalent cirvuit consisting of the input impedance of the antenna and the characteristic impedance of the feed line is used to calculate the response in the receiving antenna. Actual emasurements of a GPR system including our manufactured bow-tie antenna pair are performed just above dry sand contained in a PVC tank. It is confirmed that the FDTD simulation results agree well with the actual measurement data.

  • The solar eclipse affects terrestrial environments in various aspects. For instance, it is well known that the electron concentration and current density decrease in the ionosphere due to the reduction of solar irradiation during solar eclipse. In this study, we carry out the statistical analysis of x, y, z, H-components, and the intensity of the geomagnetic field using the ground based geomagnetic data observed during the solar eclipses from 1991 to 2016. First, we confirm that characteristic decreases in the x and H-components can be seen in the vicinity of the maximum eclipse time at the observing site. Second, we find that the decrease in x and H-components is more conspicuous during the total solar eclipse rather than the partial or annular eclipses. We also find that such a dip is likely to be noticed when the observing site locates in the second half compared to the first half of the eclipse path, as well as when the eclipse occurs in dusk side than in dawn side. Third, we find that reductions in the ground geomagnetic field by the solar eclipse are more evident in the ascending phase of the solar cycle than in the descending phase. Finally, we briefly discuss implications of our findings.

  • In this paper, we present a compact Ultra-Wideband band-pass filter using a high-pass filter and low-pass filter. The structure of our proposed band-pass filter is very simple and the DGS(Defected Ground Structure) structure is used to get the low-pass filter characteristic. Our proposed band-pass filter can be much smaller than a cascaded filter. As a result of measurement the insertion loss is less than 0.5dB throughout the pass-band of $2.1GHz{\sim}10.56GHz$, the return loss is more than 20dB and the group delay maximum variation is 0.23ns from 0.12ns to 0.35ns.
