CBN과 WA숫돌에 의한 연삭에서 연삭력과 표면거칠기 특성 (Characteristics of Grinding Force and Surface Roughness by CBN and WA Wheel)

  • In this study an experimental investigation was conducted to find the grinding characteristics of ceramics, STD11 and STS304 materials. The grinding force and the microscopic observation of the workpieces were obtained in surface grinding. Grinding characteristics of ceramics were inspected through the microscopic examination the cutting force, and the surface roughness. It has been found that the finding force of ceramics is relatively low as compared to that of steels and that CBN wheel has an excellent performance. The surface roughness was measured according to the feedrate and the depth of out.

  • One of the problems in grinding process using a machining center(MC) with a small diametric wheels is machining error due to decrease of the quill diameter. In this study, side-cut grinding is performed with a vitrified bonded CBN wheel on the machining center. Grinding experiments are performed at various grinding conditions including quill length, quill diameter and depth of cut. The effect on the grinding force, machining error and surface roughness due to the change of the quill rigidity are investigated experimentally. The slenderness ratio of the quill is significant factor to analyse the change of the grinding force and machining error.

  • In the grinding process, the edge of shape is very important to evaluate the surface roughness and the precision of dimension. To keep precision of product, parameters with respect to the amount of wheel wear have to limit by grinding condition. In this paper, we measured variation of grinding force to seek the grinding characteristics by the amount of wheel wear in surface grinding. Also, we find out that how these condition give influence to wheel life.

  • The grinding operation is an important machining process for machining of final surface. However. grinding process has inevitable troubles such as loading and glazing for grinding wheel. It is, therefore, an essential research theme to determine the wheel life and the dressing timefor efficient grinding. In this study, AE signals (AEavg) generated in thc grinding operation were measured and the dressing time was determined from the analysis of the AEavg value. To verify the propriety of the obtained result. the AE signals measured on the grinding and the dressing operation were compared with the grinding force signals and the dressing force which were measured at same time. From the obtained result, it was confirmed that the determination of the wheel life and the dressing time by the AE measurement technique proposed in this study can be practically used.

  • Internal high speed grinding under several high grinding wheel speed condition has been performed in this study for the effects have analyzed and compared with the grinding power, grinding tangential force and accuracy of surface with the carbon tool steel(SK3). The following results have been obtained: (1) Under the workpiece speed constant condition, increasing the grinding speed, the tangential force is decreased, and on the contrary, accuracy of surface is improved. (2) Under the speed ratio (V$_{w}$/V$_{s}$) contant condition it is possible to increase the high machining efficiency constraint to tangential grinding force constant.ant.

Modeling of the Centerless Through-feed Grinding Process

  • A computer simulation method for investigating the form generation mechanism in the centerless through-feed grinding process is described. The length of the contact line and the magnitude of the grinding force between the grinding wheel and workpieces, vary with the change in the axial location of the current workpiece during grinding. Thus, a new coordinate system and a grinding force curve of previous and/or following workpieces are introduced to treat the axial motion. Experiments and computer simulations were carried out using four types of cylindrical workpiece shapes. To validate this model, simulation results are compared with the experimental results.

In this thesis, side-cut grinding is performed with a vitrified bonded CBN wheel on the machining center to establish the basis of the grinding using MC. The grinding force and machining error are investigated experimentally for the change of the machining condition. It is possible to estimate the machining performance by the ratio of the setting depth of cut and actual depth of cut. In addition, the relation between normal grinding force and machining error is presented by the experimental formula.

  • In this paper, the grinding characteristics of internal thrust grinding were studied with vitreous CBN wheels using a machining center. Grinding experiments were performed according to grinding conditions, such as wheel feed speed and depth of cut, workpiece speed, and rate of grinding width. Additionally, the grinding force and grinding ratio were investigated though these experiments. Based on the experimental results, the grinding characteristics of internal thrust grinding were discussed.

  • Silicon has been widely used in electronic parts as a semiconductor equipment. It, however, requires much effort to grind without microcrack and chipping because of its high hardness and brittleness. So far, many studies for the grinding of engineering ceramics have been done, but not for the grinding of silicon. In this paper, a theoretical analysis on the grinding forces is introduced. Grinding experiments were performed at various grinding conditions including grinding directions (Up grinding and Down grinding), table speeds and depth of cuts. The grinding forces were measured to compare at various grinding conditions. The experimental values agree well with theoretical ones.

  • In this paper, the grinding characteristics in internal grinding methods(plunge, thrust) were studied with vitreous CBN wheels using machining center. Grinding experiments were performed according to the same material removal rate conditions such as a wheel speed, depth of cut and workpiece speed. And the grinding force, machining error and grinding ratio were investigated though these experiments. Based on the experimental results, the grinding characteristics on internal grinding methods were compared.
