Impulse Ground Impedances of a Deeply Driven Ground Rod Combined with Different Shape Grounding Electrodes (형상이 다른 접지전극에 접속된 심매설 봉상 접지전극의 임펄스접지임피던스 특성)

  • This paper describes the characteristics of effective impulse ground impedance of deeply driven ground rods combined with grounding grid or counterpoises with needles. The potential rises of the test ground electrodes were measured as a function of the rise time of applied impulse currents and the effective impulse ground impedances were calculated The impulse ground impedances of deeply driven ground rods strongly depend on the rise time of impulse currents and significantly reduced by the connection of grounding grids in parallel.

  • The goal of this research is the establishment of a connection of an existing water quality model to GIS. The water quality model investigated was the Water Quality Analysis Simulation Program (WASP5), while the actual linkage was performed using object-oriented programming. The runoff and the non-point source loadings into the Channel were determined using a grid-based model developed in GIS. Afterwards, scripts were written in the ArcView programming language, Avenue, in order for ArcView to perform the following tasks : 1) write the input file informations, 2) format the input information into the proper WASP5 file, 3) execute the WASP5 subprogram for modeling.

  • In this study, we review the status of Southwest sea 2.5GW offshore wind project and expected various problems. And we suggest government policies for offshore wind industrialization. Especially, we would like to mention the necessity of offshore wind development in order to diversify power sources and guarantee energy security in Korea. And we would like to mention necessity and direction to make offshore wind into growth engine industry thorough fusion between industries and energization for the existing industry such as civil, shipbuilding, steel, etc. that was headed into downturn.

Performance of Double Fed Induction Machine at Sub- and Super-Synchronous Speed in Wind Energy Conversion System

  • In this paper two modes of operating a wound rotor induction machine as a generator at sub-and super-synchronous speeds in wind energy conversion systems are investigated. In the first mode, known as double fed induction generator (DFIG), the rotor circuit is fed from the ac mains via a controlled rectifier and a forced commutated inverter. Adjusting the applied rotor voltage magnitude and phase leads to machine operation as a generator at sub-synchronous speeds. In the second mode, the machine is operated in a slip recovery scheme where the slip energy is fed back to the ac mains via a rectifier and line commutated inverter. This mode is described as double output induction generator (DOIG) leading to increase the efficiency of the wind-to electrical energy conversion system. Simulated results of both modes are presented. Experimental verification of the simulated results are presented for the DOIG mode of operation, showing larger amount of power captured and better power factor when compared to conventional induction generators.

  • An investigation into power conditioners that interface with photovoltaic array and utilities has been completed. The rating for this investigation is residential system(3-5kVA) that interface with a 220V single phase utility connection. As the result of this investigation, a 3kVA high frequency PWM IGBT inverter feeding a high frequency isolation transformer with a sinusoidal current wave was selected. The output of the transformer rectified with a diode bridge rectifier. four IGBT, used as 60Hz switched, reverse the polarity of the rectified current on every other half cycle of the utility voltage. Even though the high frequency link system used more power semiconductors, a net size, weight, and parts cost saving result compared to the other systems due to elimination of 60Hz transformer.

Economic Considerations Underlying the Adoption of HVDC and HVAC for the Connection of an Offshore Wind Farm in Korea

  • Wind energy is created in mega-sized wind farms situated kilometers off shore. In fact, two possibilities are considered for the transmission system between the offshore wind farm and the onshore grid: high-voltage direct current and high-voltage alternating current. From this point of view, the current paper aims to compare both systems for a 2 GW wind farm situated 80 km from the Point of Common Coupling on an economic basis using a discounted cash flow analysis. A tool is developed in Microsoft Excel to allow for quick insight in the variation of input parameters.

  • The study concerning about the grid connection of the large-capacity battery energy storage system(BESS) is increasing. However, the protection study which is necessary to maintain the reliability of distribution system has been hardly performed. Therefore, this paper analyzes the effect of reclosing among protection issues in distribution system with BESS and proposes the new relcosing method. To verify the proposed method, the BESS, distribution system, and proposed method are modeled by using EMTP/ATPDraw and the various simulations according to the fault clearing time are performed. The simulation results show that the reclosing in distribution system with BESS is successfully performed by proposed method and the operation of BESS is not affected from reclosing.

  • The study concerning about the grid connection of the large-capacity energy storage system(ESS) is increasing. However, the transient study such as lightning or switching surge necessarily occurred at power system with ESS has been hardly performed. Therefore, this paper performs the analysis of lightning surge in distribution system with ESS using electromagnetic transient program(EMTP). The battery model in Matlab/Simulink is modeled by EMTP, which is the specialized software for power system transient study. Also, the bi-directional power electronics for interconnection of the battery and distribution system are modeled by EMTP. When the lightning is occurred at interconnection point of ESS, this paper simulates the existence of ESS and operation conditions of ESS and analyzes the surge in distribution system and ESS according to the various conditions.

  • 본 논문은 이중여자 발전기를 사용하는 풍력발전기에서 안정적인 계통투입을 위한 계통연계 전 후 발전기의 인덕턴스 변화에 따른 전류제어기 이득 값 선정에 대하여 연구하였다. DFIG(Doubly Fed Induction Generator)방식을 이용하는 풍력발전기는 회전자 전류제어를 함으로써 고정자의 전압을 제어하고, 제어된 고정자 전압은 계통과 연결된다. 특히 회전자 전류제어기 성능은 LVRT(Low Voltage Ride Through)등 예상하지 않은 외란에 대하여 빠른 응답성을 필요로 한다. 그러나 발전기가 계통과 연계되는 순간 발전기의 내부 파라미터 값의 변동이 발생하며, 이는 계통 투입 전 발전기 파라미터에 근거한 RSC(Rotor Side Converter)측 전류제어기 이득 값에 영향을 미쳐, 전류제어가 불안정하게 하는 원인이 되거나, 전류제어 응답성을 낮추게 하는 요인이 된다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 계통투입 전 후의 RSC측 전류제어기의 이득 값을 달리하여 안정적인 계통 투입이 가능하도록 하는 알고리즘을 시뮬레이션과 실험으로 증명하였다.

  • According to the climatic characteristics of the wind power output is difficult to predict and a severe strain due to a change in output has been very influential in the grid. Jeju Hangwon wind farm, many of the wind generator is installed in a wide area because it is not have this device that artificially Smoothing is needed. In addition, By the requirements of the power company active power supply / control and improve power system reliability and energy storage during the peak demand for electricity using the energy stored in the power supply is needed. In this paper, Unit 12 in Jeju Hangwon demonstrated 0.5MW PCS and energy storage system associated with the wind through the stabilization of output and the leveling of output and test results will be introduced.
