환경 조건 차이에 의한 경안천 토양의 유기물 분해속도와 온실가스 발생 변화 (Change of Organic Matter Decomposition Rates and Greenhouse Gas Emission of the Soil of Gyeongan Stream under Different Environmental Conditions)

  • 이 연구는 경안천 토양에서 기후 조건의 차이, 식물의 유무, 질소 농도의 차이에 따른 토양의 생물학적 유기물 분해속도의 변화가 대기 중 온실가스($CH_4$, $CO_2$) 발생에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 본 연구 결과, 유기물 분해속도와 $CH_4$, $CO_2$ flux 모두 환경 조건이 동시에 변화하는 경우에 영향을 받음을 알 수 있었다. 유기물 분해 속도는 기후 조건의 차이와 질소농도의 차이, 기후 조건 차이와 식물의 유무가 있는 경우에 영향을 받음을 알 수 있었다. $CH_4$ flux는 기후 조건 차이와 질소 농도의 차이, 기후 조건 차이와 식물의 유무, 식물의 유무와 질소 농도의 차이가 있는 경우에 영향이 있었으며 $CO_2$ flux는 기후 조건 차이와 식물의 유무, 식물의 유무와 질소 농도의 차이가 있는 경우에 영향이 있음을 통해 기후 조건 차이와 식물의 유무, 질소 농도의 차이가 유기물 분해속도에 영향을 주어 대기 중 온실가스 발생에 영향을 줄 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 기후 조건 차이는 토양의 분해를 증진시켜 대기로 방출되는 온실가스 또한 가중시킬 수 있다고 알려져 있으나, 본 연구를 통해 기후변화가 유기물의 분해와 대기로의 온실가스 방출을 감소시킬 수 있다는 결과를 도출할 수 있었으며 기후 조건 차이 외의 질소가 유입될 경우, 순영향(positive effect)을 주게 됨을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 식물의 영향이 작용할 경우 질소의 유입으로 인한 순영향을 감소시킬 수 있음을 알 수 있었으며, 이에 따른 추가적인 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

1990년부터 2008년까지 우리나라 경종분야 온실가스 (메탄) 배출량 평가 (Assessment on Greenhouse Gas ($CH_4$) Emissions in Korea Cropland Sector from 1990 to 2008)

  • 농업활동 중 경종분야인 벼재배와 작물잔사 소각은 온실가스인 메탄의 주 발생원이다. 이번 연구는 1990년부터 2008년까지 우리나라 경종분야에서 발생하는 메탄 배출량을 평가하기 위해 수행되었다. 우리나라에서 벼 재배에 의한 메탄 배출량은 1990년 395 천 톤에서 2008년 297 천 톤으로 벼 재배면적의 감소에 따라 지속적으로 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 작물잔사 소각에 의한 메탄 배출량은 1990년 2,502 톤에서 2008년 2,726 톤으로 작물별 차이는 있었으나 연도별 전체 배출량에는 큰 변화없이 일정한 값을 유지하였다. 작물잔사 소각에 의한 메탄 배출은 경종부분 전제 배출량에는 큰 영향을 미치지 않았다. 벼재배와 작물잔사 소각에 의한 총 메탄 배출량을 이산화탄소로 환산한 값은 1990년 8,356 천 톤 $CO_2$-eq.에서 2008년 6,287 천 톤$CO_2$-eq.로 나타났다. 농업부문의 온실가스 배출량 평가의 정확도 제고를 위해서는 활동자료의 신뢰성 확보가 무엇보다도 중요하다. 2010년부터 농촌진흥청과 통계청이 공동으로 활동자료의 공식적인 조사를 시작하였으며, 이러한 체계적인 활동량 조사는 농업부문 온실가스 배출량 평가의 신뢰도 향상과 불확도 저감에 크게 기여할 것으로 예상된다.

De-NOx 저감장치가 온실가스 배출량에 미치는 영향 연구 (A Study on the Effect of De-NOx Device on GHG Emissions)

  • As increase the number of vehicles, the issue of greenhouse gas that was emitted by them became important. As a result, greenhouse gas (GHG) regulations are being strengthened and efforts are being actively made to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the automotive industry. In the other hand, regulations for harmful emission of vehicles have been reinforced by step. Especially, the lastly applied step, so called Euro 6, not only decreased NOx limit down to half of Euro 5 but also introduced real driving emission limit for NOx and PN. It is a challenge for manufacturers to meet the recent GHG regulation as well as the latest emission regulation. To overcome these regulations a De-NOx after-treatment system is being applied to diesel vehicles that are known emitting the lowest GHG among conventional internal combustion engines. At the time of the introduction of Euro 6 emission standard in Korea, in the domestic fuel economy certification test, some diesel vehicles emitted more $CH_4$ than Euro 5 vehicles. As a result, it was confirmed that LNT-equipped vehicles emitted a high level $CH_4$ and the level exceeded the US emission standard. In order to determine the reason, various prior literature was investigated. However, it was difficult to find a detailed study on the methane increase with LNT. In this paper, to determine whether the characteristics of vehicles equipped with LNT the affects the above issue and other greenhouse gases, 6 passenger cars were tested on several emission test modes and ambient temperatures with a environment chamber chassis dynamometer. 2 cars of these were equipped with LNT only, other 2 cars had SCR only, and LNT + SCR were applied to remaining 2 cars. The test result shown that the vehicles equipped with LNT emitted more $CH_4$ than the vehicles with SCR only. Also, $CH_4$ tended to increase as the higher acceleration of the test mode. However, as the test temperature decreases, $CH_4$ tended to decreased. $CO_2$ was not affected by kinds of De-NOx device but characteristic of the test modes.

  • Global warming has been widely recognized as a serious problem threatening the future of human beings. It is caused by the buildup in the atmosphere of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, methane, hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6). Particularly, SF6 has extremely high global warming potential compare to those of other global warming gases. One option for mitigating this greenhouse gas is the development of an effective process for capturing and separating these gases from anthropogenic sources. In general, gas hydrates can be formed under high pressure and low temperature. However, SF6 gas is known to form hydrate under relatively milder conditions. Therefore, technological and economical effects could be expected for the separation of SF6 gas from waste gas mixtures. In this study, we carried out morphological study for the SF6 hydrate crystals to understand its formation and growth mechanisms. The observations were made in high-pressure optical cell charged with liquid water and SF6 gas at constant pressure and temperature. Initially SF6 hydrate formed at the surface between gas and liquid regions, and then subsequent dendrite crystals grew at the wall above the gas/water interface. The visual observations of crystal nucleation, migration, growth and interference were reported. The detailed growth characteristics of SF6 hydrate crystals were discussed in this study.

  • 세계 각국은 온실가스 배출을 줄이기 위하여 활발한 노력을 하고 있다. 한국도 노후화된 석탄발전을 폐지하고 LNG 발전으로 전환하는 정책을 추진하고 있다. 그러나, 한국은 가스터빈 제작 기술이 국산화되지 않아서 해외 제작사로부터 전량 수입하여 설치하고 있다. 따라서, 본 논고에서는 가스터빈 발전산업에 대한 국내·외 환경을 살펴보고, 이를 기반으로 PEST-SWOT-AHP 방법론을 적용하여 한국형 가스터빈 기술개발 및 보급 확대 추진전략을 제안하였다. 연구결과, 한국형 가스터빈 기술개발과 보급 확대 전략은 1) 가스터빈 기술개발 및 사업화 촉진을 위한 발전공기업의 역할 강화, 2) 온실가스 감축을 위한 LNG 발전 비중 확대, 3) 정부의 적극적인 가스터빈 산업 생태계 조성 노력, 4) LNG 발전소 건설에 대한 국민 공감대 형성 등으로 요약할 수 있다.

자동차 배기가스 측정을 위한 매연프로브 효율 개선에 관한 연구 (Improvement of Soot Probe Efficiency for Automotive Emission Measurement)

  • Cars are inspected in the transport sector for their ability to achieve the greenhouse gas reduction targets. A vehicle (automobile) inspection broadly consists of regular and total checks, and both the safety level and the amount of exhaust gas are checked simultaneously during a vehicle inspection. This study deals with the efficiency of a soot probe to measure soot emissions from diesel vehicles. When the vehicle exhaust gas measurement is performed, there may be a difference between the exhaust gas temperature and the soot suction amount because of the different shape and angle of the exhaust port for each vehicle type. This may result in some incidents where the correct inspection nonconforming vehicle is not selected. Therefore, in this study, the shape of the probe was improved to increase the soot measurement efficiency under the condition of the exhaust pipe angle change.

  • Gas hydrates are ice-l ike sol id compounds that are composed of water and natural gas. All common gas hydrates belong to the three crystal structures that are composed of five polyhedral cavities formed by hydrogen bonded water molecules and stable in specific high pressure and low temperature conditions. Gas hydrates contain large amounts of organic carbon and widely occur in deep oceans and permafrost regions, and they may therefore represent a potential energy resource in the future. United States and Japan perform the national R&D programs for the commercial production of gas hydrates in 2010's. The study on gas hydrates are also important for exploration and development of natural gas in the regions where gas hydrates are accumulated and could be formed. Although their global abundance is debated, they play an important role in global climate change since methane is a 50 times more effect ive greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. Natural gas hydrates also form a possible natural hazard if rapidly dissociated and can cause slides and slumps and in the marine environment associated tsunamis.

  • Environmental impact assessment techniques have been developed as a result of the worldwide efforts to reduce the environmental impact of global warming. By using the quantification method in the construction industry, it is now possible to manage the greenhouse gas is to systematically evaluate the impact on the environment over the entire construction process. In particular, the proportion of greenhouse gas emissions at the production stage of construction material occupied is high, and efforts are needed in the construction field. In this study, intended for concrete products for the construction materials, by using the LCA evaluation method, we compared the results of environmental impact assessment and carbon emissions of developing products that have been applied low-carbon technologies compared to existing products. As a result, by introducing a raw material of industrial waste, showed carbon reduction. Through a comparison of the carbon emission reduction effect of low-carbon technologies, it is intended to provide academic data for the evaluation of greenhouse gases in the construction sector and the development of low-carbon technologies of the future.

전과정평가 방법에 의한 외끌이 대형기선저인망 어업의 온실 가스 배출량의 정량적 분석 (A Quantitative Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from the Danish Seine Fishery using Life Cycle Assessment)

  • The fishing industry has a negative effect on the environment due to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with the high use of fossil fuels, the destruction of underwater ecosystems by bottom trawls, reduction in resources by fishing, and altered ecosystem diversity. GHG emissions from fisheries were discussed at the Canc$\acute{u}$n meeting in Mexico in 1992 and are part of the Kyoto protocol in 2005. However, few studies have investigated the GHG emissions from Korean fisheries. To find a way to reduce GHG emissions from fisheries, quantitative analysis of GHG emissions from the Korean fishery industry is needed. Therefore, this study investigated the GHG emissions from the Korean Danish seine fishery using the life cycle assessment (LCA) method. The system boundary and input parameters for each process level are defined for the LCA analysis. The fuel-use coefficient of the fishery is also calculated. The GHG emissions from the representative fish caught by the Danish seine fishery are considered and the GHG emissions for the edible weight of fishes are calculated, considering consumption in different areas and different slaughtering processes. The results will help to understand the GHG emissions from Korean fisheries.

Prediction of greenhouse gas emission from municipal solid waste for South Korea

  • This study is proposing a System Dynamics Model for estimating Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission from treating Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) in South Korea for years 2000 to 2030. The government of country decided to decrease the total GHG emission from waste sector in 2030 as per Business-as-usual level. In context, four scenarios are generated to predict GHG emission from treating the MSW with three processes i.e., landfill, incineration and recycling. For prior step, MSW generation rate is projected for present and future case using population and waste generation per capita data. It is found that population and total MSW are directly correlated. The total population will increase to 56.27 million and total MSW will be 21.59 million tons in 2030. The methods for estimating GHG emission from landfill, incineration and recycling are adopted from IPCC, 2006 guidelines. The study indicates that Scenario 2 is best to adopt for decreasing the total GHG emission in future where recycling waste is increased to 75% and landfill waste is decreased to 7.6%. Lastly, it is concluded that choosing proper method for treating the MSW in country can result into savings of GHG emission.
