  • Many researches have been carried out consistently for the green ship owing to its economic increasement, efficiency and convenience. One of them is an electronic controlled marine diesel engine. However, we are suffered from dissemination of above engine, due to its anxiety about safety and reliability. In order to solve these problems in this study, emission characteristics test of main propulsive two-stroke diesel engine, equipped both electronic control and cam drive fuel injection systems, has been performed and evaluated under the various load conditions. From the test results, we have confirmed that exhaust gas emission characteristics of the electronic control system is similar to the cam drive system in eco-mode operation, but NOx in emission mode has been decreased 100ppm or more in full load condition. HC emission from the electronic control system is decreased 10~20ppm at 50% load, and 35~40ppm at 25% load in comparison to cam drive system. In fuel consumption, it is considered that 7g/kWh is decreased than the value of cam drive system at 700bar of injection pressure, which is 200bar higher than cam drive system.

  • The pedestrian signal systems operating presently could provide more time for the pedestrian to cross the street than the previous system, but it would increase the cycle length and cause longer delays at the signalized intersections. For instance, more than 80% of traffic signals would have to have the cycle length increased by 10sec in Daegu Metropolitan areas. Therefore. the purpose of this study is to propose a pedestrian traffic signal time that not only maintains the safety of the pedestrian but also reduces the traffic cycle length. The proposed pedestrian signal time is set to enable enough time for the elderly to cross and the flashing time is set low enough to deter the ordinary person. This new pedestrian signal time can reduce the traffic cycle length at intersections and prevent the Pedestrian crossing during flashing time. In addition to the flashing green should be changed to flashing red to warn the pedestrian he should not begin crossing as opposed to the flashing green which suggest he could cross. In this study, the speed of 1.1m/sec and 0.85m/sec are applied to the new proposed signal time for normal and elderly person respectively after analyzing data collected at Daegu Metropolitan area.

  • Geep-Jang, a kind of soybean paste, was made from vegetables such as egg-plant, green cucumber and green red pepper besides grains, which was fermented at $55{\sim}60^{\circ}C$ incubator or room temperature for a week. In order to determine the effect of cellulolytic enzymes addition on the Geep-Jang processing, samples were taken by 0, 24, 48, 72, 96, 120, and 144 hours interval after first stage, chemical composition were measured and its results obtained as follows: 1. Reducing sugar was rapidly increased from twenty to forty hours after first stage. 2. Large contents of reducing sugar at G-5 group might originated from the much quantity of carbohydrate sources and speed up the decomposition of raw materials by cellulolytic enzymes. 3. The different content of reducing sugars between G-1 and G-3 group should stemed from the addition of enzymes solution and it's differences were very remarkable id the case of classic soybean koji power 4. The contents of amino-nitrogen was generally more increased than the classic one(G-2, G-4). 5. Fermentation period of Geep-Jang may reduce by addition of cellulolytic enzymes.

  • The Yakhyeon catholic church (Historic Site No. 252 in Korea) that was constructed in 1892 has been the first western brick structure to ever have existed and one of the most important historical materials in the Korean modern architecture. After a fire had broken out at the catholic church in 1998, the stained glass on the back wall, the slab glass (dalle de verre) introduced by Lee Nam Guy in 1974, was repaired in 1999 because of singe scorch and water leakage. An analysis of the coloration elements showed that yellow, red and green included Zn, K and Cd, respectively. The glass of red contained Se, dark green contained Mn and Cr, and blue contained Pb and S. According to material analysis, the masonry joint was identified dolomite ($CaMg(CO_3)_2$) and calcite ($CaCO_3$), which was observed plate, columnar, rhombic and square of crystalline particles. Meanwhile, ultrasonic velocity in the stained glass recorded low speed in the middle and lower right of the window (an average of 4,130 m/s). And the joint was measured the lowest physical properties of the top left and middle of the window (an average of 2,053 m/s). This study have showed that extensive physical damage was founded to the left and middle rather than the right side. In this respect, more research in needed to conserve the correlation between color and physical properties.

  • In 1997, 180 countries signed the Kyoto Protocol in Kyoto, Japan. The Kyoto Protocol came into force in February 2005. The agreement calls for industrialized nations to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 5 percent from 1990 levels by 2008 to 2012. One of those polices is a modal shift that change from road freight to sea, inland waterway and railroad transportation that is eco-friendly. The increase of road freight brings road congestion, accidents, logistic costs, air pollution and greenhouse gases. Railroads are superior than the other modes of transportation in mass transportability, high speed, timeliness, safety and environmental-friendliness, but the railway industry has been pushed behind in competition. Korean railroads were used by passengers and freight transport popularly until the middle of 20th century, however, by the sudden change of logistics environments, a shaving time efficiency being most important, railroad logistic lost its competitive power against the transportation by truck. From the research which sees consequently investigated a various policy, a system and a law about Chinese logistics industry and present condition of the Chinese goods enterprise and instance analysis of the large Chinese corporation that branch out to undeveloped markets led and a Chinese logistics industry and problem point escape hereafter the heightening of competitiveness plan which is rational under prsenting boil.

  • This study develops a fusion priority signal control algorithm to pass without delay in emergency events. Fusion priority signal control is method combined center control with local control. The center control method applies signal times for each signalized intersection on the emergency vehicle's route when an emergency call is received. As signals are controlled before the emergency vehicle leaves for its destination, it is possible to clear the queues at each intersection more effectively. However, since the traffic information (speed, position) of the real-time emergency vehicle is not used, the intersection arrival time predicted by center control and actual arrival time of the emergency vehicle may be different from each other. In the case, it is possible to experience a delay caused by the signal. Local control method operate priority signal use the real-time information of EV, but there is a limitation that queue elimination time can not be reflected. In this study, fusion(center+local) control algorithm is proposed to compensate the disadvantages of center and local control also maximizing its advantages. Proposed algorithm is expected to decrease delay time of EV in emergency situation.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the ball velocity changes depending on the different linear momentum of putter head. For this study, two different moving conditions(25cm free fall and 35cm free fall) of putter head were set. And two different types of ground conditions were used which are artificial grass green($180cm{\times}600cm{\times}1cm$) and glass green($40cm{\times}130cm{\times}1cm$). Movements of putter head and ball were recorded with 2 HD video cameras(60 Hz, 1/500s shutter speed). Small size control object($18.5cm{\times}18.5cm{\times}78.5cm$) was used in this study. Ball and putter head velocities were calculated by the First Central Difference Method(Hamill & Knutzen, 1995). Linear momentum of ball and putter head were calculated with mass and its velocities. Before impact, the velocity of the putter head of 35cm free fall was about 30% greater than that of the putter head of 25cm free fall. Linear momentum of putter head of 35cm free fall was about 0.355-0.364kg m/s and 25cm free fall was 0.251 kg m/s. After impact, putter head lost its linear momentum about 14-19% and adjusting time of putter head after impact would be 0.1 second. After 0.1 second, putter moved the route same as before impact. Maximum ball velocities were appeared 0.08s-0.10s after impact no matter what the ground conditions are. Ball velocities struck by 35cm free fall were 30 % faster than 25cm free fall. Linear momentum of ball struck by putter head was greater than that of expected amount because the moving ball has translational energy and rotational energy. Future study must treat three things. One is ball must struck by the different putters with different materials. Another is two-piece ball and three-piece ball should be used for the same condition studies. The other is height of center of rotation of club should be changed. In this study, the height of center of rotation of club head is 71cm from the ground. But recently many golfers used the long putter. Therefore next study should apply the different height of center of rotation of club head.

  • This study aimed at optimizing the manufacturing conditions of a milk beverage supplemented with coffee, and monitoring its physicochemical and sensory properties during storage. Raw milk, skim milk powder, coffee extract, and emulsifiers were used to manufacture the beverage. Two sucrose fatty acid esters, F110 and F160, were identified as suitable emulsifiers. The optimum conditions for the beverage manufacture, which can satisfy two conditions at the same time, determined by response surface methodology (RSM), were 5,000 rpm primary homogenization speed and 0.207% sucrose fatty acid emulsifier addition. The particle size and zeta-potential of the beverage under the optimum condition were 190.1 nm and $-25.94{\pm}0.06mV$, respectively. In comparison study between F110 added group (GF110) and F160 added group (GF160) during storage, all samples maintained its pH around 6.6 to 6.7, and there was no significant difference (p<0.05). In addition, GF110 showed significantly higher zeta-potential than GF160 (p<0.05). The particle size of GF110 and GF160 were approximately 190.1 and 223.1 nm, respectively at initial. However, size distribution of the GF160 tended to increase during storage. Moreover, increase of the particle size in GF160 was observed in microphotographs of it during storage. The $L^*$ values gradually decreased within all groups, whereas the $a^*$ and $b^*$ values did not show significant variations (p<0.05). Compared with GF160, bitterness, floating cream, and rancid flavor were more pronounced in the GF110. Based on the result obtained from the present study, it appears that the sucrose fatty acid ester F110 is more suitable emulsifier when it comes to manufacturing this beverage than the F160, and also contributes to extending product shelf-life.

  • The IoT (Internet of Things) technology is rapidly becoming an important consideration in many engineering fields in the current 4th industrial era. In recent years, the concepts of digital shipbuilding and smart factories have been adopted as trends in shipyards. However, there is active interest in research on implementing autonomous driving in autonomous vehicles and airplanes, which is currently available in commercial form in a limited capacity. The present study is regarding the path-tracking performance of a boat to accomplish an autonomous driving mission using a flight controller (FC) and real-time kinematic (RTK) global positioning system (GPS) based on an open-source Ardupilot; an actual sea test is also performed using this system on a calm lake. The boat's mission is to evaluate the maneuverability of the self-driving process to a specific point and returning to the home position. For a given speed, the difference between the preset mission trajectory and actual operational trajectory was analyzed, and a series of studies were conducted on the applicability of the system to ships. In addition, the movements and maneuverability of the OmniX-type hull with four propellers were investigated, and the driving path-tracking performance was observed to increase by a maximum of 48%.

  • Microfluidic reactors have been made to achieve significant development for the generation of new functional materials to apply in a variety of fields. Over the last decade, microfluidic reactors have attracted attention as a user-friendly approach that is enabled to control physicochemical parameters such as size, shape, composition, and surface property. Here, we develop a centrifugal microfluidic reactor that can control the flow of fluid based on centrifugal force and generate multifunctional particles of various sizes and compositions. A centrifugal microfluidic reactor is fabricated by combining microneedles, micro- centrifuge tubes, and conical tubes, which are easily obtained in the laboratory. Depending on the experimental control param- eters, including centrifuge rotation speed, alginate concentration, calcium ion concentration, and distance from the needle to the calcium aqueous solution, this strategy not only enables the generation of size-controlled microparticles in a simple and reproducible manner but also achieves scalable production without the use of complicated skills or advanced equipment. Therefore, we believe that this simple strategy could serve as an on-demand platform for a wide range of industrial and academic applications, particularly for the development of advanced smart materials with new functionalities in biomedical engineering.
