A computer simulation technique for 2-dimensional laser generated ultrasonic waves was developed for visualization and investigation of ultrasonic propagation in solids. The technique is similar to a finite difference method (FDM) and a mass-particle model method, but uses a new nodal calculation method based on fundamental consideration of an elastic wave equation. By this method, the propagation behavior oflaser generated ultrasonic wave in thermoelastic and ablation mode is visualized and shows good agreement with previous experimental result or the numerical analysis result by Green function.

The heavy equipment such as tracter has been studied to improve rather the performance of engine than comfort. The mufflers of tracters have various specifications according to their uses. The exact analysis of various mufflers is needed to reduce the level of exhaust moise, a major noise source of engine, to improve the ride quality of tracter. In this study, a software based on Green's function is developed to predict the performance of sound transmission loss for a muffler according to the locations of inlet/outlet pipes. The locations of inlet and outlet pipes can be fixed at different position individually. The conventional muffler has the locations of inlet/outlet pipes on the direction of longitudinal axes. On other hand, the inlet and outlet pipes may be located at the circumferential surface of a test muffler such as one of tracter. The software is verified by analysis and experiment on current muffler of tracter and the improvement technique is proposed to reduce the level of exhaust noise.

Dirichlet boundary value problems originated from unsteady deep water wave propagation are transformed to Boundary Intergral Equation Methods by use of a free surface Green's function and the integral equations are discretized by a cubic spline element method. In order to enhance the stability of the numerical model based on the derived Fredholm integral equation of 1 st kind, the method by Hsiao and MacCamy (1973) is employed. The numerical model is tested against exact solutions for two cases and the model shows very good accuracy.

Green water load is an important parameter to be considered in designing a modern ship or offshore structures like FPSO and FSRU. In this research, a numerical simulation method for green water phenomenon is introduced. The Navier-Stokes equations and the continuity equation are used as governing equations. The equations are calculated using Finite Difference Method(FDM) in rectangular staggered grid system. To increase the numerical accuracy near the body, the Cartesian cut cell method is employed. The nonlinear free-surface during green water incident is defined by Marker-density method. The green waters on a box in regular waves are simulated. The simulation results are compared with other experimental and computational results for verification. To check the applicability to moving ship, the green water of the ship which is towed by uniform force in regular wave, is simulated. The ship is set free to heave and to surge.

In this paper, we design a green supply chain (gSC) network model. For constructing the gSC network model, environmental and economic factors are taken into consideration in it. Environmental factor is to minimize the $CO_2$ emission amount emitted when transporting products or materials between each stage. For economic factor, the total cost which is composed of total transportation cost, total handling cost and total fixed cost is minimized. To minimize the environmental and economic factors simultaneously, a mathematical formulation is proposed and it is implemented in a genetic algorithm (GA) approach. In numerical experiment, some scales of the gSC network model is presented and its performance is analyzed using the GA approach. Finally, the efficiencies of the gSC network model and the GA approach are proved.

In analysis of underground structures, the effects of artificial boundary conditions are considered as one of the major reasons for differences from experimental results. These phenomena can be overcome by using the boundary elements which satisfy the multi-layered half space conditions. The fundamental solutions of multi-layered half-space for boundary element method is formulated satisfying the transmission and reflection of waves at each layer interface and radiation conditions at bottom layer. The governing equations can be obtained from the displacements at each layer which are expressed in terms of harmonic functions. All types of waves can be included using the complete response from semi-infinite integrals with respect to horizontal wavenumbers using expansion of Fourier series and Hankel transformation. Two dimensional Green's functions are derived from cylindrical Navier equations and potentials performing infinite integration in y-direction. In this case, it is effective to transform into two dimensional problem using semi-analytical integration and sinusoidal Bessel function. Some verifications are given to show the accuracy and efficiency of the developed method, and numerical examples to demonstrate the dynamic behavior of underground with various properties.

When analyzing the scatting problem of multi-layered planar structures using closed-form Green's function, one of the main difficulties is that the numerical integrations for the evaluation of diagonal matrix elements converge slowly and are not so stable. Accordingly, even when the integration fur the singularity of type $e^{-jkr}/{\gamma}$, corresponding to the source dipole itself, is performed using such a method, this difficulty persists in the integration corresponding to the finite number of complex images. In order to resolve this difficulty, a new technique based upon the Gaussian quadrature in polar coordinates for the evaluation of the two-dimensional generalized exponential integral is presented. Stability of the algorithm and convergence is discussed. Performance is demonstrated for the example of a microstrip patch antenna.

An approach is presented for efficient numerical integration of the Sormnerfeld type integrals pertinent to the microstrip surface Green's function arising in the problem of an electric current point source on an infinite planar grounded dielectric substrate. This approach, valid for both lossless and lossy dielectric substrates, is based on the deformation of the integration contour via a coordinate transformation and Cauchy's residue theory, and identifies clearly the effects of surface waves. I ts useful application is in a rigorous moment method analysis of micros trip antenna arrays and microstrip guided wave structures. The efficiency and the usefulness of the present approach are emphasized through some numerical calculations of the impedance matrix elements with associated CPU times.

This paper proposes an exact numerical method for analyzing a dipole antenna attached on a dielectric slab. A Green's function for an infinitesimal current filament on a dielectric slab is derived and a field integral equation is formulated using a boundary condition. The moment Method is used to solve the field integral equation to otain current distribution on the antenna. Since an asymptotic function is used to compute the impedance matrix elements, the computataion time is significantly reduced. Using the computed current distributions, the input impedances, the resonance lengths and the resonant resistances of the antennas for various values of the thichnessandthe dielectric constant of the slab are obtained. It was found that the resonant length and the resonant resistance are decrease monotonically as the dielectric constant increases, however, those are changed up-and-down as the substrate thickness increases.

Oscillating wave amplitude in a bottom-mounted OWC chamber designed for wave energy converter is investigated by applying characteristic wave conditions in Korean coastal water. The effects of shape parameters of OWC chamber in a view of wave energy absorbing capability are analyzed. Both experimental and numerical approaches are adopted and their results are compared to optimize the shape parameters which can result in a maximum power production under given wave distribution. The experiment was carried out in a wave flume under 2-D assumption of OWC chamber. The numerical scheme employed a hybrid Green integral equation which adopts the Rankine Green function inside chamber to take account of fluctuating air pressure, while it uses the Kelvin Green function in outer domain. Air duct diameter, chamber width, and submerged depths of front skirt and back wall of chamber changes the magnitude and peak frequency of wave absorption significantly.
