A two-dimensional treatment of the potential distribution under the depletion approximation is presented for poly-crystalline silicon thin film transistors. Green's function approach is adopted to solve the two-dimensional Poisson's equation. The solution for the potential distribution is derived using Neumann's boundary condition at the silicon-silicon di-oxide interface. The developed model gives insight into device behavior due to the effects of traps and grain-boundaries. Also short-channel effects and drain induced barrier lowering effects are incorporated in the model. The potential distribution and electric field variation with various device parameters is shown. An analysis of threshold voltage is also presented. The results obtained show good agreement with simulated results and numerical modeling based on the finite difference method, thus demonstrating the validity of our model.

Three dimensional linear transient wave propagation over a constant depth is presented using Green's function method. Present solution is proved to be a more general solution from which the existing solutions are obtained by using the appropriate assumptions. The effect of dispersion on wave height attenuation is shown and discussed on the numerical results of the solution.

Simulation of the target-scattered echo requires the understanding of scattering mechanism at the highlight points. In this paper, the basic assumption of Highlight Model is reviewed through the analyzed data obtained in the acoustic water tank experiment. The analysis shows that the scattering mechanism involves pulse elongation and frequency shift as elements of target-scattered echo, and that the internal structures affect the temporal response of the target-scattered echo significantly. The band-limited impulse response or Green's function due to the diffraction from highlight points of internal structures is not mere delta function, but acts like a filter, which causes frequency shift and is elongated in time.
An attempt has been made here to study the propagation of SH-type surface waves in an elastic medium, which is initially stressed and heterogeneous and has a point source inside the medium. The upper portion of the composite medium is a sandy layer. It is situated on an initially stressed heterogeneous half-space, whose density, rigidity and internal friction are function of depth. The analysis has been carried out by using Fourier transform and Green's function approach. The phase velocity has been investigated for several particular situations. It has been shown that the results of the study agree with those the case of Love wave propagation in a homogeneous medium in the absence of the sandy layer, when the initial stress is absent. In order to illustrate the validity of the analysis presented here, the derived analytical expression has been computed numerically, by considering an illustrative example and the variances of the concerned physical variables have been presented graphically. It is observed that the velocity of shear wave is amply influenced by the initial stress and heterogeneity parameters and the presence of the sandy layer. The study has an important bearing on investigations of different problems in the earth's interior and also in seismological studies.

As a solution to environmental issues, such as climate change response, the carbon neutrality strategy, urban heat islands, fine dust, and biodiversity enhancement, the value of urban green spaces and trees are becoming important, and various studies dealing with the effects of trees for environmental improvement are being conducted. This study comprehensively considers the preceding studies on planting tree species, planting structure, planting density, and planting base to propose a direction for the planting renewal of green areas in urban parks and applies the findings to a renewal plan to improve the urban environment through landscaping trees. A field survey was conducted on the planting status of Seoul Children's Grand Park, a large-scale neighborhood park in Seoul, and based on the survey data, a planting function evaluation was conducted, and areas needing improvement in planting function were identified. The planting function evaluation was carried out considering the park function setting, planting concept according to spatial function, and planting status. As a result of the study, the direction of planting renewal according to functional change was derived for each stage of planting function evaluation. Increasing the green area ratio is a priority in setting up park functions, but user convenience should also be considered. As a concept of planting, visual landscape planting involves planting species with beautiful tree shapes, high carbon absorption, and fine dust reduction effects. Ecological landscape planting should create a multi-layered planting site on a slope. Buffer planting should be created as multi-layered forests to improve carbon absorption and fine dust reduction effects. Green planting should consist of broad-leaved trees and herbaceous layers and aim for the natural planting of herbaceous species. For plant species, species with high urban environment improvement effects, local native species, and wild bird preferred species should be selected. As for the planting structure, landscape planting sites and green planting sites should be composed of trees, shrubs, and trees and herbaceous layers that emphasize ecology or require multi-layered buffer functions. A higher standard is applied based on the planting interval for planting density. Installing a rainwater recycling facility and using soil loam for the planting base improves performance. The results of this study are meaningful in that they can be applied to derive areas needing functional improvement by performing planting function evaluation when planning planting renewal of aging urban parks and can suggest renewal directions that reflect the paradigm of functional change of created green areas.
This study is dedicated to the dynamic elasticity problem for a semi-strip. The semi-strip is loaded by the dynamic load at the center of its short edge. The conditions of fixing are given on the lateral sides of the semi-strip. The initial problem is reduced to one-dimensional problem with the help of Laplace's and Fourier's integral transforms. The one-dimensional boundary problem is formulated as the vector boundary problem in the transform's domain. Its solution is constructed as the superposition of the general solution for the homogeneous vector equation and the partial solution for the inhomogeneous vector equation. The matrix differential calculation is used for the deriving of the general solution. The partial solution is constructed with the help of Green's matrix-function, which is searched as the bilinear expansion. The case of steady-state oscillations is considered. The problem is reduced to the solving of the singular integral equation. The orthogonalization method is applied for the calculations. The stress state of the semi-strip is investigated for the different values of the frequency.

The objective of this study was to analyze the impact of activation functions on flood forecasting model based on Artificial neural networks (ANNs). The traditional activation functions, the sigmoid and tanh functions, were compared with the functions which have been recently recommended for deep neural networks; the ReLU, leaky ReLU, and ELU functions. The flood forecasting model based on ANNs was designed to predict real-time runoff for 1 to 6-h lead time using the rainfall and runoff data of the past nine hours. The statistical measures such as R2, Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE), Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), the error of peak time (ETp), and the error of peak discharge (EQp) were used to evaluate the model accuracy. The tanh and ELU functions were most accurate with R2=0.97 and RMSE=30.1 (㎥/s) for 1-h lead time and R2=0.56 and RMSE=124.6~124.8 (㎥/s) for 6-h lead time. We also evaluated the learning speed by using the number of epochs that minimizes errors. The sigmoid function had the slowest learning speed due to the 'vanishing gradient problem' and the limited direction of weight update. The learning speed of the ELU function was 1.2 times faster than the tanh function. As a result, the ELU function most effectively improved the accuracy and speed of the ANNs model, so it was determined to be the best activation function for ANNs-based flood forecasting.

Urban parks are important bird habitat in cities. Various studies have evaluated the habitat function of urban parks focused on field surveys. In this study, we performed applicability of NDVI obtained from Landsat 8 OLI image as a factor for spatial planning considered bird diversity. This study was classified with green boundary into three groups using NDVI's value. Environmental variables were calculated by the green area ratio of the surrounding area from 100m to 500m at each groups. The 20 environmental variables such as park area, park shape index, canopy of tree, etc. were derived, the regression analysis was performed as a dependent variable for the bird diversity of urban parks. As a result, the park area and the green area ratio of Group 3, classified high NDVI, within the 100m buffer were adopted as the variables in the regression model. In other words, it was confirmed that as the park becomes larger, the distribution of key green areas within a radius of 100m of the parks becomes higher, the diversity of bird species has increased. It was appropriate to use satellite image, NDVI to analyze species diversity in urban area.

A simple closed form approximation is developed by a new approach presented in this paper for the microstrip surface dyadic Green's function which arises in the problem of an electric current point source on an infinite planar grounded dielectric substrate. This closed form approximation includes the effects of the space wave, the surface wave and their coupling within the transition region near the source, and remains accurate as near as $0.1{\pi}_1$ from the source point for a substrate thickness as large as $0.04{\pi}_1$, where, ${\pi}_1$, is the free space wavelength, This result can significantly facilitate the rigorous moment method analysis of microstrip antenna arrays on relatively this substrates of practical interest. Numerical results illustrating the accuracy of the closed form approximation are presented and CPU times associated with some mutual impedance calculations are also included.

A volume integral equation method(VIEM) is applied for the effective analysis of elastic wave scattering problems in unbounded solids containing general anisotropic inclusions. It should be noted that this newly developed numerical method does not require the Green's function for anisotropic inclusions to solve this class of problems since only the Green's function for the unbounded isotropic matrix is Involved In their formulation for the analysis. nis new method can also be applied to general two-dimensional elastodynamic problems with arbitrary shapes and number of anisotropic inclusions. Through the analysis of plane elastodynamic problems in unbounded isotropic matrix with an orthotropic inclusion, it is established that this new method is very accurate and effective for solving plane elastic problems in unbounded solids containing general anisotropic inclusions.
