  • The problem of managing digital design data including drawings, specifications and other technical data in building design and construction units is a real challenge, especially when there is a need to structure the design information across building design companies. The main difficulty in this information management is the shortage of unified rules (or standards) on how the digital design data should be gathered, archived, and preserved in the most efficient way for building design and construction units. The most important issue, which addressed in this work, is the standardized reference of all design data definitions.

  • This study considers the performance of students in Grades 5 to 10 on four tasks assessing students' ability to evaluate data presented in numerical form, for example, in a list or table, or in graphical form, for example, in a frequency graph or scatter graph. The ability to tell a story from data or a graph is an important aspect of statistical literacy. The samples provide the opportunity to consider the association of two pairs of items, one from each type of interpretation, numerical and graphical. Educational implications for the outcomes and the classroom use of the items are considered.

  • Similar to regression, many measures to detect influential data points in discriminant analysis have been developed. Many follow similar principles as the diagnostic measures used in linear regression in the context of discriminant analysis. Here we focus on the impact on the predicted classification posterior probability when a data point is omitted. The new method is intuitive and easily interpretable compared to existing methods. We also propose a graphical display to show the individual movement of the posterior probability of other data points when a specific data point is omitted. This enables the summaries to capture the overall pattern of the change.

  • We usually use two techniques(influence function and local influence) for detecting outliers. But, we cannot use these difficult techniques in elementary industrial statistics course for college students. We can use some simple graphical methods(box plot, dandelion seed plot, influence graph and cumulative deletion plot) for univariate and bivariate outlier detection and outlier effect in elementary industrial statistics course for college students.

  • We propose an improved version of Kim (2000) to the effect that in principle we may deal with a graphical model of any size. Kim (2000) proposed a method of estimating parameters for a model of categorical variables which is too large to handle as a single model. We applied the proposed method to a simulated data of 158 binary variables.

  • Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves have been frequently used to compare probability models applied to medical problems. Though the curves are a measure of the discriminatory power of a model. they do not reflect the model's accuracy. A supplementary accuracy curve is derived which will be coincident with the ROC curve if the model is reliable. will be above the ROC curve if the model's probabilities are too high or below if they are too low. A clinical example of this new graphical presentation is given.

  • This paper investigates the channel selection problem with dynamic users and the asymmetric interference relation in distributed opportunistic spectrum access systems. Since users transmitting data are based on their traffic demands, they dynamically compete for the channel occupation. Moreover, the heterogeneous interference range leads to asymmetric interference relation. The dynamic users and asymmetric interference relation bring about new challenges such as dynamic random systems and poor fairness. In this article, we will focus on maximizing the tradeoff between the achievable utility and access cost of each user, formulate the channel selection problem as a directional graphical game and prove it as an exact potential game presenting at least one pure Nash equilibrium point. We show that the best NE point maximizes both the personal and system utility, and employ the stochastic learning approach algorithm for achieving the best NE point. Simulation results show that the algorithm converges, presents near-optimal performance and good fairness, and the directional graphical model improves the systems throughput performance in different asymmetric level systems.

  • DNA sequencing has resulted in an abundance of data on DNA sequences for various species. Hence, the characterization and comparison of sequences become more important but still difficult tasks. In this paper, we first give a 2-D ladderlike graphical representation for the characteristic sequences of a DNA sequence, and then construct a 3-component vector, in which the normalized ALE-indices extracted from such three 2-D graphs via D/D matrices are individual components, to characterize the DNA sequence. The examination of similarities/dissimilarities among sequences of the $\beta$-globin genes of different species illustrates the utility of the approach.
