The etiology of vocal fold granuloma was identified : post-endotracheal intubation, vocal abuse, acid reflux and idiopathic. The identification of the cause or causal factor is important, since the treatment must be fundamental directed at them. Treatment have included voice therapy and antireflux measures. Surgical excision is considered in patients who do not respond to medical management. In this study, a case of vocal fold granuloma resolved who underwent injection of the affected vocal fold. Botulinum toxin type A is probably successful by decreasing the strength during adduction in the arytenoid region which, when very intense, would perpetuate the granuloma. Localized injection of this neurotoxin is promising both as an initial treatment and as an alternative treatment in patients who do not respond to standard therapy.
A nine-month-old male ostrich (Struthio camelus) exhibited loss of appetite and dyspnea for 10 days, followed by emaciation and death. Grossly, multiple white nodules measuring 1-3 mm in diameter were observed in the surface of and inside of the lung and in the mucosa of the air sac. Microscopically, the granuloma formations were observed in the lung and air sac. The core of granuloma consisted mainly of macrophages and fibroblasts. The thin layer comprising the giant cells and macrophages surrounded the granuloma. By Periodic acid Schiff reaction, mycelia were detected especially in the core of granuloma. From the present results, the causative agent inducing the death of an ostrich was thought to be Aspergillus sp. This is the first report of the occurrence of acute Aspergillus pneumonia (brooder pneumonia) in an adult male ostrich in Korea.
A gingival mass was detected from a 1-year-old female Great Dane dog. After surgical removal, the lesions recurred in 2 weeks and died of septicemia. Characteristic histologic features were large numbers of multinucleated giant cells which were connected with capillary vessels. Neovascularization was prominent with mononuclear and polynuclear cell infiltration. Overall features of these lesions except for giant cell infiltration were similar to granuloma. From these results, a gingival mass excised from a dog was diagnosed to be a peripheral giant cell granuloma (PGCG). This is the first report of canine subcutaneous PGCG in Korea.

The authors observed, in the routine roentgenographic examination, a rare case of Giant cell Reparative Granuloma found in the mandible of woman 23 years of age who had visited Infirmary of Dental College, Seoul National University' because of the traffic accident. In the serial roentgenograms, Authors had obtained the result as follows; 1. Giant cell Reparative Granuloma occurred below the 20 years of age, and occurred in mandible of female. 2. In roentgenograms, it figures the radiolucent lesion with multilocular apperance. 3. The growing process of Giant cell Reparative Granuloma is not by the neoplastic reaction, but by the local reparative reaction.

A three years old male Jackass penguin(Spheniscus demersus) showed anorexia, depression, respiratory problem for a few days, followed by clinical treatment for 20 days resulted in death. Grossly, multiple white nodules measuring 2~3 mm in diameter were observed in the surface of and inside lung, liver, kidney, thoracic wall. Microscopically, granuloma formations were observed in the lung and liver. The margin of granuloma surrounded by connective tissue barrier and infiltrated lymphocytes, and also observed giant cell near the granuloma. By Periodic acid Schiff reaction, hyphae were detected in granuloma of lung and liver. This case was a chronic and systemic aspergillosis caused by Aspergillus fumigatus infection in a Jackass penguin at a zoo.
Cholesterol granuloma is a disease in which cholesterol crystals act as a foreign substance in the surrounding tissues and cause granulomatous reaction and fibrosis within the chamber. It is found in various locations of the body, but the most common location is the temporal bone associated with middle ear disease. Because the disease is associated with breathing disturbance, it may also occur in the paranasal sinus. However, it has been rarely reported since its first report by Graham and Michaels in 1978. Recently, we experienced a case of cholesterol granuloma of the right maxillary sinus of a 63-year-old female patient without any nasal symptoms. We successfully managed this case with Caldwell-Luc operation. Also, we summarized the cases of cholesterol granuloma of the sinonasal region reported in Korea.

Fungal balls consist of rounded conglomerates of fungal mycelia, which can form within a preexisting cavity. They are mostly found in the paranasal sinuses in the head and neck regions. Cholesterol granuloma is a fibrotic lesion that develops as a tissue response to a foreign body such as cholesterol crystals or hemosiderin and is often associated with chronic otitis media. We present the unusual case of a 62-year-old male who was treated for chronic otitis media, which was histologically confirmed as a fungal ball and cholesterol granuloma in the middle ear cavity following tympanomastoidectomy. This is the first reported case of synchronous fungal ball and cholesterol granuloma in the middle ear cavity.

Eosinophilic granuloma is a common expression of Langerhans cell histiocytosis and corresponds with typical bone lesions. The radiographic appearance of eosinophilic granuloma in the jaw is variable and not specific. It may resemble periodontitis, radicular cyst, or malignancies. The purpose of this report is to describe the characteristic radiographic features of eosinophilic granuloma of a 39-year-old male. The lesion in the anterior mandible was first diagnosed as radicular cyst because the radiographic findings were ovoid radiolucent lesion with well-defined border. However, careful interpretation revealed a non-corticated border and floating tooth appearance that were the characteristic radiographic features for the differential diagnosis. Early clinical signs of eosinophilic granuloma can occur in the jaw and a bony destructive lesion might be mistaken for periodontitis or an odontogenic cystic lesion; therefore, careful interpretation of radiographs should be emphasized.
Laryngeal granuloma following endotracheal anesthesia was reported as traumatic granuloma of the larynx by Clausen in 1932. Thereafter Harrison reported that 4% of the intubated cases developed larynx and upper respiratory tract injuries and 1% of the above mentioned injured cases later developed laryngeal granuloma with symptoms including voice change and even dyspnea in severe cases. The endotracheal intubation has been wedely used for general anesthesia or patency of the air way .and the reported cases of the laryngal granuloma Fig. 5. as its complication have been increased in number worldwidely. For a year from March 1975 to Feb. 1976, the authors have experienced the nine cases of laryngeal granuloma in our department and this is the report of clinical findings on these cases along with literature review.
