  • Strategies have to be employed in information systems security in order to build and operate systems for information systems security in effective and structured manner. It is also essential for the entire organization to participate for successful implementation of the strategies and making them work. Current researches on information systems security strategy in organizations, however, have mainly been focused on deployment and operation of countermeasures based on strategic thinking and decision. In consequence, it is lack of research on overall frame for containing consideration factors required for moving and leading the whole enterprise for the holistic security purpose. Therefore, this paper proposes a framework for use in establishment of organization-wide information systems security strategies based on the concept of grand strategy from the traditional strategy research and on the four dimensional features of it.

  • Space transformation of hospital architecture happens more rapidly than other types such as school and office buildings. This requirement is caused by medical demand, service transformation, technical development and equipment changes. Grand scale extension and rapid change in hospital architecture affects whole planning; therefore, it is important to design in the macro perspective such like Life Cycle. Grand scale extension is difficult process to rebuild growth and transfer of hospital architecture and to adapt to the future change. That's why simple planning gives limits to some departments in a short-term and brings another reform such as more extension or interior renovation in a long-term. This study surveys various space transformation and grand scale extension of EB hospital extended recently, and it is to find planning condition in extension.

The Myung-Il Market, one of traditional markets near the Gang-Dong Homeplus was selected for this research. In our research including the survey from the 63 purchasers' samples of Myung-Il traditional Market, the policy to strengthen the traditional market's ability was suggested to use the price and hygiene factors which affecting on the customers' satisfaction significantly. And the other complementary stategic factors, service and geographical area factors, were induced which were significantly relating to the 100 samples of purchasers at Gang-Dong Homeplus as the grand modern market. Therefore this research suggests the maintaining and enhancement strategy related to price and the hygiene factors should be impressed on the preferential basis for revitalization the traditional markets. And the other strategy which including service and geographical area factors as from the grand modern market's survey result will be considerated complementarily.

  • Based on the existing OFDI (outward foreign direct investment) literature, this study endeavored to verify how the corruption of host countries affects the partner strategy of EMNEs (emerging multinational enterprises) when EMNEs enter global markets through joint ventures. Following the existing literature, this study classified corruption and partner strategies into two categories, respectively. First, the corruption of host country was divided into grand corruption and petty corruption. Second, EMNEs' joint venture partner strategy was divided into home country partner joint venture and host country (i.e., local) partner joint venture. Our hypothesis suggested that the greater the host country's grand corruption, the more EMNEs would choose the host country partner, while the strong petty corruption leads to the preference of home country partner in host country. The hypotheses were verified with a sample of 890 foreign direct investment cases of Chinese multinational companies from 2005 to 2015. As a result of the study, regardless of the degree of corruption, it was found that they prefer joint ventures with home country partners when EMNEs enter the global market through joint ventures.

  • With an increases in income levels and the establishment of a five-day workweek, the number of passengers using international passenger terminals around the world continues to grow every year. However, previous researches on port sector have focused on cargo, and neglected the study on the passenger attraction strategy of the international passenger terminal. Maximizing passenger attraction strategy of the international passenger terminal requires establishing and operating the port marketing strategy, which reflects port characteristics and the tourism marketing strategy, which reflects the hinterland characteristics in an integrated approach. Therefore, the study presents a marketing mix strategy for Daesan International Passenger Terminal based on existing literatures, and a tourism marketing strategy for Seosan city based on the "6A" factor. Recommendations for the Daesan Port include the grand image improvement strategy of Seosan city, utilization of marine tourism resources and development of various tourism products linked to the neighboring areas.

  • Right after president Keun-Hae Park's announcement at German Dresden on March 2014, both expectation and skepticism have been raised for the Korean unification. The unification would give a great chance for the economic prosperity in the positive sense. In the negative sense, it would only give a great burden to the Republic's financial status. Comparing the expectation of the unification, there are lack of structured preparation, duplicated and/or overlapped systematic approach, and even the national strategies are diffused. There are several individual research papers, analytical data and information, researches on the industry and technology. However most of the previous researches and findings are unstructured and lack of completeness. It is hard to find out the overall feature of the unification strategy. West German has compassed that it knew very few the reality of East German status. The Korean Government may know much less about North Korea's condition comparing to West German. Before the actual unification in the Korean peninsula, it needs the Grand Plan for the national infrastructure and land utilization of the Korean peninsula. During the development of the Grand Plan for the Korean peninsula, the Asian Global transportation network could be developed at the same time. The German's unification experience can give a great opportunity to the development of the Gran Plan. The data and information, and the previous researches should be classified and structured in a way of systematic arrangement. Since most of investment and budget for the unification come from the Korea, it would be very much beneficial for the Korean people. The openness and early exposures of the Grand Plan for the national infrastructure are considered as mandatory action.

  • Evolutionary acquisition is an alternative to the grand design acquisition approaches. It has activities to make it possible to develop quickly and respond flexibly to changing customer needs and technological opportunities. The Ministry of Defense adopted an evolutionary strategy to acquire defense information systems. but it does not work well always. We look at problems from aspects of acquisition system and project management. We benchmark successful cases for evolutionary acquisition strategy in the DoD, the pubic and the private sector. We suggest an evolutionary strategy for defense information systems. The evolutionary strategy in this study includes an evolutionary acquisition framework, an evolutionary acquisition process, and an evolutionary acquisition guideline for defense information systems. The evolutionary strategy can help to implement evolutionary acquisition process for defense information system, and the process can increase the success rate of projects.

  • Background: Inactivated vaccines are limited in preventing foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) due to safety problems. Recombinant virus-like particles (VLPs) are an excellent candidate for a novel vaccine for preventing FMD, given that VLPs have similar immunogenicity as natural viruses and are replication- and infection-incompetent. Objectives: The 3C protease and P1 polyprotein of type O FMD virus (FDMV) was expressed in yeast Hansenula polymorpha to generate self-resembling VLPs, and the potential of recombinant VLPs as an FMD vaccine was evaluated. Methods: BALB/c mice were immunized with recombinant purified VLPs using CpG oligodeoxynucleotide and aluminum hydroxide gel as an adjuvant. Cytokines and lymphocytes from serum and spleen were analyzed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, enzyme-linked immunospot assay, and flow cytometry. Results: The VLPs of FMD were purified successfully from yeast protein with a diameter of approximately 25 nm. The immunization of mice showed that animals produced high levels of FMDV antibodies and a higher level of antibodies for a longer time. In addition, higher levels of interferon-γ and CD4+ T cells were observed in mice immunized with VLPs. Conclusions: The expression of VLPs of FMD in H. polymorpha provides a novel strategy for the generation of the FMDV vaccine.

  • The primary health care(PHC) movement officially began in 1977 when the 30th World Health Oranization(WHO) Assembly adopted a resolution accepting the goal of attaining a level of health that permitted all citizens of the world to live socially and economically productive lives. As a WHO member nation, Korea has endorsed primary health care as a strategy for achieving the goal of Health For All by the Year 2000. However, PHC, with its empasis on broad strategies, community participation, self reliance, and a multidisciplinary health care delivary team, is not the primary strategy for improving the of Korean. The Neuman's systems model has been described as a grand nursing theory. A grand nursing theory consists of a comprehensive conceptual framework that defines broad perspectives for practice. This model is an example of a conceptual framework that provides structure for development and analysis of an individual or group of patients in the community or in an oranization. One of the model's strength is that it can be useed ina variey of setting. So The Neuman's model is used a nursing process format for community health nursing. The Neuman's model is fully congruent with concept and philosophy of today's PHC.

  • North Korea's development and deployment of nuclear weapons increases Pyongyang's diplomatic bargaining leverage. It is a strategic response to counteract the great expansion in US leverage with the collapse of the USSR. Post-Cold War American influence and hegemony is justified partly by claiming victory in successfully containing an allegedly imperialist Soviet Union. The US created and led formal and informal international institutions as part of its decades-long containment grand strategy against the USSR. The US now exploits these institutions to expedite US unilateral global preeminence. Third World regimes perceived as remnants of the Cold War era that resist accommodating to American demands are stereotyped as rogue states. Rogue regimes are criminal offenders who should be brought to justice, i.e. regime change is required. The initiation of summit diplomacy between US President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un occurred following the January 2018 Hawaiian ballistic missile false alarm. This event and its political consequences illustrate the efficacy of nuclear weapons as bargaining leverage for so-called rogue actors. North Korea is highly unlikely to surrender those weapons that were the instigation for the subsequent summit diplomacy that occurred. A broader, critical trend-focused strategic analysis is necessary to adopt a longer-term view of the on-going Korean nuclear crisis. The aim would be to conceptualize long-term policies that increase the probability that nuclear weapons capability becomes a largely irrelevant issue in interaction between Pyongyang, Seoul, Beijing and Washington.
