Literature had been at center-stage in the traditional grammar-translation-focused English classrooms up to the mid-twentieth century. As the Audiolingual Method and the Communicative Language Teaching have gained popularity in the English classrooms, however, literature has receded into the background of English education. The main reasons for using literary texts in the English classrooms for communication-focused English instruction need to be examined. First of all, students can come in touch with the subtle and varied uses of language through literature-based teaching. They also feel close to certain characters in the literary work and share the emotional reponses with them. They get personally involved in the plot of the story. Universal human experience and cultural enrichment are two other merits which can be conferred on students by literary texts. Such linguistic and literary experiences can be significantly integrated into the literature-based instruction. More significantly, the four language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) can be combined with one another and integrated into a literature-focused curriculum for English education. The value of literary texts in the English classrooms can be clearly demonstrated by effective ways of using such texts as Charlotte's Web for integrated instruction. The full array of benefits that literature can bring to English instruction, however, has yet to be fully realized. These potentials need to be materialized into classroom practice.

본 논문에서는 웹 응용에서 jQuery를 이용한 사용자 인터랙션을 설계하고 구현하는 방법들을 제안하였다. 스마트 기기의 컴퓨팅 능력이 향상되면서 웹 응용 기술이 보편화되고 다양화되었다. 이로 인해 주목받는 웹 기술로서 JavaScript가 있고, 세계적으로 가장 많이 쓰이는 JavaScript 프레임워크가 jQuery이다. jQuery의 기본 문법과 확장성 및 플러그인에 대해 간단히 서술하였다. 사용자 인터랙션과 애니메이션들을 분류하였고, 이를 구현할 수 있는 방법을 서술하였다.

This paper presents an implementation of a gramar of Dynamic Syntax for Japanese. Dynamic Syntax is a grammar formalism which enables a parser to process a sentence in an incremental fashion, establishing the semantic representation. Currently the application of lexical rules and transition rules in Dynamic Syntax is carried out arbitrarily and this leads to inefficient parsing. This paper provides an algorithm of rule application and partitioned parsing state for efficient parsing with special reference to processing Japanese, which is one of head-final languages. At the present stage the parser is still small but can parse scrambled sentences, relative clause constructions, and embedded clauses. The parser is written in Prolog and this paper shows that the parser can process null arguments in a complex sentence in Japanese.

이 연구는 상황에 따라 다양한 의미 기능을 나타내는 추측 표현 중 '-(으)ㄹ 것 같다'와 '-나 보다'를 대상으로 그 의미와 기능을 분석하고 실제 한국어 교육 현장에서 비주얼 씽킹을 적용한 시각화를 통해 전통적인 수업 방법에서 확장하여 보다 효율적으로 추측 표현을 교육할 수 있는 방안에 대해 논의하였다. Visual Thinking'은 '생각의 시각화'인데, 머릿속 지식이나 생각, 느낌 등을 시각적으로 나타내는 것으로 다양한 교육 현장에서 활용 가능한 것이다. 이 비주얼 씽킹을 활용하여 실제 교육 현장에서 교육 내용의 시각적 전달을 통해 학생들의 흥미를 높이고, 메타 언어적 정보 전달의 수업 방식도 보완하고자 하였다. 이 연구의 대상인 추측 표현은 화자의 어떤 일이나 상황에 대한 추측을 나타내는데, 추측의 근거와 추측의 주체 등에 따라 그 의미에 미세한 차이가 있다. 다양한 상황에서 미세한 의미 차이를 보이는 추측 표현을 정보나 지식의 시각화를 통해 교수-학습의 다변화 및 효율성을 높일 수 있는 교육 방안을 제안하였다. 비주얼 씽킹을 언어 교육에 활용하게 되면 언어 지식의 시각화를 통해 언어 정보를 단순화해서 제공할 수 있고 학습자들은 언어 지식을 정리하고 체계화하는 데 효율적일 수 있다. 또한 언어 지식의 시각화를 통해 언어 정보를 장기기억 할 수 있는 장점도 있다. 한국어 교육 현장에서 적용해 볼 수 있는 다양한 교육 방법의 시도는 좀 더 체계적이고 효율적인 교육 방법을 정립하는 데 기여할 수 있는데, 이 연구에서 제안한 비주얼 씽킹을 적용한 한국어 교육 방안은 유학생들의 한국어 학습에 또 다른 흥미와 효율성을 줄 수 있다는 데에 의의가 있다고 하겠다.

교육 현장에서 프로그래밍 교육은 고등 사고력 향상을 위한 학습보다는 프로그래밍의 개념이나 기초 문법의 주입 및 단순 반복으로 진행되고 있다. 따라서 학습자들이 프로그래밍 교육에 대해 긍정적인 흥미를 가지고 적극 참여하여 교육적인 효과를 거둘 수 있는 새로운 프로그래밍 교육 방안에 대한 모색이 필요하다. 스크래치 EPL(Educational Programming Languages)은 블록 쌓기를 통해 프로그래밍이 가능한 직관적인 언어로 초등학생들도 보다 쉽게 프로그래밍을 이해할 수 있다. 스크래치의 이런 특징은 프로그래밍 교육에 대한 학습자의 학습 몰입(Flow)에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 프로그래밍 교육의 새로운 방안으로 스크래치 프로그래밍 교육을 진행하고 초등학생의 학습 몰입과 프로그래밍 능력에 미치는 영향에 대해 검증하고자 한다. 본 연구의 결과 스크래치 프로그래밍 교육이 학습자의 전반적인 학습 몰입 수준 향상에 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 알 수 있다.

본 연구는 블록 코딩을 선행 학습한 학생들에게 적용할 수 있는 Python 교육 프로그램의 개발에 관한 것이다. 우선 초중등학교 교육과정과 EPL 교재의 분석을 통해 블록코딩 학습자의 수준을 분석하고 블록 코딩에서 사용된 개념을 중심으로 Python 문법을 추출하여 교육과정을 구성한 뒤 PBL 수업에 맞는 Python 교육 프로그램을 총 16차시로 개발하였다. Python 교육프로그램의 적절성을 검증하기 위해 2차의 전문가의 타당도 검사를 하였다. 검사 결과, 1차 타당도 24문항에서 CVR값 .78 점 이상으로 나타나 일부 수정, 보완하였다. 2차 검사에서는 21개 문항은 타당성을 확보하였고 CVR 최소값인 .99 이하인 3개 문항의 내용에 대해 수정하여 교육 프로그램을 완성하였다. 개발된 교육 프로그램이 스크립트코딩을 학습하기 위한 기초 자료로 유용하게 활용되길 기대한다.

Education systems throughout the world encourage their students to learn languages other than their native one. In Australia, our Education Boards provide students with the opportunity to learn European and Asian languages. French, German, Chinese and Japanese are the most popular languages studied in elementary and high schools. This choice is a reflection of Australias European heritage and its geographical position near Asia. In most non-English speaking countries, English is the foreign language most readily available to students. In Korea, the English language is actively promoted by the Education Department and, in less official ways, by companies and the public. It is impossible to be anywhere in Korea without seeing the English language alongside or intermingled with Korean. When I ask students why they are learning English, I receive answers that include the word globalization and the importance of English throughout the world. When I press further and ask why they personally are learning English, the students mention passing exams, usually high school tests or TOEIC, and the necessity of passing the latter to obtain a good job. Seldom do I ever hear anything about communication: about the desire to talk with other people in English, to read novels or poetry in English, to understand movies or pop-songs in English, to chat on the Internet in English, to search for information on the Internet in English, or to email pen-pals in English. Yet isnt communication the only valid reason for learning a language? We learn our native language to communicate with those around us. Shouldnt we set the same goal for learning a foreign language? In my opinion communication, whether it is reading and writing or speaking and listening, must be central to language learning. Learning a language to pass examinations is meaningless unless those examinations are a reliable indicator of the ability of the student to communicate. In previous eras, most communication in a foreign language was through reading novels or formal letters. This required a thorough knowledge of grammar and a large vocabulary. Todays communication is much less formal. Telephone conversations, tele-conferences, faxes and emails allow people to communicate regularly and informally. Reading materials are also less formal as popular novels and newspapers are available world-wide. Movies and popular songs have added to the range of informal communication available. Finally travel has ensured that people from different cultures will meet easily and regularly. This informal communication requires less emphasis on grammar and vocabulary and more emphasis on comprehension and confidence to speak. Placing communication central to language learning has important implications for the Education system and for teachers.

프로그래밍 교육은 학생들의 창의력, 문제해결력, 논리적 사고력 향상 등에 긍정적인 영향을 끼친다. 하지만, 프로그래밍을 하기 위해서는 기본 문법과 구조를 이해하고 프로그램을 사용하는 방법을 익히는데 너무 많은 노력을 요구하는 등 문제점을 갖고 있으며, 이로 인해 학습자에게 프로그래밍에 대한 부정적인 인식을 갖게 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 배우기 쉽고, 직관적이며, 학습자의 문제해결력 향상을 도모할 수 있는 교육용 프로그래밍 언어(EPL)인 '스크래치'를 CPS(Creative Problem Solving) 모형을 활용해 적용해봄으로써 중학교 남녀 학습자에게 있어 문제해결력 향상과 프로그래밍 교육에 대한 태도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 단일집단 사전사후 검사를 통해 검증하였다.

The United Kingdom is known for the quality of its qualifications. There is a strict quality system with reputable bodies responsible for ensuring that high quality standards are met. In order for new qualifications to be accredited, they must meet all the requirements set out in the regulations for the quality and informatization of Education. The crucial role of the Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education (QAA) in the UK for creating high-quality management of higher education institutions is revealed, the influence of informatization tools on its effective mechanism as an independent entity is shown, and positive experience for the educational sector is highlighted. While the universities themselves are responsible for reviewing educational programs at the subject level, the QAA review focuses on verifying internal quality assurance, as well as systems and improvement strategies. The QAA uses a peer review process in which teams mostly consist of academic staff from other institutions to assess the quality of the institution's education. In Scotland, the team also includes an international reviewer. The student is also a member of the Scottish teams. In the UK, attention is paid to providing a cohort of experienced reviewers who can conduct high-quality monitoring and help with advice on improving education. All reviewers must complete training and have permission to participate in the review of educational programs. There are selected committees that are members of the QAA council, each of which is headed by a member of the Council or an independent person approved by the Council. Attention is drawn to the main areas of the QAA's work in the framework of environmental, social and corporate governance.

컴퓨터 교육은 기능 중심의 교육에서 창의력과 문제해결력을 신장시킬 수 있는 방향으로 전환되며 프로그래밍이 새롭게 주목받고 있다. 그러나 기존의 프로그래밍 교육은 여전히 문법 위주의 언어 지식 교육에 치우쳐 있어 한계가 있었다. 로봇 프로그래밍은 그 자체가 문제해결과정이며 프로그래밍 결과를 로봇이라는 구체물을 통해 직접 확인할 수 있으므로 학습자들의 흥미와 동기유발에 도움을 줄 수 있다. 그러나 실제 로봇 프로그래밍 교육을 실시해 보면 학습자들이 여러 가지 오류 때문에 어려움에 직면하는 것을 볼 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 로봇 프로그래밍에서 학습자들이 발생시키는 오류들을 유형별로 나누어 분석하고 이를 기초로 오류 해결지원 도구를 개발하였다. 개발된 오류 해결 지원 도구는 발생되는 오류를 감소시키고 오류 해결을 쉽게 할 수 있도록 명령어의 세트화, 언어 및 오류 메시지의 한글화, 학습단계별 예제소스 및 도움말, 주요 코딩 오류 제거기능, 코드정렬 및 행번호 표시 기능 등을 제공하였다. 투입 결과 오류 해결 지원 도구는 오류 감소와 오류 해결에 도움이 됨을 확인할 수 있었다.
