  • This study attempted to present a strategy for operating a university Semiconductor Boot Camp in order to resolve the manpower shortage in semiconductor companies and establish a virtuous cycle of talent development and industrial growth. For this purpose, we conducted a survey and interview with 18 experts in the semi-apprenticeship field and analyzed them. As a result of the analysis, there was a high consensus on the need for boot camps to 'meet the needs of various companies' and 'cultivate talent capable of being deployed in the field', and opinions on the program's goal were 'to provide education to those expected to graduate and graduates majoring in science and engineering through education. The level of agreement was highest for 'strengthening practical capabilities' and 'cultivating professional talent with expert knowledge of each unit process'. The Semiconductor Boot Camp curriculum was found to be most suitable for conducting field practical projects after training in field experience, theory, and practice. This research is expected to be used as a basis for devising a strategy for effectively running the semiconductor field in university education.

  • This study is to investigate how much highschool students, who have learned functional concepts included in the Middle school math curriculum, understand chapters of the function, to analyze the types of errors which they made in solving the mathematical problems and to look for the proper instructional program to prevent or minimize those ones. On the basis of the result of the above examination, it suggests a classification model for teaching-learning methods and teaching material development The result of this study is as follows. First, Students didn't fully understand the fundamental concept of function and they had tendency to approach the mathematical problems relying on their memory. Second, students got accustomed to conventional math problems too much, so they couldn't distinguish new types of mathematical problems from them sometimes and did faulty reasoning in the problem solving process. Finally, it was very common for students to make errors on calculation and to make technical errors in recognizing mathematical symbols in the problem solving process. When students fully understood the mathematical concepts including a definition of function and learned procedural knowledge of them by themselves, they did not repeat the same errors. Also, explaining the functional concept with a graph related to the function did facilitate their understanding,

  • Comparing to the U.S. mathematics textbooks, this study examines the opportunity to learn statistical processes represented in mathematics textbooks reflecting 2015 revised curriculum. Analyzing four different kinds of Korean middle school mathematics textbooks and two kinds of corresponding U.S. textbooks for seventh graders, we found that the tasks dealing with all the phases of statistical processes were found only in the U.S. textbooks while not even one task in such a case was not observed in the Korean textbooks. To make matters worse, the proportion of the tasks dealing with only one phase of statistical processes was 93.3% of all the tasks in Korean textbooks. In terms of types of tasks, the types of tasks were very homogeneous in Korean textbooks, usually Types FPR or PR while more various types of tasks were found in the U.S. textbooks such as Types FRI, PRI, FR, or RI. In views of features of each phase in statistical processes, Korean textbooks heavily focused only on some particular statistical behaviors such as 'formulating a problem', 'collecting data', 'transforming data', and 'analyzing a part of data.' The findings of this study provide meaningful implications for improving statistics education and developing mathematics textbooks to enhance students' statistical thinking and problem-solving ability.
