  • In these days, various kinds of web applications based on web 2.0 paradigm have been developed. In web 2.0 paradigm pursuing participation, sharing, and openness on the web-as-platform, web mapping or web GIS application are regarded as top most applications, so that web applications, handling geo-spatial contents, with user-interaction interface and search engine of high performance have been provided for both public users and expert users in the special domains. Public and industrial needs for web mapping mashup application by open API, linked with the practical web computing technologies, are gradually increasing. In this study, a user interface in mashup for geo-spatial feature generation was implemented by using mainly Google maps API. Spatial database resources in this implementation are those of Google mapping server. As the results, public users on web client can create their own geo-spatial data sets in web vector formats, without the help of any GIS tools or access to proprietary databases. It is concluded that web-based mashup application in client-side using open API can be used as an alternative for geo-browsing system or portable feature generation system.

  • Application (app) ratings are feedback provided voluntarily by users and serve as important evaluation criteria for apps. However, these ratings can often be biased owing to insufficient or missing votes. Additionally, significant differences have been observed between numeric ratings and user reviews. This study aims to predict the numeric ratings of Google apps using machine learning classifiers. It exploits numeric app ratings provided by users as training data and returns authentic mobile app ratings by analyzing user reviews. An ensemble learning model is proposed for this purpose that considers term frequency/inverse document frequency (TF/IDF) features. Three TF/IDF features, including unigrams, bigrams, and trigrams, were used. The dataset was scraped from the Google Play store, extracting data from 14 different app categories. Biased and unbiased user ratings were discriminated using TextBlob analysis to formulate the ground truth, from which the classifier prediction accuracy was then evaluated. The results demonstrate the high potential for machine learning-based classifiers to predict authentic numeric ratings based on actual user reviews.

  • April 2021, Disaster Safety Communication Network services have been launched, but security functions are weak at the beginning of the service. The current security method for Android-based APP is using Google Protect's technology to detect malware. Malware is difficult to detect directly because there are various types, so by applying malware detection technology that combines AI and Google Protect technology to Disaster Safety Communication Networks, research on how to implement 'AI-based Disaster Satety Communication Network Protect'.

  • With recent rapid globalization, accurate information for the foreign countries is increasingly important. Errors based on inaccurate information and unequal international relationships complicate the situations. In this article, authors analyzed the Japanese place names which appear on the Google Earth images and place name database of the NGA. Google Earth already becomes a tremendous soft power in internet society; therefore, accurate information on the satellite image is more necessary than ever. This article finds that many types of errors exist in the place names in Google Earth image service. Also many place names are listed with Japanese pronunciation in GNS database as variants. The Japanese place names have not been used in topographic maps published since 1910s and 1930s. Japanese place names were widely used in US military maps published in 1946. 1:250,000 maps published in 1954, however, doesn't seem to use Japanese pronunciation any more.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate whether Google Scholar (GS) can substitute Web of Science (WoS) for those who don't have access to the subscription-based indexing service and if users feel GS is useful for scholarly information. To achieve the research purpose, the study evaluates both quantitative and qualitative aspects of the two databases. The major results through statistical analysis show that GS indexes much more records and citations for LIS journals than WoS(p < .01), but users' feedback about GS is not better than those about WoS.

  • Currently, SEAMCAT has been widely used as a tool to evaluate the effects of interference among wireless communication systems. In the previous work, we have incorporated the ITU-R P.526 pathloss model to the existing SEAMCAT in order to support the capability of interference evaluation taking into account any specific terrain characteristics. Along with this, we have implemented a terrain display function based on the Google map. However, the two-dimensional Google map based display is not effective in helping users to figure out some terrain features including the elevation variation in a given region. In order to alleviate this difficulty, we have incorporated the three-dimensional terrain display using the API of the Google earth to the existing SEAMCAT and provided the capability of viewing the positions of the associated communication systems, the variation of the carrier intensity and interference intensity in location, shadow region indication, and line-of-sight analysis and presented an example of interference evaluation.

  • This study is to investigate the characteristics of the Invisible Web and many search services designed to serve as gateways to the Invisible Web and to evaluate searching the Invisible Web in the Services. The four services for searching the Invisible Web were selected to search the Invisible Web with 11 queries, that are Google as portals, ProFusion and Search.com as Invisible Web meta search engines, and IncyWincy as Invisible Web search engines. It was found that the effectiveness of Google's Invisible Web searching was better compared with the three Invisible Web search tools but the difference between the four systems was not significant((${\alpha}$=.055) The Invisible Web meta searching was better than the Web meta searching in the three search tools at the statistically significant level. The effectiveness measurement based on the ranks and relevance degree(quality) of relevant documents retrieved seemed appropriate to the ranked search results.

  • The purpose of this research is to explore the possibility of geographic education by implementing the map-based geographic education site which mashed up with Google earth by referring the various materials of geographic education which exist in on-line and off-line. In recent years map-based geographic education is required by the radical change of geoweb environments, but there have been few researches in this field. This research is folded up as follows: First, we designed the contents through the textbook analysis and then collect various data related to the contents such as pictures, video clips, conceptual map, etc. which are required to explain the concept. Second, we mashed up the collected data on the Google earth by using the Google's open API. Third, we implemented the geographic education website based on the classification of contents in textbook and the various collected data. This research is important in both that it explores the possibility of the map-based education rather than the text-based education in the geographic field which handles mainly the space and finds the best method to express the various concepts of the textbook on the geoweb environments.

  • Unlike existing Open APIs, Linked Data are made as a huge intelligent base to perform high-level SPARQL queries, and it is possible to create efficiently a new content by mashuping different information from various datasets. This paper implements a responsive web application for location-based semantic search. We mashup DBpedia, a kind of Linked Data, and GoogleMap API provided by Google, and provide a semantic browser function to confirm detail information regarding retrieved objects. Our system can be used in various access environments such as PC and mobile by applying responsive web design idea. The system implemented in this paper compares functional specifications with existing systems with similar functions. The comparison results show the superiority of our system in various aspects such as using semantic, linked-based browser, and mashup function.
