글로벌마케팅의 표준화-현지화 결정요인에 관한 실증 연구: 상황적응론 vs. 자원기반 관점 중심으로 (What Determines Standardization vs. Adaptation in Global Marketing Program?: An Empirical Study with Contingency and Resource-based Views)

  • 본 연구는 한국 기업의 글로벌마케팅 프로그램의 표준화-현지화 정도를 결정하는 요인에 관한 실증적 연구이다. 특히 본 연구는 2가지 관점에서 기존 연구와 차별화하고자 하였다. 첫째는 모국-현지국의 환경 차이에 초점을 두는 기존 실증연구와는 달리 글로벌 관점에서 분석하고자 하였다. 두 번째는 본 연구는 상황접근론 관점과 자원기반 관점에서 결정요인을 설정하고 이들 요인의 효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 구체적인 결정요인으로 상황적응론적 관점에서 외부환경 요인인 글로벌 시장의 역동성과 복잡성을, 그리고 자원기반 관점에서 글로벌 마케팅자산을 설정하고 검증하였다. 이를 위해 국제마케팅을 수행하는 국내 기업 128개 업체를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 기업의 글로벌 마케팅자산은 글로벌마케팅 프로그램 표준화 정도와의 정(正)의 관계를 나타는 것으로 나타난 반면에, 글로벌 시장환경 요인은 통계적으로 유의한 관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 기업의 글로벌마케팅 프로그램은 상황적응론적 관점보다는 자원기반 관점에서 결정되는 경향이 있음을 사사하는 결과이다.

  • Established in May 2005, INNOCEAN Worldwide started as an affiliate marketing and communications company of the Hyundai Motor Group and grew into a top agency ranked no. 2 in the South Korean market within seven years. Currently, INNOCEAN Worldwide has become a global company, operating in sixteen countries through four regional headquarters, fifteen overseas subsidiaries, and seven branch offices with more than 1,100 employees. The company holds top clients from finance, electronics, telecommunications, food, retail, education and other various industries. The accomplishment of INNOCEAN Worldwide can be summarized by the following five key factors. The first factor is INNOCEAN Worldwide's strong and enduring passion and commitment to enter the global market and to build and strengthen its global network. The second factor is achieving successful localization through recruiting talented employees for its overseas branches directly from the local workforce, which enables the company to overcome language barriers, cultural differences, and creative gaps among different regional markets. Third is the company's effective implementation of the 'Global Resource Remix' strategy, which incorporates the distinctive competencies of each overseas operation as a global company standard. Fourth is the creation of the 'Discover System,' a global knowledge management system enabling overseas offices worldwide to share each other's accumulated knowledge and experiences. The fifth factor is the successful establishment of INNOCEAN Worldwide's unique Total Marketing Solution Service. Through this service, the company has offered integrated consulting services for strategic brand management to solve various marketing problems. In summary, the passion and commitment of INNOCEAN Worldwide's top management for the company's globalization and the supporting system that enables such commitment have made it possible for the company to take a global leap and become not merely a company with global operations but a truly global company.

'본글로벌(born global)전략'을 추구하는 벤처기업의 특성과 성과에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Born Global Venture Corporation's Characteristics and Performance)

  • 기업 환경의 국제화에 따라 설립초기에 국제화를 시도하는 벤처 기업이 증가하고 있고 이러한 현상은 기존의 기업 국제화의 단계적인 모델로는 설명에 한계를 가진다. 소위 태생적 글로벌 벤처(born global venture; BGV)은 R&D 밀집도와 경쟁밀집도가 높은 하이테크 산업에서 많이 나타나며 기존의 실증 연구에서 BGV의 환경 및 기업의 역량 특성과 국제화에 따른 기업 성과에 대한 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 기업의 성과의 경우 실증적인 연구에서 상호 다른 결과를 보이고 있으며 기업의 성과에 중요한 영향을 미치는 마케팅 전략에 대한 논의가 부족했다고 판단된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 BGV에 포함되지 않는 기업(Non_BGV)에 비하여 BGV가 보유하고 있는 기업 역량과 마케팅 전략의 차이 및 BGV의 기업 성과를 성장성, 수익성, 시장 성과 측면에서 분석해 보았다. 결과적으로 BGV는 Non_BGV에 비하여 기업의 지식을 활용하는 능력 및 해외 경험에서 차이를 보였으며 두 기업군이 추구하는 마케팅 전략에서도 차이가 있음을 보였다. 또한 기업의 성과 측면에서는 성장성과 시장 성과에서는 BGV가 더 나은 성과를 보였으나 수익성 측면에서는 차이가 없는 것으로 분석되었다.

A Study on the Development of Global Leadership Program Model

  • The objective of this study was to explore a specific method and strategy for 'Global Leadership Program Model' in order to enhance global leadership, which will emphasize the aspect of open mind and attitude toward diversity, cross-culture, communication, and global manner. This research explored the concept and characteristics of global leadership and competency based education, and analyzed effectiveness of satisfaction and participation on global leadership programs implemented in K University and analyzed the learners' recognition on the experience. Also, the research integrated the values of global leadership with the strategies of competency-based education, and finally developed 'Global Leadership Program Model'. As a result, 'Global Leadership Program Model' might be able to help students use knowledge and skill in various contexts, and serve in the community with responsibility. It is expected that students could be facilitated to perform task and role communicating with others, and they might know exactly what learning outcome they are required to establish and what standard is used to evaluate the performance, so that this environment might motivate them and encourage them to follow the learning process more effectively.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish the identity of Kangwon Land as an integrated resort and to suggest the future directions for sustainability. In addition, we will explore strategies for revitalizing the local economy and promoting local coexistence by diagnosing social awareness in order to coexist with the local economy. We examined the internal and external environment of Kangwon Land and investigated regional awareness and win-win strategies for Kangwon Land. Also, we analyzed various strategies and business activities that Kangwon Land is carrying out. In order for Kangwon Land to pursue sustainable growth as a global complex resort, it needs to establish (1) new trend management generating new demand that reflects global trends, (2) strategies to build regional tourism clusters, (3) a global network through global investment and partnership, (4) various CSR and regional cooperation strategies, and (5) CI(Corporate Image) improvement strategies.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 2008년 글로벌 금융위기 이후 미국의 힘에 대한 중국의 인식을 살펴보는 것이다. 중국은 글로벌 금융위기로 인해 미국의 경제적 패권의 지위는 약화되었지만, 미국의 패권은 단지 경제력만이 아닌 미국의 종합적인 국력기반 위에 구축되어 있기 때문에 전반적인 국제질서에서 미국이 차지하는 패권적 지위가 약화되지는 않을 것으로 전망하고 있다. 또한 미국의 패권적 지위가 지속될 것이기 때문에 소위 '일초다강'이라는 국제질서에 근본적인 변화가 발생하지는 않겠지만 미국 경제력의 퇴보로 중국은 미국과의 격차가 줄어들 수 있는 기회를 맞이할 것이라고 진단하고 있다. 단기적으로 볼 때, 중국은 경제적 측면에서 글로벌 금융체제 개혁의 이니셔티브를 확보하기 위한 정책을 펼칠 가능성이 높다. 안보적 측면에서 역내에 미국의 영향이 중국의 핵심 이익을 위배하지 않는 범위 내에서 중국은 미국과 보다 협력적인 정책을 취할 것이라고 예상된다.

양면게임 이론으로 분석한 한국GM 경영정상화 협상연구 (A Study on the Negotiation on Management Normalization of GM Korea through the Two-Level Games)

  • This study examines the normalization of Korean GM management between the Korean government and GM in terms of external negotiation game and internal negotiation game using Putnam's Two-Level Games. In addition, GM's Win-set change and negotiation strategy were analyzed. This analysis suggested implications for the optimal negotiation strategy for mutual cooperation between multinational corporations and local governments in the global business environment. First, the negotiation strategy for Korea's normalization of GM management in Korea can be shifted to both the concession theory and the opposition theory depending on the situation change and the government policy centered on the cautious theory. Second, GM will maximize its bargaining power through 'brink-end tactics' by utilizing the fact that the labor market is stabilized, which is the biggest weakness of the Korean government, while maintaining a typical Win-set reduction strategy. GM will be able to restructure at any time in terms of global management strategy, and if the financial support of the Korean government is provided, it will maintain the local factory but withdraw the local plant at the moment of stopping the support. In negotiations on the normalization of GM management in Korea, it is necessary to prepare a problem and countermeasures for various scenarios and to maintain a balance so that the policy does not deviate to any one side.

Global Regulators to Activate Silent Biosynthetic Gene Clusters

  • Genome mining has recently emerged as a powerful strategy to discover novel microbial secondary metabolites. However, more than 50% of biosynthetic gene clusters are not transcribed under standardized laboratory culture condition. Several methods have been applied to activate silent biosynthetic gene clusters in the microbes so far. Among the regulatory systems for production of secondary metabolites, global regulators, which affect transcription of genes through regulatory cascades, typically govern the production of small molecules. In this review, global regulators to affect production of microbial secondary metabolites were discussed.

한국 해외투자 현지법인의 인재등용 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study of Localization of Human Resources Recruitment in the Overseas Investment of the Korean Firms)

  • This thesis is analysing localization of human resources recruitment in the overseas investment of the Korean firms. The main results of the analysis can be summarized as follows: first, Korean overseas local corporations have achieved localization for physical workers. But localization above middle manager level is very poor. Second, local corporations are managed by the employee from Korean parent company. Third, parent company mentioned language ability, work process ability of local business, responsibility, leadership as selection basis for the workers in overseas local corporations. Localization propel strategy of local corporation human resources recruiting : (1) human resources recruiting strategy is the strategy of outsider. simple global human resources recruiting strategy is the recruiting of person dispatched from headquarter rather than local human resources (2) human resources recruiting strategy is the strategy of multidomestication. multidomestication human resources recruiting strategy is the strategy to use in case of stabilization in local area.

The Endless Challenges of KIA Motors for Globalization : A Case Study on Kia in Saudi Arabia

  • Purpose - This case study is dedicated to the study of the presence of KIA Motors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and its market and entry strategies for strategic globalization that allowed the company to establish itself within a conservative and clustered marketplace dominated by American and Japanese international brands. Research Design, data, and methodology - The main information for the case was gathered through an interview and questionnaire from the executives of the KIA Al Jabr, which got the exclusive dealership in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, secondary data were obtained from reliable and authoritative sources such as the Saudi government agency publications, newspapers, international business journals. Other related periodicals based on the results from previous and current studies on similar topics were critically reviewed as well. Results - The findings of this paper show the different business environments of the Saudi market and the importance of various points regarding the company's global entry strategy even if the host market culture is quite different in many ways from other international markets. Conclusions - This case can provide Korean companies interested in the Middle East with insight into market penetration and global strategy, and present various perspectives and implications for global market access as well.
