In this paper, the problem of global asymptotic stability of uncertain stochastic neural networks with delay is considered. The delay is assumed to be time-varying and belong to a given interval. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, new delay-dependent stability criteria for the system is derived in terms of LMI(linear matrix inequality). Three numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of proposed method.

This paper presents a new T-S(Tae-Sugeno) fuzzy controller design method satisfying the output energy bound. Maximum output energy via a quadratic Lyapunov function to obtain the bound on output energy is derived. LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality) problems which satisfy an output energy bound for both of the continuous-time and discrete-time T-S fuzzy control system are also derived. Solving these LMIs simultaneously, we find a common symmetric positive definite matrix P which guarantees the global asymptotic stability of the system and stable feedback gains K's satisfying the output energy bound. A simple example demonstrates validity of the proposed design method.

This paper presents a new algorithm for hierarchical optimal control of nonlinear systems. The proposed method is simple because the solutions are obtained by only exchanging informations of coefficient vector based on interaction prediction principle and FWT(fast Walsh transform) in upper and lower level. Since we solve two point boundary problem with Picard's iterative method and the backward integral operational matrix of Walsh function to obtain the optimal vector of each independent subsystem, the algorithm is simple and its operation is fast without inverse matrix and kronecker product operation. In simulation, the proposed algorithm's usefulness is proved by comparison with the global optimal control methods.

Traditional structure analysis method is based on numerical matrix analysis to use the geometries consisting of the structure. The characteristics require a lot of computer memories and computational time. To avoid these weaknesses, new approach to analyze truss structure was suggested by adopting topological load redistribution method. The axial forces to be not structurely analyzed yet against outside loads were redistributed by using nodal equation of equilibrium randomly at each node without constructing global matrix. However, this method could not calculate the axial forces if structure is statically indeterminate due to degree of many indeterminacies. Therefore, to apply the method suggested in this research, all redundancies of truss structure were replaced by unit loads. Each unit load could make the deformation of a whole structure, and a superposition method was finally adopted to solve the simultaneous equations. The axial forces and deflections agreed with the result of commercial software within the relative error of 1 %, whereas in the case that the axial forces are relatively very smaller than others, the relative errors were increased to 2 %. However, as the values were small enough not to be considered, it was practically useful as a structural analysis model. This model will be used for structural analysis of truss type of large structure such as agricultural farming facility.
In this paper, we consider the global exponential stability of cellular neural networks with time-varying delays. Based on the Lyapunov function method and convex optimization approach, a novel delay-dependent criterion of the system is derived in terms of LMI (linear matrix inequality). In order to solve effectively the LMI convex optimization problem, the interior point algorithm is utilized in this work. Two numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of our results.
The homogenization method is used to develop a beam element in space for thermo-mechanical analysis of unidirectional composites. Local stress and temperature field in the microscale are described using the function of homogenization. The global (macroscopic) behaviour of the structure is supposed to be that of a beam. Beam-type kinematical hypotheses (including independent shear rotations) are hence applied and superposed on the microdescription. A macroscopic stiffness matrix for such a beam element is then developed which contains the microscale properties of the single cell of periodicity. The presented model enables us to analyse without too much computational effort complicated composite structures such as e.g. toroidal coils of a fusion reactor. We need only a FE mesh sufficiently fine for a correct description of the local geometry of a single cell and a few of the newly developed elements for the description of the global behaviour. An unsmearing procedure gives the stress and temperature field in the different materials of a single cell.

To represent the relations of the data dependency and resource conflict among micro-operations(MOP's) in the compaction process of microprograms, we propose a DDM (data dependent matrix) representation method instead of the DAG (conventional directed acyclic graph). Also, we propose a global compaction algorithm of microprograms to prevent a kind of block copying by cutting the trace at a junction block. The DDM method and compaction algoristhm have been applied to the Lah's example. The results shows that the proposed algorithm is more efficient than the conventional algorithms in reducing in reducing the total execution time and control memory space.
Laminated composite shells are commonly used in various engineering applications including aerospace and marine structures. In this paper, using semi-analytical finite strip method, the buckling behavior of laminated composite deep as well as thick shells of revolution under follower forces which remain normal to the shell is investigated. The stiffness caused by pressure is calculated for the follower forces subjected to external fibers in thick shells. The shell is divided into several closed strips with alignment of their nodal lines in the circumferential direction. The governing equations are derived based on first-order shear deformation theory which accounts for through thickness-shear flexibility. Displacements and rotations in the middle surface of shell are approximated by combining polynomial functions in the meridional direction as well as truncated Fourier series with an appropriate number of harmonic terms in the circumferential direction. The load stiffness matrix which accounts for variation of loads direction will be derived for each strip of the shell. Assembling of these matrices results in global load stiffness matrix which may be un-symmetric. Upon forming linear elastic stiffness matrix called constitutive stiffness matrix, geometric stiffness matrix and load stiffness matrix, the required elements for the second step analysis which is an eigenvalue problem are provided. In this study, different parameter effects are investigated including shell geometry, material properties, and different boundary conditions. Afterwards, the outcomes are compared with other researches. By considering the results of this article, it can be concluded that the deformation-dependent pressure assumption can entail to decrease the calculated buckling load in shells. This characteristic is studied for different examples.

The effect of ZnO on cellulose acetate in the removal of benzophenone-3 (BP-3) was investigated. The benzophenone-3 (BP-3) which is an endocrine disrupting chemical (EDC) was completely removed (100%) from the drinking water using Cellulose Acetate (CA) and zinc oxide (ZnO) composite membranes. The membranes were prepared by DIPS method and the filtration experiments were conducted by dead end filtration unit. The macrostructure of the membrane were studied by ATR-IR and XRD Spectra's. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to study the micro properties of the membranes. The laboratory experiments such as water uptake study and pure water flux performed to confirm the increasing hydrophilicity. The enhancing hydrophilicity was confirmed with respect to higher the concentration of nanoparticles. Evaluation of BP-3 removal was carried in different experimental conditions, such as, different Trans membrane pressure and different concentration of feed. The membrane with low pressure showed better performance by rejecting 100% of BP-3. However, 1 ppm, 3 ppm and 6 ppm of feed solution was used and among them 3 ppm of feed solution gives 100% rejection. The ZnO nanoparticales enhances the performance of CA membrane by showing maximum rejection.
Sensor placement is a crucial aspect of bridge health monitoring (BHM) dedicated to accurately estimate and locate structural damages. In addressing this goal, a sensor placement framework based on the deflection influence line (DIL) analysis is here proposed, for the optimal design of damage detection-oriented BHM system. In order to improve damage detection accuracy, we explore the change of global stiffness matrix, damage coefficient matrix and DIL vector caused by structural damage, and thus develop a novel sensor placement framework based on the Fisher information matrix. Our approach seeks to determine the contribution of each sensing node to damage detection, and adopts a distance correction coefficient to eliminate the information redundancy among sensors. The proposed damage detection-oriented optimal sensor placement (OSP) method is verified by two examples: (1) a numerically simulated three-span continuous beam, and (2) the Pinghu bridge which has existing real damage conditions. These two examples verify the performance of the distance corrected damage sensitivity of influence line (DSIL) method in significantly higher contribution to damage detection and lower information redundancy, and demonstrate the proposed OSP framework can be potentially employed in BHM practices.
