  • This study was aimed at developing a common curriculum for the department of environmental education from 5 colleges of education. The need and background of curriculum reform can be summarized as follow; first, it has been recognized that new national curriculum of 2009 and 2011 created need for training teachers equipped with more integrated competency. Second, global environmental problems such as climate change and energy crisis asked for more responsible choice and action from all citizens. Third, the extremely low hiring rate resulted in the consideration of new working fields for teacher students majoring in environmental education. Fourth, the expansion of new environmental education paradigms including education for sustainable development called for practicing reconstruction of both contends and methods. From a series of research processes including analysis of current curriculum, DACUM, opinion survey and interest groups review, several new approaches for developing new curriculum had been identified as follow; first, content areas of environmental education should be extended beyond environmental natural science. Second, new learning approaches such as project-based learning need to be emphasized for strengthening the identity of environment as a separate subject. Third, more selective majoring system need to be applied in connection with environment government officials, researchers, and social environmental educators. It was recommended that the application of new curriculum developed by the study would be evaluated and managed by teaching conditions surrounding each of the five university members joined this developing processes. However, it needs to be noted that there is not much time because we had experienced zero hiring rate for the last 4 years and environmental policy and education programs are moving rapidly toward sustainable development.

Subjectivity is the truth of the self, which is incessantly created, questioned and modified in the milieu of self-reflection. In an attempt to examine the hermeneutics of the subject of Korean society, a conceptual framework is proposed, which, with the notion of life embedded, consists of a historical sequence of the popular, minjung, multitude, people and community. The period of 1960s saw the ambiguous mass of lifes floating, the individual with his/her own interior world of consciousness emerge. The ideological solidarity is formed in the the next two decades, in contestation with immediate and physical threatening such as poverty and dictatorship. The democratization of Korean society and the global expansion of neoliberal regime gave a re-birth of multitude and people which is characterized with their pursuit of the co-existence and co-realization of singularity and universality on the ethical principle of the open and communicative radicality.

  • This study examined the growth characteristics and competitive advantages of Korea's tourism industry compared to other Northeast Asian countries using the Balassa Indices and Shift-Share method. The analysis results showed that the growth of Korea's tourism industry over the past decade was due mainly to external factors, such as the growth of the global economy and the expansion of the tourism sector, while the role of growth momentum of the tourism industry itself was insignificant. Employment in Korea's tourism industry has shown relatively higher increasing rates compared to the rates of the total amount of sales and value-adding. This appears to be caused by the decreased absorption of the labor force in the tourism industry due to the overall capacity of job creation. (Ed note: This sentence was unclear. Please check the edits.)The competitive advantage of Korea's tourism industry has been strengthened over the past decade, but it is still inferior to other countries. The travel account balance showed that the economic size of the Chinese tourism sector had grown rapidly over the past decade, but the competitive advantage of the sector has been weakened. On the other hand, the economic size of the Japanese tourism sector has shown sluggish growth, while its competitive advantage has been strengthened significantly.

  • Nowadays, novel and innovative technology including 3D printers, internet of things (IoT), and wearable devices are rapidly emerging. As we must constantly keep up with the most recent trends, words like convergence, multidisciplinarity, and design revolution indeed define society today. Due to the expansion of such diverse technological, industrial, and academic convergence trends, the role of design is becoming evermore essential in development of products as well as creative services. Even the government is pushing towards a 'creative economy' by encouraging ICT convergence to create novel industries as well as advanced jobs. In order to adapt flexibly to such changes in global trends, a solid academic curriculum centered around 'ICT+Design' must be developed. In the current research, we analyzed various literature and benchmarked the major universities both domestic and foreign. Also we utilized a survey-based approach against subjects who are experts or design specialists working in environments related to industry and research. In our proposed integrated ICT+Design educational curriculum, students familiarize themselves with design perspectives and methodology to creatively carry out the course. Moreover, experts from design and ICT came together in an act of 'Radical Collaboration' in which they shared their unique 'Design Thinking' in order to promote understanding and cooperation. Furthermore, industry experts have also taken part as mentors in order to create a workplace-oriented course with various integrated projects. Most importantly, the course was designed so that in addition to research, students can really get hands-on with their ideas in the creativity-integrated workplace.
