  • User interactions are being developed in various forms, and in particular, interactions using human gestures are being actively studied. Among them, hand gesture recognition is used as a human interface in the field of realistic media based on the 3D Hand Model. The use of interfaces based on hand gesture recognition helps users access media media more easily and conveniently. User interaction using hand gesture recognition should be able to view images by applying fast and accurate hand gesture recognition technology without restrictions on the computer environment. This paper developed a fast and accurate user hand gesture recognition algorithm using the open source media pipe framework and machine learning's k-NN (K-Nearest Neighbor). In addition, in order to minimize the restriction of the computer environment, a stereoscopic image control system based on user hand gesture recognition was designed and implemented using a web service environment capable of Internet service and a docker container, a virtual environment.

  • This paper aims at providing a shooter game interface which enhances the game's realism by recognizing user's hand gestures using the Leap Motion. In this paper, we implemented the functions such as shooting, moving, viewpoint change, and zoom in/out, which are necessary in shooter games, and confirmed through user test that the game interface using familiar and intuitive hand gestures is superior to the conventional mouse/keyboard in terms of ease-to-manipulation, interest, extendability, and so on. Specifically, the user satisfaction index(1~5) was 3.02 on average when using the mouse/keyboard interface and 3.57 on average when using the proposed hand gesture interface.

  • Recently, various kinds of new computer controlled devices have been introduced in a wide range of areas, and convenient user interfaces for controlling the devices are strongly needed. To implement natural user interfaces(NUIs) on top of the devices, new technologies like a touch screen, Wii Remote, wearable interfaces, and Microsoft Kinect were presented. This paper presents a natural and intuitive gesture-based model for controlling contents of LCD display. Microsoft Kinect sensor and its SDK are used to recognize human gestures, and the gestures are interpreted into corresponding commands to be executed. A command dispatch model is also proposed in order to handle the commands more naturally. I expect the proposed interface can be used in various fields, including display contents control.

  • In these days, many systems are equipped with people to infer their intention and provide the corresponding service. People always carry their own mobile device with various sensors, and the accelerator takes a role in this environment. The accelerator collects motion information, which is useful for the development of gesture-based user interfaces. Generally, it needs to develop an effective method for the mobile environment that supports relatively less computational capability since huge computation is required to recognize time-series patterns such as gestures. In this paper, we propose a 2-stage motion recognizer composed of low-level and high-level motions based on the motion library. The low-level motion recognizer uses the dynamic time warping with 3D acceleration data, and the high-level motion is defined linguistically with the low-level motions.

  • There are many discussions nowadays about utilizing smartphones to create a mobile computing educational environment. The purpose of this study is to develope an application which addresses the growing importance of mental arithmetic maps in lower elementary grades. Considering current theories on developmental characteristics for the target levels I decided that a gesture based input interface increase the users concentration and interest. Students using this application will learn and reinforce the basics of the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of natural numbers. By removing the limitations of time and space as afforded by the convenience of a smartphone and utilizing a gesture based input interface we can combine an application which increases users mental arithmetic speed and precision with the enjoyment of a game.

  • Most of the research in the multi-touch area is based on the FTIR(Frustrated Total Internal Re리ection), which is just implemented by using the previous approach. Moreover, there are not the software solutions to improve a performance in the multi touch-blobs detection or the user gesture recognition. Therefore, we implement a multi-touch table-top display that is based on the DI(Diffused Illumination), the improved touch-points detection and user gesture recognition. The proposed method supports a simultaneous transformation multi-touch command for objects in the running application. Also, the system latency time is reduced by the proposed ore-testing method in the multi touch-blobs detection processing. Implemented device is simulated by programming the Flash AS3 application in the TUIO(Tangible User Interface Object) environment that is based on the OSC(Open Sound Control) protocol. As a result, Our system shows the 37% system latency reduction, and is successful in the multi-touch gestures recognition.

  • The most problematic part in wearable terminals is the display device. To solve these problem, the HMD(Head Mounted Display) is used to wearable terminals. It is a kind of monitor worn like glasses. However, a problem exists in HMD. To select and execute the multimedia contents, it is required to manipulate the key, button, and mouse. These actions are very uncomfortable in HMD. The most fundamental way solving these problems is to develop a new interface. In this paper, we developed the wearable image watching system based on gesture recognition system.

  • Recently, building is rapidly develop more intelligently because of the development of industries. And people seek such as comfort, efficiency, and convenience in office environment and the living environment. Also, people were able to use a variety of devices. Smart TV and smart phones were distributed widely so interaction between devices and human has been increase the interest. A various method study for interaction but there are some discomfort and limitations using controller for interaction. In this paper, a user could be easily interaction and control LED through using Kinect and gesture(hand gestures) without controller. we designed interface which is control LED using the joint information of gesture obtained from Kinect. A user could be individually controlled LED through gestures (hand movements) using the implementation of the interface. We expected developed interface would be useful in LED control and various fields.

  • While increasing demand of the service for the disabled and the elderly people, assistive technologies have been developed rapidly. The natural signal of human such as voice or gesture has been applied to the system for assisting the disabled and the elderly people. As an example of such kind of human robot interface, the Soft Remote Control System has been developed by HWRS-ERC in $KAIST^[1]$. This system is a vision-based hand gesture recognition system for controlling home appliances such as television, lamp and curtain. One of the most important technologies of the system is the hand gesture recognition algorithm. The frequently occurred problems which lower the recognition rate of hand gesture are inter-person variation and intra-person variation. Intra-person variation can be handled by inducing fuzzy concept. In this paper, we propose multivariate fuzzy decision tree(MFDT) learning and classification algorithm for hand motion recognition. To recognize hand gesture of a new user, the most proper recognition model among several well trained models is selected using model selection algorithm and incrementally adapted to the user's hand gesture. For the general performance of MFDT as a classifier, we show classification rate using the benchmark data of the UCI repository. For the performance of hand gesture recognition, we tested using hand gesture data which is collected from 10 people for 15 days. The experimental results show that the classification and user adaptation performance of proposed algorithm is better than general fuzzy decision tree.
