We performed laboratory spudcan penetration and extraction tests considering various geometries. Jumunjin sand, representative standard sand in South Korea, and kaolinite were used for uniform sand and clay layers, respectively. The measured vertical bearing and pull-out capacities were compared to empirical equations for shallow foundations. The results showed good agreement between measured and calculated bearing capacity from laboratory test and previous study at shallow depths. The effect of spudcan geometry is shown to depend on site condition. The influence of a sharp spigot is not significant in clays. The slope of the spudcan surface is shown to influence the pull-out capacity. The characteristics of spudcan penetration and extraction behavior considering various geometries can be a useful reference for determining spudcan geometries.
The present study examined the free surface flow of a liquid sheet near a sprinkler head using a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) model and considered the feasibility of the empirical model for predicting the initial spray characteristics of the sprinkler head through a comparison of the CFD results. The CFD calculation for a simplified sprinkler geometry considering the nozzle and deflector were performed using the commercially available CFD package, CFX 14.0 with the standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model and theVolume of Fluid (VOF) method. The predicted velocity of the empirical model at the edge of deflector were in good agreement with that of the CFD model for the flat plate region but there was a certain discrepancy between the two models for the complex geometry region. The mean droplet diameter predicted by the empirical model differed significantly from the measured value of the real sprinkler head. On the other hand, the empirical model can be used to understand the mechanism of droplet formation near the sprinkler head and predict the initial spray characteristics for cases without experimental data.
In this study, we introduce a 3D micro-cell simulator for radio wave propagation analysis in indoor environments. Previous studies treat only the path loss between the transmitter and receiver in 2D geometry. We provide the simulation results of indoor propagation prediction based on various ITU-R Recommendations. Simulation results described here indicate that the low and high frequency bands give quite different characteristics in presented indoor geometry. The propagation loss as a function of distance has two distinct regions. It is similar to that occurring in free space within 5-20m of the transmitter, however, increases significantly as the electromagnetic waves become obstructed by the walls at distances further away in the next region.
Digitalization due to COVID-19 has rapidly developed artificial intelligence-based voice recognition technology. However, this technology causes unfair social problems, such as race and gender discrimination if datasets are biased against some groups, and degrades the reliability and security of artificial intelligence services. In this work, we compare and analyze accuracy-based unfairness in biased data environments using VGGNet (Visual Geometry Group Network), ResNet (Residual Neural Network), and MobileNet, which are representative CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) models of artificial intelligence. Experimental results show that ResNet34 showed the highest accuracy for women and men at 91% and 89.9%in Top1-accuracy, while ResNet18 showed the slightest accuracy difference between genders at 1.8%. The difference in accuracy between genders by model causes differences in service quality and unfair results between men and women when using the service.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare the quality of digital X-ray imaging system. The image quality evaluation was conducted By using Modulation transfer function indicating the quantitative resolution of the image and the noise power spectrum showing the noise characteristics. Using a IEC61267 radiation quality was applied to the geometry to be used in clinical and geometry presented in IEC62220-1 and Additional filter, grid, the clinical dose and the MTF value of edge phantom was measured. Result of the MTF corresponding to each item(Grid, Filter, SID, kVp, mAs), the clinical condition 100cm, 180cm, measurements of the spatial frequency of the MTF IEC62220-1Geometry 150cm became similarly apparent, rather spatial frequency was also the case high in clinical conditions 100cm. NPS results, as the dose(mAs) is increased, NPS showed that reduced. The image quality evaluation using IEC61267 the Radiation quality, Image quality of the video using the clinical conditions Geometry than image quality evaluation using IEC62220-1Geometry was better. It shows that MTF and NPC in IEC and clinical condition were not significantly different. In order to apply the evaluation method of image quality applied with clinical conditions rather than the future method, to be presented evaluation of IEC standard, based on the results of the image characterization studies in this paper, the methods that shows good quality of spatial resolution and decrease NPS value as the least dose, used suitable parameters for whether or not using added filter, grid, change SID and clinical quality(kVp), dose(mAs) etc should be found. then It is believed to be able to properly maintain the actual quality of the image of the digital radiographic imaging system in clinical.
This paper presents a method to simulate noise propagation by a computer for outdoor environment. Sound propagated in 3 dimensional space generates reflected waves whenever it hits boundary surfaces. If a receiver is away from a sound source, it receives multiple sound waves which are reflected from various boundary surfaces in space. The algorithm being developed in this paper is based on a ray sound theory. If we get 3 dimensional geometry input as well as sound sources, we can compute sound effects all over the boundary surfaces. In this paper, we present two approaches to compute sound: the first approach, called forward tracing, traces sounds forwards from sound sources. while the second approach, called geometry based computation, computes possible propagation routes between sources and receivers. We compare two approaches and suggest the geometry based sound computation for outdoor simulation. Also this approach is very efficient in the sense we can save computational time compared to the forward sound tracing. Sound due to impulse-response is governed by physical environments. When a sound source waveform and numerically computed impulse in time is convoluted, the result generates a synthetic sound. This technique can be easily generalized to synthesize realistic stereo sounds for virtual reality, while the simulation result is visualized using VRML.
The numerical analyses for three different shafts in geometry of high buildings were carried out by using computational fluid dynamics model (FDS ver.5.3) for the calculation of the pressure difference and the location of the neutral plane and the visualization of stack effect. At 10 seconds of stack effect, the pressure difference of stack effect in the elevator shaft (79.3 Pa) almost corresponded to the theoretical value (78 Pa). At 300 seconds of stack effect, all the neutral planes of three cases were located about 49 m above floor, where was 5 m higher than the theoretical value. The maximum pressure difference between upper and lower position of shaft decreased with increasing of the geometrical complexity of shaft. This study showed that there was the difference of the stack effects among the geometries of shafts with the visualization of stack effect.

Sand ripple. the smallest bottom configuration, is one of the most important factors in the mechanism of sand transport. This paper deals with characteristics of ripple geometry generated by regular and irregular waves. Especially. rearrangement of ripple spacing caused by increasing or decreasing waves is investigated through movable bed experiments. Nondimensional length of rearranged ripples becomes very close to that of measured ripples in the field Furthermore, stochastic characteristics and occurrence limits of three dimensional ripples are investigated through the wave number spectrum calculated from the measured bottom topography.

This paper introduces a bistatic ISAR imaging technique. In bistatic geometry, the transmitter and receiver are placed in different locations. The monostatic ISAR is inadequate not only for obtaining images on targets approaching along the radar's line of sight, but also for stealth targets. In this paper, geometry, signal modeling as well as bistatic Doppler for bistatic ISAR are introduced to address these problems. Simulations results show bistatic ISAR images as well as monostatic ISAR images against target's moving scenarios, and analyze their differences for each scenario.
In this study, we present the investigation results using a 3D radio wave propagation simulator in indoor environments. Previous studies treat only the path loss between the transmitter and receiver in 2D geometry. We provide the simulation results of indoor propagation prediction based on various ITU-R Recommendations. Simulation results compared here indicate that 150MHz and 2GHz frequency bands give quite different characteristics in presented indoor geometry. Since the field intensity is affected by the loss at the wall, the transmitting power level is one of the key factor for receiving power.
