  • Let (M,g) be a compact m dimensional Einstein manifold with smooth boundary. Let $\Delta$$_{p}$,B be the realization of the p form valued Laplacian with a suitable boundary condition B. Let Spec($\Delta$$_{p}$,B) be the spectrum where each eigenvalue is repeated according to multiplicity. We show that certain geometric properties of the boundary may be spectrally characterized in terms of this data where we fix the Einstein constant.ant.

  • Subjective scoring by different groups on different status of morbidity are compared to objective data obtained from legal awards. A power law is tested between subjective and objective scores. Regression analysis by means of a power function provides a measure of consistency in its regression coefficient. Power functions fitting also leads to a justified use of geometric averaging of individual scores into group scores.

  • The hot spot stress approach and the notch strain approach are discussed with some results of them. And a stress model that can be applicable to several types of weld joints with single S-N curve of the base material. The stress model uses the geometric characteristics of the stress distribution vicinity of weld joints. The model was applied to five different weld joins(the base material is SM490B). By the representative stress, the experimental fatigue data are plotted very closely to the S-N curve of the base material.

  • Geometric approach to extend the classical two-set theory of canonical correlation analysis to three or more sets is considered. It provides statistical graphs to represent the data in a low dimensional space. Procedures are developed for computing the canonical variables and the corresponding properties are investigated. The solution is equivalent to that of the usual problem in the case of two sets. Goodness-of-fit of the proposed plots is studied and a numerical example is included.

  • Subsonic aerodynamic force and moment characteristics have been determined for parametric groups of launchers. Geometric variables considered in the experimental study were body length, nose planform, fin planform (body-alone contained), number of stage and existence of extrnal booster, All data were obtained for angles of attack from 0 to 27 deg in 3-deg. increments.

  • Transmission loss of KHST passenger vehicle was calculated using measured acoustic data: In order to verify the transmission loss results for KHST case, similar experiment was carried out in laboratory condition, which result was compared those by geometric acoustic method. The computational results shows good agreement with the transmission loss magnitude from experiments. This paper also mentions items to obtain more accurate transmission loss values, i. e. how to assure reverberant field condition, the selection of source speaker' location.

  • We propose a target identification algorithm for visual tracking. Target identification is realized by finding out corresponding line segments to the hypothesized model segments of the target. The key idea is the combination of the Mahalanobis distance with the geometrical relationship between model segments and extracted line segments.

  • Among many optical modulators, we are interested in traveling-wave(TW) multiple quantum well(MQW) electro-absorption modulator which can be used for wide-band applications, covering DC to 30GHz or higher frequencies. In this study, we simulate a 1.3mm InGaAs/lnGaAsP TW MQW EAM using the 3D Finite Difference-Time Domain (FDTD) method. We identify that several geometric factors affect Microwave charateristics. Our calculated data provide useful information to optimize and fabricate ridge-type TW CPW EAM.

  • Rotational-free-surface (RFS) is a special type of free surface whose two boundaries coincide. For NC machining of PFS, a rotational axis as well as three Cartesian axes are required. In this paper, we develop a four-axis CAM module consisting of: a) Geometric modeling of RFS, b) CL-data generation, and c) Graphic simulation of machining operation. To test the validity and effectiveness of the developed module, several test cuts are made with Bridgeport CNC milling machine and compared with the graphic simulation.

  • We develop an automatic trajectory planning system (ATPS) for painting robots by proposing a new trajectory planning scheme. The new scheme considers geometric modeling, painting mechanics, and robot dynamics to output an optimal trajectory (in the sense of coating thickness and painting time) based on the CAD data describing the shape of objects, The new scheme is implemented in SUN/4 workstation to develop an ATPS for painting robots. To test the validity of the new scheme and to illustrate the developed system, numerous runs are performed and analyzed.
