  • Two new generation gap models with modified parent-centric recombination(PCX) operator are proposed. First, the self-adaptation generation gap(SGG) model is a control method that keeps a replaced probability of parents by offspring to a certain level which obtains better performance. Second, virtual cluster generation gap(VCGG) is provided to extend distances among parents using clustering, which causes it to diversify individuals. In this model, distances among parents can be controlled by size of clusters. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our two proposed approaches, experiments for three standard test problems are executed and compared to most competing current approaches, CMA-ES and Generalized Generation Gap(G3) with PCX. It is shown two proposed methods are superior to consistently other approaches in the study.

  • A potential to effective ozone generation for 4 kinds of gap, a hole-to-plate gap, a hole-to-hole gap, a hole-to-rod gap and a plate-to-plate gap in tap water has been investigated. It is found that the hole gaps indicated higher ozone generation compared to that of the plate-to-plate gap. As a result, the hole gaps could be an effective means to generate ozone in water by utilizing both of one generation mechanisms of the discharge and the electrolysis.

  • Many companies are now studying these generational conflict issues and seeking countermeasures. As seen in the recent performance-based pay issue, the MZ generation is boldly showing their intention unlike the previous generation. This study focuses on LX Hausys' education program to overcome the generation gap. As a representative field education program of LXHausys, it is a longevity education program that was developed and operated at the end of 14 years and has been in operation so far. By acknowledging and understanding the generation gap through this educational program, it was possible to see that they could sympathize and accept each other one step further, and that trust in each other was formed on the basis of it. The success factors of the generation empathy program were identified as the willingness to share perceptions between labor and management, participatory education programs, active participation of members, and overcoming generation empathy. Through such education, the organization should continuously raise the issue of generational empathy and allow members to recognize it as an object to overcome. To this end, efforts should be made to overcome generational differences.

  • The purpose of our study was to figure out the generation gap between adolescents group and parents group in the sub-dimensions of perceptions on online games, such as harmfulness and benefits of online games, impacts and values of online games, parent-adolescent relationship with regard to online game activities, and government regulation of online games. To this end, we conducted online survey targeting middle or high school students and parents with children attending middle or high school regarding the perceptions on online games. As a result, we identified the similarities and differences between adolescents and parents generation in the sub-dimensions of perceptions on online games. Especially, we found significant differences between adolescents and parents generation in the perceptions on violence and sociality of online games. This result shows that the generation gap in these two factors may cause the conflict between parents and adolescents with regard to online game activities. Also, we ascertained the significant generation gap in the perception on parent-adolescent relationship with regard to online game activities. This result implies that parent-adolescent relationship in the developmental process of adolescents in real life was reflected in the perception on parent-adolescent relationship with regard to online game activities. Our contributions are in specifying the generation gap in the sub-dimensions of the perceptions on online games and in identifying the main causes of the conflict between parents group and adolescent group with regard to online game activities.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how much traditional family ethics exist in morden society. For this goal, I have analyzed norm consciousness of the family among adolescent, middle and old generation. In this research, three kinds of questionnaire were used and the data were obtained from 1,661 samples of three generation groups living in Gyengnam area. The major findings obtained from this study are as follows: First, the filial piety and consciousness for supporting their parents were not changed at all in traditional family ethics. The filial piety and consciousness for supporting their parents are the most important family concepts without showing any difference in generation-gap in modem society. Second, the decreasing traditional norm consciousness of family was familism value. Specialty the familism value becomes weaker from old to younger generation. Third, the filial piety and familism value were shown to be the important factors to support their parents. These concepts showed same trends without showing generation-gap.

  • This paper is to be researched into ozone generation character of Bi-Ti-Si type high dielectric yield ceramic catalyst discharge tube. And conditions of basic experiment are the outside diameter of discharge tube : 52 mm, the length of discharge tube : 350 mm, the frequence : 900 Hz, the temperature of cooling water : 25 $^{\circ}C$, quantity of flow : 5, 10, 20 l/min, pressure : 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 atm, and distance of discharge gap : 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 mm. Ozone generation characteristics were measured to consumption power. At quantity of flow : 20 l/min, discharge gap : 0.6 mm, pressure : 1.6, and consumption power : 150 W, Maximum ozone generation efficiency of 175 g/kWh was obtained. Maximum ozone generation efficiency was measured below the flow quantity of 20 l/min at below pressure of 1.6 atm. However, Maximum ozone generation efficiency was measured over the flow quantity of 20 l/min at over pressure of 1.6 atm.

  • Colleges of technology in Japan are characterized by specialized education starting from the first grades aged fifteen, making it particularly important to provide motivation for specialized subjects. The most difficult thing for teachers in the technical college is giving the motivation to a professional education to the lower grades who don't know the technology and engineering. Teachers tried to use and make a suitable example or an education material for their lecture. The generation gap with students makes it difficult for teachers to use examples of objects that students are actually familiar with in their daily life. To compensate for the generation gap with students, we asserted that education for lower grades should adopt the perspectives of students in higher grades. The relative closeness in age of lower and higher grades helps reduce the generation gap with students, which is advantageous in that teachers can share the perspectives of students.

  • The effects of operating temperature and electrode gap distance on electricity generation were investigated in two-chamber type MFCs. Voltages across the external resistor $(100\;{\Omega})$ were enhanced approximately 1.4 times by the increase of operating temperature from $30^{\circ}C$ to $34^{\circ}C$. The open circuit voltages (OCVs) were increased by the increase of temperature and the maximum power of MFC was obtained at higher current condition by increasing temperature and reducing electrode gap distance. The maximum power densities were enhanced from 1.9 to 2.4 times according to the experimented electrode gap distances by increasing temperature of $4^{\circ}C$. The electricity generation was increased with the decrease of electrode gap distance. The effects of operating temperature and electrode gap distance were closely connected with the internal resistance of MFC system. That is, the increase of temperature and decrease of electrode gap distance reduced the internal resistance of MFC, resulting in the enhancement of electricity generation of MFC.

  • In this paper a new clock generation scheme for TDM-CDM converter in the Gap Filler for satellite DMB systems has been proposed. The scheme uses the frame sync signal from the Ku band TDM receiver to lock the VCXO which provides the system clock for the TDM-CDM converter. The locking algorithm can be easily implemented in the FPGA, so that no separate circuitry is needed as in conventional PLL. With a stable OCXO, The scheme can be used to generate the reference clock to the local oscillator for RF parts.

  • There exists a popular belief that the elderly are more conservative than the younger people in acceptability of new technology. This study explores whether the generation gap in technology acceptance exists in the case of using telepresence robots, which project the presence and mobility of remote operator, for the universal purpose of social participation rather than for specific applications. Two groups of senior citizens and undergraduate students in their twenties personally experienced the telepresence robots operation and conducted a survey on how they perceived the social participation of a remote operator mediated by telepresence robot and to what extent the remote operator deserve equal rights to be treated as if one really exists in the local environment. The results show that the elderly have higher expectation on the role and functions of telepresence robots, and more favorable in principle for a remote operator to exercise equal rights by operating telepresence robot. It suggests that the stereotypes, the elderly lag behind younger generation in accepting new technology, is unlikely to fit into the telepresence robot market, for the elderly have more favor and support using telepresence robots as an universal avatar for social participation.
