  • PCA(Principle Component Analysis) has emerged as a useful tool for process monitoring and fault diagnosis. The general approach requires the user to identify the root cause by interpreting the residual or principle components. This could be tedious and often impossible for a large process. In this paper, PCA scheme is combined with the FCM-based fault diagnostic algorithm to enhance the diagnostic results. The implementation of the FCM-based fault diagnostic system by using PCA is done and its application is illustrated on the two-tank system.

  • System analysis programs have been developed by several different research groups. Especially, the programming languages and the developing environments of algorithm modules and user interface modules are different. And therefore, the differences have degraded interoperability and reusability of the system analysis modules. in order to solve this problems, a general binary interface has designed and the component based on the interface has developed as well. However, sometimes each interface is uncompatible because those are designed on the particular vendor. In this paper, we deals with XML web service, Sort of distributed processing architecture, which is not restricted by not only the existing internet standard but also any Programming language or any vendor. Because of its platform independent, each module can be updated and extended independently.

  • Component-based development is being generalized as the spread of software reuse technology for rapid development productivity and high quality software. In the CBD, the identification of independent and reusable component is the one of important tasks for component-based system development. Because existing methodologies providing component identification techniques provide techniques based on heuristic techniques of component developer, it is difficult for general developers to identify components using these methods. Therefore, this paper suggests new identification factors and a technique by considering dependency characteristics according to method call types and method call directions and dependency degree. Furthermore, proposed technique is verified through case study; business components based on system components are identified effectively.

  • This study was conducted to identify the characteristics of uncertainty in patients having rheumatoid arthritis. Subjects of the study constituted 528 patients who visited outpatient clinics of two university hospitals and one general hospital in Seoul. A self report questionnaire was used to measure the uncertainty. Reliability coefficients of this instrument was found Cronbach's ${\alpha}=.84$. In data analysis, SPSS PC 6.0 computer program was utilized for descriptive statistics and factor analysis. Three factors were appointed on the basis of literature review for the principal component factor analysis method and Varimax Orthogonal Rotation. The results of factor analysis were as follows ; 1) Three factors for uncertainty were identified through the principal component analysis and varimax rotation, and these contributed 37.4% of the valiance in the total score. Twenty six items among the whole items in the scale loaded above .39 on one of 3 factors. 2) The naming of each factor was as follows : Factor 1 was 'ambiguity' and has 12 items, factor 2 was 'lack of information' and has 8 items, factor 3 was 'unpredictability' and has 7 items. 3) Cronbach's alpha for internal consistency was .84 for the total items and .81, .80, .50 for each of three subscales in that order.

  • In many cases, modern aircraft are equipped with data acquisition system which checks the structural integrity of the aircraft. The analysis of the vibration data collected with the system is generally performed in dependence on a skilled expert who is familiar with aircraft design. Therefore, it is difficult to provide a representative and objective defect identification standard for general users. In this paper, we shows that it is possible to identify the type of maneuvers and faults by using the Principal Component Analysis(PCA) method in the vast vibration data collected during aircraft operation without using the existing aircraft design analysis. We classified the ROK Army aircraft vibration data for maneuvers and faults types, and applied the PCA to the classified data. Our result shows that it is possible to develop an objective maneuver/fault identification method without design analysis for general users.

  • This study presents a cost of efforts estimation model under the environment of developing a software using component software package tools. The approach taken was to drive from variety of sources in an attempt to identify the most significant factors. These sources ranged from already existing cost models like COTS integration cost and COCOMO models to information gathered in a data collection survey. Once the candidate drivers had been identified, the next step was to interview with the experts who had been experienced more than 5 years in component development area to identify the most significant driving factors. From those selected drivers, I established the Cost Estimation Model which is suitable for the developing a software using component software package tools by applying the general from of the well-know COCOMO software cost estimation model. To established the best fit in Korean Software industry, I used Regression statistical analysis with 31 data collections.

  • The variability of a ventilated filter cigarette depends on the details of its construction and on the variabilities of its components. Variations in filter ventilation arise from many sources, including variations in tobacco rod pressure drop, filter tip pressure drop, tipping paper permeability, and plugwrap permeability. To reduce the filter ventilation variability, the variability of filter ventilation levels in ventilated cigarettes is studied by Monte Carlo Analysis. For each trials a value is selected for tobacco rod pressure drop, filter tip pressure drop, tipping paper permeability, and plugwrap permeability. These values are selected randomly from a normal distribution based on the target and coefficient of variation for each input variable. The results of this analysis for filter ventilation variation suggest that the variations of filter ventilation are dependent on the details of cigarette designs studied and reducing the variability of any cigarette component will reduce filter ventilation variability. For typical cigarettes, variation in the permeability of tipping paper is usually the most significant contributor to filter ventilation variability. Results of a Monte Carlo Analysis could provide both general insights and specific practical guidance about the design of ventilated filter cigarettes.

  • The magnetic gear, which amplifies the torque by filtering the magnetic field generated by the low-speed permanent magnet with a modulator, can exclude gear contact and can be effectively applied when there are environmental restrictions. In this paper, we discuss the magnetic force characteristics of a magnetic gear using a magnetic focusing array that replaces a general permanent magnet array magnetized in a radial direction along the circumferential direction. The torque increasing effect of the discussed array, known as an arrangement that increases the principal component by focusing a radial magnetic field, is compared with that of a general magnetic gear. In particular, in a magnetic gear using such an array, the sensitivity of torque according to variables is analyzed to see how various variables known as factors affecting torque have an effect.

  • Software product lines are to attain the rapid development of qualify applications by concretizing the general components populated in software assets and assembling them according to the predefined architectures. For supporting the construction of the software product lines, this paper proposes a component code generation techniques based on GenVoca architecture and XML/XSLT technologies, In addition, CompGenX(Component Generator using XML), a component code generation system, is proposed on the basis of this techniques. By providing reconfigurability of component at the time of code generation, CompGenX allows the reusers to create the component source code that is appropriate to their purpose, In this system, the process of the component development is divided into two tasks which are the component family construction task and the component reuse task, For the component family construction, CompGenX provides the feature modeling tool for domain analysis and the domain architecture definition tool. Also, it provides the tool for building the component configuration know1edge specification and the code templates, For the component reuse task, it offers the component family search tool. the component customizing tool and the component code generator. Component code generation techniques and system in this paper should be applicable as basic technology to build the component-based software product lines.

  • Phenotypic characterization and body biometric in 13 traits (height at withers, body length, chest girth, paunch girth, ear length, tail length, length of tail up to switch, face length, face width, horn length, circumference of horn at base, distances between pin bone and hip bone) were recorded in 233 adult Gojri buffaloes from Punjab and Himachal Pradesh states of India. Traits were analysed by using varimax rotated principal component analysis (PCA) with Kaiser Normalization to explain body conformation. PCA revealed four components which explained about 70.9% of the total variation. First component described the general body conformation and explained 31.5% of total variation. It was represented by significant positive high loading of height at wither, body length, heart girth, face length and face width. The communality ranged from 0.83 (hip bone distance) to 0.45 (horn length) and unique factors ranged from 0.16 to 0.55 for all these 13 different biometric traits. Present study suggests that first principal component can be used in the evaluation and comparison of body conformation in buffaloes and thus provides an opportunity to distinguish between early and late maturing to adult, based on a small group of biometric traits to explain body conformation in adult buffaloes.
